RESUMEN

Results are analyzed of a clinical observation and examination of 188 patients with haemophilia aged 10-77 years. The haemophilia patients were diagnosed as having developed secondary immunodeficiency related to chronic antigenic stimulation of the patient's immune system by allogenic proteins which contain plasma preparations. Against the background of immunodeficiency, there occur in the patients complications of immune character such as appearance of immune inhibitors to clotting factors. The authors are of the opinion that the nature of the inhibitory form of haemophilia is related, first, to genetic anomalies in factor VIII (IX), which cause the development of the autoimmune process; second, that as a result of alloimmunization and immunomodulating action of substitution therapy there develop persistent disorders in immunoregulation and activation of antibody genesis, which facts come to trigger off the appearance of inhibitory antibodies.

RESUMEN

Safety of haemotransfusions remains a challenge in modern transfusion medicine. Methodological approaches toward eliminating risks for haemotransfusion complications include a wider employment of principles of haemocomponent therapy, prevention of a possibility of infections contamination of blood and its components, deleukocytation of blood components, categorizing of donors by phenotypes, registering those donors having been phenotyped, categorizing of potential recipients by phenotypes, screening of alloimmune antierythrocytic antibodies in donors, sick and pregnant women, introduction of autodonation on a wide scale.

RESUMEN

In-depth study of mortality rates for hemoblastoses in Rivno region in which six Northern territories are known to be contaminated with radionuclides, over the period 1981-1991, revealed increase in mortality in postaccident period from hemoblastoses both on the whole and some of its nosologic entities. The statistical analysis of mortality rates for hemoblastoses did not show any significant difference in the corresponding figures between radionuclide contaminated and uncontaminated parts of the Rivno region.
