RESUMEN

PIP: A group of 17 women in labor and 19 undergoing therapeutic abortion (a total of 36 patients aged 19 to 39) were given 1 to 5 mg Enzaprost containing prostaglandin F2 (PGF2 alpha) made by Chinoin in 500 ml iv perfusion to induce labor. The average duration of labor was 18 hours and 48 minutes (24 hours 40 minutes for primiparae and 7 hours 35 minutes for multiparae). Delivery ranged from 15 to 30 minutes. In three cases cesarean section was performed. In 14 of 19 cases of abortion, the conventional method of induction was carried out with estradiol, castor oil, calcium, and oxytocic in iv perfusion. An average dose of 2 mg Enzaprost was given to primiparae undergoing abortion, and the average time of evacuation of the uterus was 21 hours. Multiparae received 2 to 12 mg Enzaprost and the average time of expulsion of the fetus was 16 hours and 45 minutes. In 2 cases the method failed. No instances of intolerance or secondary phenomena were observed. The results confirmed the qualitative advantages of PGF2 for triggering uterine contractions: short duration of dilatation (average 11 hours and 15 minutes), simple technique, diminished side effects, no uterine hypertonia, minimal bleeding, lack of post-partum and post-abortum infection, and the minimal number of days of hospitalization.^ieng

RESUMEN

Peripheral circulating E-rosette-forming cells subpopulations (high affinity and low affinity E--RFC) were studied in pregnant women. In prelabor the high affinity/low affinity E--RFC ratio was found to decrease as compared with the controls by the decrease of the high affinity E--RFC (mean +/- SD, 33.4 +/- 15.9%, p less than 0.01) and the increase of the low affinity E--RFC percentage (mean +/- SD, 37.0 +/- 11.8%, p less than 0.001). As compared with prelabor the low affinity E--RFC subpopulation decreased during normal labor (mean +/- SD, 14.1 +/- 6.2%, p less than 0.001) and not in abnormal labor. These changes might be implicated in the final "fetal allograft rejection" and are probably due to some serum factors in pregnancy.

RESUMEN

In two groups of women--one group of 12 normal-mammary-gland controls and another group of 10 idiopathic galactorrhoea patients--we determined the blood concentration of serotonin and prolactin. The obtained data show no significant differences between the studied groups either in serotonin or prolactin levels i.e., serotonin is not implied in the pathogeny of idiopathic galactorrhoea. The data are confirming our previous results concerning the functional correlations between the serotonin system and prolactin release, as well as the data obtained by other authors on the normal values of prolactin in idiopathic galactorrhoea.

RESUMEN

A high proportion of parainfluenza, herpes, adenovirus and chlamydial antigens (10.7-36%) was detected by indirect immunofluorescence in cells exfoliated in the vagina of women with genital neoplasia and with uterine cervix ectopia and dysplasia. Much lower proportions of the same antigens were found in patients with common gynecopathies or recurrent genital herpes and in pregnant women. The possible relationships between chronic virus infections and genital neoplasia in women are discussed.
