RESUMEN

Cultures of human embryonic fibroblasts in vitro were subjected to helium-neon laser single and double irradiation to investigate the influence of low-energy laser irradiation on fibroblast proliferation. Mean increase in the cell number values of irradiated cells were compared with increase values of non-irradiated control samples of fibroblasts. He-Ne laser was used as a coherent source of monochromatic radiation at 632.8 nm, and Petri-dishes with cultured fibroblasts were irradiated in way to receive radiation of energy doses of 0.5; 1; 1.5 and 2J/cm2. Single He-Ne laser irradiation exhibited a significant stimulation effect on human fibroblast proliferation in cell-culture.

RESUMEN

Results of the study of incidence of chlamydia trachomatis infection in patients with Reiters syndrome are presented. Chlamydia trachomatic was isolated from the uretral smear in 12 (34.28%) of 35 patients with Reiter's syndrome. In the group of patients with other rheumatologic diseases Chlamydia trachomatis was isolated in 2 (5.13%) of 39 patients. In all patients with negative isolation, infection was confirmed serologically also and in some patients with negative isolation it was also proved.

RESUMEN

First experiences in the diagnosis of human papilloma viruses are reported. The method of in situ hybridization was used together with biotin tests for types of HPV: 6/11, 16/18 and 31/33/51. The study was performed on the preparations of of the cervix tissue with displasmic proliferation and laryngeal papilloma tissues. There have been examined 37 specimens: in 6 were found sequence of HPV genoma for types 6/11 and in 1 specimen for types 16/18 and 31/33/51/.

RESUMEN

Corona viruses belong to a group of not yet well known viruses isolated in patients with infections of the upper respiratory organs, especially in winter months. It is presumed that they provoke about 15% - 20% of all infections. However, in the last years more attention has been paid to the role of human corona viruses in the provocation of sickness in man and they are becoming a special field of interest in scientific studies.

RESUMEN

The 103 serum samples have been examined for the presence of the specific antibodies against Epstein-Barr virus (EBV): IgG and IgM antibodies to viral capsid antigen (VCA), antibodies to nuclear antigen (EBNA) and antibodies to early antigen (EA). Sixty nine studied sera belonged to patients with suspected infective mononucleosis (IM) while other sera were sent with the diagnosis which could be associated with EBV infections. The results obtained have suggested the necessity of examinations of EBV markers in all states suspected of EBV infection.

RESUMEN

Presence of neutralizing antibodies to Coxsackie B viruses (CBV) 1-5 were examined in 2885 human sera by the neutralization test. The most frequently detected antibodies were to B4 viruses (in 1495 sera--51.82%) and to B3 (1371--47.52%). Antibodies to other serotypes were found in lower percentage: to B1 in 387 samples (13-41%), to B2 in 404 sera (14%) and in B5 in 332 sera (11.5%). Presence of neutralizing antibodies to human CBV in heart diseases were also analysed in 67 serum pairs. In this group of examinees the antibody titer dynamics was found in 41.79% sera.

RESUMEN

To follow-up seasonal distribution of intestinal fungal infection by Candida genus (CGF) in patients and healthy subjects 3786 stool samples have been examined. There were 1302(34.4%) stools of patients and 2484 of healthy subjects of which 421 (16.9%) samples were infected by CGF. In both groups of examinees infection by CGF had a seasonal character. Significantly lower incidence was found within the period January-March (the three-month average percentage of infection was 25.2%, that is, 13.9%) than within the period October-December (the three-month average percentage of infection distribution was 42.7%, that is 20.4%).

RESUMEN

Stool specimens from 631 children with acute diarrhoea and from 277 healthy controls were tested for the presence of non-enteropathogenic, non-enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli strains which mediated mannose-resistant haemagglutination of human erythrocytes (MRHA+). Fifty-nine (34.9%) of 169 isolated MRHA+ strains but none of 210 MRHA- strains exhibited diffuse adherence (DA+) to HEp-2 cells. DA+ strains were found in 37 (5.9%) children with diarrhoea and in 22 (7.9%) controls. MRHA+/DA+ strains in comparison to MRHA+/DA- strains significantly less frequently expressed P fimbriae (10.7 vs. 73.6%), haemolysin production (12.5 vs. 63.2%), and MRHA of other species erythrocytes (21.4 vs. 84%). These data demonstrate that E. coli which exhibit the diffuse pattern of adherence to HEp-2 cells also cause MRHA of human erythrocytes. Since these strains were found with similar frequencies in children with and without diarrhoea it seems that DA is not a marker of enteropathogenicity of E. coli.

RESUMEN

Occurrence of methicillin resistant staphylococcal strains in hospital environment is more frequently found. These strains are multiresistant so that diseases caused by them require a special therapeutical approach. They are significant causative agents of intrahospital infections which may have epidemic character. Using two methods for detection of methicillin resistant staphylococcus 335 strains were tested. Methicillin resistance was found in 36 (20.6%) of 175 strains of St. aureus and 49 (30.5%) strains of coagulase negative staphylococci. The largest number of methicillin resistant strains is isolated from materials of patients hospitalized at surgical and hematological clinics.
