RESUMEN
The paper gives information on the new illuminator for endoscopic apparatuses, which provides higher light optic and electric characteristics than do its existing analogues. It also presents the specific features of the illuminator and compares the technical data of the new illuminator and its analogues.

Drawbacks of serially-produced cystoscopes are considered along with their technical perfection. The calculation results for a new light-power optical ststem for cystoscope are reported and the structure of optical tube incorporated in those unified urological endoscopes with its main parameters are given. A conclusion is made regarding the technical perfection of currently produced Soviet cystoscopes.

The optical characteristics of endoscopes can be made more effective and the quality of the image improved through incorporation in their optical systems of rod-like components. The use of rod-like components in the rigid choledochoscope helped increase three-fold the optimal efficiency by comparison with that in the formerly manufactured device provided with an optics that was made up of small thickness lenses.
