ABSTRACT

The data on cytogenetic examination concerning the offspring of the Chernobyl accident liquidators (cleanup personnel) have been obtained. It has been established that spontaneous chromosomal aberrations level before folic acid administration was 1,8 times higher than that value after its employment (4,45 to 2,42 %, p < 0,01). In lymphocyte cultures treated with mitomycin C accompanied by folic acid it was 4,5 times higher before their administration (23,95 to 5,36 %, p < 0,001). The data obtained confirm a possibility of stabilization of genetic apparatus in offspring of the Chernobyl disaster liquidators after folic acid administration.

ABSTRACT

Based on longer than 20 years experience of observation and investigation of the neuropsychic state of cosmonauts in long-term missions to the space stations and volunteers in ground studies of some of the spaceflight (SF) effects, principles of diagnostics, prophylaxis and correction of asthenoneurotic and psychoasthenic disorders in members of long-term orbital mission have been established. The authors give consideration to the most probable pathophysiological mechanisms of these disorders during SF and some potential lines of exploration and development of countermeasures against and methods for correction of the psychoneurologic disorders during long-term missions.

ABSTRACT

A study was made of the effect of risk factors and the clinical picture of the prodromal period in 184 patients with traumatic epilepsy, of the efficacy of nootropic and long-acting psychotropic drugs in combined treatment. The risk factors were brain contusions, open cranial injuries, particularly in frontotemporal areas, comatose states after injury lasting over 6 hours, successive fits in the acute period of injury, episodic disorders of dull consciousness. Administration of nootropic and long-acting drugs brought about a reduction of the cerebral asthenic symptomatology and stabilization of emotional disturbances which promoted prevention of secondary neurotic and other mental disorders in patients with traumatic epilepsy.

ABSTRACT

Prevalence of the vegetative dystonia syndrome (VDS) among the workers at a chemical plant increased depending on the duration of work, industrial noise being the major factor in the hazardous working conditions. The VDS risk groups were traced in the age-group beyond 40 with the duration of work over 10 years. The following techniques can be adequately used in the VDS detection: baresthesiometry , cardiointervalometry at rest and cardiointervalographic assessment of the Ashmer reflex, which facilitate determination of the specific nature and manifestations of the pathologic developments, as well as an adequate choice of their correction.

ABSTRACT

The authors distinguish a complex of informative criteria of early diagnosis of neurotic disorders employed in the screening algorithm. The efficacy of the algorithm was evaluated in 285 patients with neurosis and the diagnosis proved correct in 93-95.2% of cases. The automatized system of screening of neurotic disorders ensures improvements in exact diagnosis, saves time and expenditures.
