N-Benzyl-isatin.

In the title compound, C(15)H(11)NO(2), two C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are observed in the crystal structure, as well as π-π stacking with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.623 (2) Å. The planarity of the two ring systems is illustrated by very small deviations of all the atoms from these planes [largest deviations = 0.003 (3) and 0.010 (3) Šfor the phenyl and fused-benzene rings, respectively]. The dihedral angle between these two planes is 77.65 (9)°.

A group of homeless juveniles (N = 50) was compared to a group of rockers (N = 46) and a further group of "normal" non-rockers (N = 132) as regards social background, attitudes to others, intelligence, performance motivation and further personality variables such as aggression, extraversion, neuroticism and rigidity. Whereas no significant differences were found in respect of personality variables and attitudes, the homeless juveniles were in a far worse position than the rockers as regards social background: extremely low income, large families, overcrowded accomodation, high rate of alcoholism, delinquency and broken homes. They were less successful in school although they compared favourably with the other groups in those areas of intelligence covered by tests.

A research programme on African paragonimiasis was carried out in eastern Nigeria, which included the epidemiology, parasitology and clinical and radiological studies. The radiological pulmonary changes are described in detail and differentiated from tuberculosis.
