RESUMEN

In the complex anion of the title compound, (C(2)H(6)N(5))[Cu(C(7)H(4)NO(4))(C(7)H(3)NO(4))]·3H(2)O, the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by tridentate 6-carb-oxy-pyridine-2-carboxyl-ate and pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and is surrounded by four O atoms in the equatorial plane and two N atoms in axial positions in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal, the components are linked into a three dimensional network by O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O, N-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and a π-π inter-action with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.6080 (8) Å.

RESUMEN

o-Vanillin-(4-methylthiosemicarbazone), o-Vanillin-(4-phenylthiosemicarbazone) and some of their metal complexes of the platinum group have been synthesized, characterized by chemical and spectral methods and studied for their antibacterial, antifungal and amoebicidal activity in vitro. The platinum group metal chelates exibited significant activity against a wide spectrum of microorganisms at different concentrations. The Pt(II) and Ru(III) chelates derived from o-vanillin-(4-phenylthiosemicarbazone) seem to be the most efficient inhibitors. Evaluation of the antimalarial activity of the compounds in mice infected with Plasmodium berghei indicated that cures were attainable at dose levels of 40-160 mg/kg but with toxic death prevalence at higher dose levels.

RESUMEN

2-Acetylpyridine-(2-methylthiosemicarbazone), 2-acetylpyridine-(4-methylthiosemicarbazone), 2-acetylpyridine-(4-phenylthiosemicarbazone) and some of their metal complexes of the platinum group have been synthesized, characterized by chemical and spectral methods and studied for their antibacterial, antifungal and amoebicidal activity in vitro. They were studied also for their antimalarial activity and for toxicity in vivo. The platinum metal chelates exhibited significant activity against a wide spectrum of microorganisms at different concentrations. The Ru (III) chelates derived from 2-acetylpyridine-(4-methylthiosemicarbazone) seem to be the most efficient inhibitors. Evaluation of the antimalarial activity of the complexes in mice infected with Plasmodium berghei indicated that cures were attainable at dose levels of 20-160 mg/kg.

RESUMEN

The metal (II) complexes of benzyl and benzoin thiosemicarbazones have been synthesized and characterized. They were studied for their antibacterial, antifungal and amoebicidal activity in vitro and for their toxicity in vivo. The ligands and their metal complexes exhibited low antibacterial and amoebicidal activity. The metal chelates of benzoin thiosemicarbazone seem to be the most active compounds.
