ABSTRACT

Bronchial Asthma is a pathology of high prevalence and mortality, defined as a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways, characterized by the presence of bronchospasm, inflammation of the bronchial mucosa and bronchial hypersecretion resulting from pulmonary hyperreactivity to various factors. Clinically it is manifested by recurrent episodes of wheezing, dyspnea and chest tightness and coughing, occurring more at night and in the morning. Treatment is divided into two phases: treatment of the acute episode and maintenance treatment. A case report was carried out in which, after a detailed anamnesis in the search for the individualization of the patient and the repertoire of the symptoms, the homeopathic medicine Pulsatilla was prescribed, associated with the conventional treatment of asthma. There was a significant improvement in the patient's clinical status. This case report highlights how Homeopathy as an adjuvant therapeutic proposal can contribute to the reduction of recurrent asthmatic crises, as well as the reduction or earlier withdrawal of control medications with an improvement in the quality of life of patients with asthma.

ABSTRACT

(AU)

Hormonal therapy is the conventional treatment for counteracting climacteric symptoms; however, this treatment is contraindicated in some women due to the adverse effects that this therapy may cause. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of homeopathic therapy during the climacteric using the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS). The study included 31 women, without cardiac problems, history of no cancer or hormone replacement therapy; a MRS scale questionnaire was applied to these women to evaluate each symptom before to treatment. The Radar 10.0 for Windows electronic repertoire was used to repertorize the characteristic symptoms of each patient and determine the similarly. Homeopathic medication was prescribed in 30CH dynamization as 5 sublingual drops every 8 hrs. Patient evaluation took place monthly for 3 months. The evaluation of the results was performed by the comparison of scale scores through a statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test. Lachesis trigonocephalus and Pulsatilla nigricans were the most frequent treatment indications, according to the symptoms of each patient. At the end of the homeopathic treatment, symptoms reduction was observed with statistical significance in the score, which reflects an overall improvement of 35%. This evidence suggested that homeopathic treatment benefits women in climacteric. (AU)

ABSTRACT

(AU)

ABSTRACT

Background Simple and mucopurulent chronic bronchitis (SMCB) is characterized by recurrent mucoid or mucopurulent expectoration in absence of localized suppurative disease. This observational open label study was undertaken to evaluate the effects of homeopathic medicine in SMCB. Methods 1902 patients were screened from 07 centres out of which 1305 were excluded. 597 patients were enrolled as per the inclusion and exclusion criteria. A total of 14 pre-defined homeopathic medicines were shortlisted for prescription after repertorizing the pathological symptoms of SMCB. Outcomes were assessed through chronic bronchitis symptom scale (CBSS) and FEV1/ FVC ratio with spirometry for over a period of two years. Appearance of any change (relief/ worse)/ status quo was immediately followed by placebo/ change in dilution/ change in remedy. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS version 20. Results: 532 patients were analyzed based on the intention to treat principle using last observation carry forward method. Mean CBS score reduced from 29.86±4.5 at baseline to 12.33±7.6 at completion of 2 years. Repeated measures ANOVA, at time points 0 (baseline), 3, 6, 9, 12 ,15, 18, 21 and 24 months, showed significant reduction in CBS scores [Wilk's Lambda 0.104, F=564, df 524; p=00001]. The FEV1 and FEV1/FVC was maintained within normal limits. 86% prescriptions included Lycopodium, Arsenicum album, Pulsatilla, Phosphorus, Stannum metallicum, Calcarea carbonica, Silicea, Bryonia alba. Conclusion: The result suggests effectiveness of homeopathic treatment in early years of SCMB patients. Controlled trials are warranted. (AU)

ABSTRACT

(AU)

Chronic otitis in dogs is a major problem in clinical medical-veterinary due to the difficulty in diagnosing the triggering factors and difficulty in treating infections caused by perpetuating agents of ear infections. It is believed that such difficulties exist due to lack of correct diagnosis of perpetuating factors of otitis and the delay in diagnosis, which leads to chronic otitis and irreversible. The misuse of antibiotics and other drugs for the treatment of this disease, selects resistant bacteria and fungi, which makes the problem even more difficult to solve. Homeopathy can be a great tool for the treatment of ear infections, since it makes no use of drugs that cause resistance in perpetuating organisms of otitis. Homeopathy is the animal as a whole, not just the disease. Following the principle of similarity, homeopathy can lead to healing. The ultimate goal of homeopathic treatment is to bring welfare to the animal. In the present study we report a case of chronic otitis in a dog that has the problem for life. The animal still goes on treatment, but in a few months we observed a significant improvement in the clinical aspect of the animal as a whole; ear and cytological examination, in addition to observing the most important: the welfare of the animal and the tranquility of his guardian, to see him without pain. It follows that homeopathy provides excellent results in the treatment of otitis and the animal as a whole, without him suffering the side effects of drugs such as those used in conventional treatment. ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

(AU)

Similarly, the VETF median score improved by 2 units (p=0.0001) from 1 (0, 1) to -1 (-1, 0) and the staging score changed from 1 (1, 2) to 1 (0, 1), p=0.002. The total DLQI median score exhibited significant reduction from 21 (17, 22) to 13.6 (10, 17), change 7.4 (p=0.0001), as also did its components. Conclusions: Individualized homeopathictreatment associated with significant improvement of VASI, VETF and DLQI scores. The extent to which the observed effects were due to placebo needs clarificationin future randomized double-blind clinical studies preceded by feasibility studies. (AU)

ABSTRACT

Background: Vitiligo is a common hypopigmentation disorder with significant psychological impact. An evaluation of homeopathic treatment was performed in individuals with vitiligo in a hospital outpatient clinic in West Bengal, India. Methods: 30 participants (median age 27 years old, 57% female) were recruitedfor a prospective open-label pilot study and treated with individualized homeopathic medicines for six months. Efficacy was assessed after three months and six months using Vitiligo Area Scoring Index (VASI) score, Vitiligo European Task Force (VETF)score, and Dermatological Life Quality Index (DLQI) score, which are validatedoutcome measures evaluating the area, intensity, spread of depigmentation ofvitiligo lesions, and quality of life (QoL).
