ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: The current study analyzed eleven lecture transcripts from the Zurich Veterinary School of the years -1861-1864. The work presents the staff and organizational situation of the school at that time. Lectures concerned mostly clinical subjects, especially special pathology and therapy. The texts were transcribed, summarized and analyzed according to the criteria species, diagnosis and therapy. The drugs were listed. Therapy concepts follow the principles of humoral pathology, but transition to cellular pathology was imminent. The pathogens of infectious diseases are not identified yet, but are suspected to be called «contagions¼.

ABSTRACT

Even though privately-owned pet care is a lower priority mission than military working dog care, food inspection, and the public health mission, it is still very important, and the one that many Veterinary Corps officers, civil-ian veterinarians, and technicians enjoy the most. The vast majority of veterinarians and technicians went into veterinary medicine because of a love for animals. It is fulfilling to offer guidance to a client with a new puppy or kitten, see a sick pet improve after treatment, and interact with dozens of animals and clients in a day. The services provided by the Army Veterinary Corps in car-ing for pets has expanded over the years and the standard of care has improved as well. It is truly a privilege to serve those who dedicate themselves to the protection of our Nation. The Army Veterinary Corps is indeed proud to provide care to the pets of Warfighters of the Army,Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard; their family members; and our military retirees.

ABSTRACT

La "clinique vétérinaire" was created by the Belgian painter Emile Seeldrayers in 1884. The work was purchased by the local administration of Anderlecht in 1893 and given to the Veterinary School of Cureghem in 1961, at the occasion of its 125th anniversary. The painting is nowadays at the campus of Sart Tilman, in the premises of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Liège. According to the tradition it seems to be a key painting: the figures representing professor Lambert Hendrickx and different important persons of Anderlecht. Authorized evidence as well as certain facts refute this hypothesis; even if the realism of the painting is evident, the scene might be imaginary. In 2000 the deputy of Fine Arts of Anderlecht acquired a study of Seeldrayers that proves that the painter was frequently on the premises of the veterinary school, the he was inspired by the places, but that he modified them in order to make his composition more attractive.
