RESUMEN
Visual problems may be due to an inadequate illumination. In this article some recommendations are presented with regard to the illumination in the dental office. Prior to this, a description of some technical terms such as lux and candela is presented. Some light sources may be dangerous for the eye if used for a longer period of time. Mechanical damage to the eyes and infection by hard and large particles of the aerosol may be serious. Spectacles and air suction devices are therefore a necessity. Lastly, some attention is given to working with monitors of personal computers.
