RESUMEN

This article describes the results of systemic transplantations of cardiomyoblasts grown from autologous or allogeneic bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells, in the complex therapy of the late radiation da- mage of the heart, which developed after radiation therapy in 16 female patients with Hodgkin disease (HD) or breast cancer (BC). The cell therapy drastically improved the efficacy of the drug treatment, which earlier was the only option for the therapy of the radiation damage of vital organs. The effect of such therapy was clinically observed in the patients already in the first year of observation, and consisted in the decrease of the degree of the cardiac failure severity and improvement of their quality of life in the absence of HD or BC progression.

RESUMEN

Urgency of the problem is defined by economical, regulatory and legislative acts, regional social and moral factors. There is critical situation in Russian Pediatric Healthcare system. This situation is due to inadequate funding, high medical technologies inaccessibility for some Russian children, their adverse health state. The article presents a retrospective analysis of intensive therapy and resuscitation outcomes with technical equipment and work environment assessment in the intensive care unit of Tushinskaya city pediatric clinic for the period from 2007 to 2011. Anaesthetic and emergency care quality and safety depend on several factors: permanent equipment improvement, comprehensive analysis of every fatal case and full implementation of "Anti-epidemic (prophylactic) actions plan" and "Program of monitoring compliance with the sanitary norms".

RESUMEN

The objective of this study was to investigate in vivo the dose response of radiation induced chromosomal aberrations in human blood lymphocytes of lung cancer patients given non-uniform fractional exposures to high doses of therapeutic 60Co gamma-rays delivered synchronously with polychemotherapy. The chromosome aberration analysis was carried out in peripheral blood lymphocytes of 13 lung cancer patients who manifested II to IV developmental clinical stage. During the course of radiotherapy they received the accumulated tumor dose ranged 47.5 to 70 Gy. The yield ofdicentrics, centric rings and fragments was measured in the blood samples taken before treatment, after the first day and after the complete course of radiotherapy. Based on cytogenetic measurements of 3 patients, the average tumor dose after the first day was estimated to be 2.1 to 3.0 Gy given that the corresponding physical dose was (1.0 Gy + 1.5 Gy). The quotient of the individual dose estimated by the frequency of aberrations to the physical dose after the complete course of radiotherapy was calculated for all 13 patients. The mean quotient was shown to be equal to 93 +/- 9% ranged 50 to 154%.

RESUMEN

Possible therapeutic effect of systemic (intravenous) transplantation of autologous mesenchymal stem cells was studied in experiments (C57Bl/6 mice) and pilot clinical trial. Clinical trial was performed on 11 patients with radiation-induced lung injuries developed after combined chemotherapy and radiation therapy for lymphogranulomatosis or breast cancer. The patients were subjected to single transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells and course of standard pharmacotherapy. The method for isolation of autologous mesenchymal stem cells was licensed. The transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells was followed by a decrease in the mortality rate of mice with radiation-induced lung injury. Clinical trial showed that cell therapy with autologous mesenchymal stem cells does not induce progression of the underlying oncological disease. Parameters of spirography, immune status, lung scintigraphy, and markers for inflammation and tissue hypoxia in the patients remained practically unchanged 1 year after the treatment. These clinical signs reflect stabilization of the radiation process.

RESUMEN

The performed study will allow the practitioners-experts to use a proposed procedure for sanitary-and-hygienic expertise of the organization of work to accumulate and remove therapeutic-and-prophylactic institution wastes for the preparation and issue of an opinion on the document "A4 scheme for waste disposal and removal at the institution".

RESUMEN

The paper presents the results of sanitary and hygienic investigations whose reason was the situation established with the removal of dumping earth in the dwelling area of Mitino Microdistrict 8 gamma. The removed dumping earth found to have formaldehyde, benzenes, acetaldehyde, phenols, aromatic hydro carbons, polyaromatic compounds was a source of bad smelling substances that had entered the ambient air. A special study of the earth showed that it might yield volatile and bad smelling compounds, such as organic sulfides, aldehydes, mercaptans, ketones, etc. Their harmful health effects (during operations and in the late period) seem to be unlikely. When such work is under way, it is necessary to inform the population about possible consequences.

RESUMEN

The article represents data on distribution of liquidators in Russian State Medical Dosimetry Register according to account categories, residing territories (regions of Russia), age, sex, dose groups, coverage by medical examinations and health groups. During 1991-1996 the liquidators demonstrated higher occurrence of endocrine, neurologic and sensory, circulatory, digestive and malignant diseases.

RESUMEN

A chemical-enzymatic synthesis of 271- and 286-bp DNA duplexes, each of which contains the entire sequence coding for human proinsulin has been accomplished. In addition to the coding sequence, the 271-bp fragment carries translation initiation and termination signals plus EcoRI-HindIII restriction enzyme sites for insertion into an appropriate plasmid vector. The 286-bp fragment also contains a Shine-Dalgarno (SD) sequence preceding an ATG codon. Employing the 286-bp polynucleotide, the 568-bp tandem proinsulin gene has been obtained. The synthesis of these DNA fragments involved preparation of 42 oligonucleotides by a rapid N-methylimidazolide phosphotriester method and enzymatic conversion of the oligonucleotides into the gene subfragments, which were cloned separately and fused to yield the desired DNAs coding for proinsulin. The proinsulin gene fragments were cloned in Escherichia coli and shown to have the correct sequences.

RESUMEN

The authors compared the histochemical characteristics of acid mucopolysaccharides (MPS) of the medulla of the kidney with functional indices of the latter in dogs under conditions of water, osmotic diuresis and in polyuria caused by the administration of heparin. There was seen a correlation between the changes in the MPS staining and the intensity of reabsorption of osmotically free water. On the basis of the results obtained a supposition was put forward that the change in the physico-chemical properties of the MPS served as one of the most significant factors determining the permeability of the medulla structures for the passage of water from the tubular lumina into the interstitium.
