[Controlling effect of T lymphocyte suppressors on the proliferation of cells in various tissues]. / Kontroliruiushchee vliianie T-limfotsitov-supressorov na proliferatsiiu kletok v razlichnykh tkaniiakh.

The changes in mitotic index of mouse bone marrow, spleen, liver, kidneys, small intestine, cornea were studied during alterations in the number of T-suppressors. It was found that mitotic activity in all tissues investigated enhanced significantly after a decrease in the number of T-suppressors caused by single injection of an antiserum against T-suppressors. On the contrary, the mitotic index diminished significantly after the transfer of tolerant spleen lymphoid cell suspension enriched by T-suppressors to normal syngeneic mice. These data indicate that T-suppressors are responsible for the control over cell proliferation in nonlymphoid tissues.

[T-cell kinetics and course of humoral immune response following subcutaneous immunization with tetanus toxoid fluid vaccine]. / T-Zellkinetik und Verlauf der Humoralen Immunantwort nach subkutaner Immunisierung mit Tetanustoxoid-Fluid-Impfstoff.

Revaccinations with tetanus toxoid fluid vaccine were performed including different groups of volunteers (aged, diabetics, rheumatics). The kinetics of T-cells were demonstrated by rosette technique in a period of 63 days after revaccination. The content of tetanus antitoxin was estimated by the mouse standard neutralization test. T-cell kinetics were different in the investigated groups, probably influenced by age, illness, therapy etc. Only those patients among the aged who were in bad health showed a relatively low humoral booster reaction.

T lymphocytes from the spleen of partially hepatectomized CBA mice enhance the mitotic activity of hepatocytes and Kupffer cells of the liver in nonoperated recipients. The proliferation induced by these cells is equal to the inductive capacity of the whole suspension of lymphocytes from the spleen of partially hepatectomized animals, which contains T and B lymphocytes. The proliferation induced by B lymphocytes from the spleen of operated mice is significantly lowered and is displayed chiefly in relation to Kupffer cells.

The authors suggest a method of obtaining purified antilymphocytic antibodies by mean of a specific immunosorbent of human or mouse lymphocytes fixated with glutharic aldehyde Such immunosorbents subjected to special treatment could be used repeatedly; their sorptive capacity was retained in such case. Only from 5 to 12% of the activity could be obtained from immunosorbents sorbed from the serum with 77--93% activity. In comparison with the initial serum, purification was from 6- to 15-fold. Thus, the suggested method provided considerable purification of the antilymphocytic preparations and permitted to obtain highly active antilymphocytic antibodies.
