Due to the recent appearance of new lamps of photopolymerization of high intensity and considering the factors that influence and the parameters that determine the effectiveness of the curing it discusses on the different types from lamps. We've made a review of advantages and disadvantages for each light technology. We explain the main factors wich take importance in these procedures. The obtained results are poorer in those of high intensity (are of plasma and laser) to the valued ones with halogenous lamps. As far as their evolution the LED could be the right choice because of their ergonomic advantages. We expect a future with total compatibility between dental curing materials and lamps (AU)

RESUMEN

In the last 40 years, magnets have been used in dentistry. Initially as anecdotic reports, but recently, after the development of powerful rare earth magnets, new applications of them have arised and offer a clinically proved alternative to mechanical systems. Many experimental and clinical trials have demonstrated their adequate use in prosthetic rehabilitations, partial removable or overdentures, tooth or implant beared, or in other like orthodontics. The authors describe the historical evolution of magnetic systems used in dentistry, their physical and mechanical principles, their attributes as biomaterials and their designs and way of use.

RESUMEN

The time taken to achieve the sterilization of K files impregnated in a Bacillus subtilis culture was evaluated, placing the files in a glass bead sterilizer. The minimum time needed was 20 seconds at 240 degrees C and the previous cleaning of the file with a sterile wipe impregnated by alcohol reduced this time to 15 seconds.

RESUMEN

We have compared the microbiological activity of the following cavity liners: Life, Dycal II, Calcipulpe, Pure calcium hydroxide and Cavitec; against five different bacterial strains: Veillonella parvula, Bacteroides fragilis, Peptococcus s.p., Staphylococcus aureus, and Streptococcus beta hemolytic: The results demonstrate the higher antimicrobial activity of the manufactured cavity liners with calcium hydroxide base in comparison with the pure calcium hydroxide.
