RESUMEN

A new nutrient medium has been designed to culture and isolate the plague microbe ChDS-37 on the basis of the pancreatic digest of baker's yeast. The results of laboratory tests of the designed medium, by using 10 plague microbe strains and those of approval during the tactical and special training of a specialized antiepidemic team (SAET), suggest that the medium has some advantage over reference media and creates prerequisites for being incorporated into the mobilization reserve of a SAET.

RESUMEN

Results of analysis of cholera outbreak during which V. cholerae O1 biovar El-Tor ctxAB- tcpA+ was isolated from 2 patients and 30 carriers are presented. Epidemic was caused by contamination of water source and water route of transmission. Strains identical to ones detected in humans were isolated from water of surface well in zone of water intake. Genome and VNTR-analysis of ctxAB- tcpA+ vibrios that caused outbreak in Rostov region in 2005 showed that they differed from ctxAB- tcpA- and ctxAB- tcpA+ vibrios isolated previously during and beyond of outbreaks from patients, carriers and environment and formed separate group with certain genotype. These results confirms conclusions of epidemiological analysis about imported cause of recent outbreak.

RESUMEN

The data bases (DB) on the spread of plague, yellow fever and contagious virus hemorrhagic fevers (CVHF) in foreign countries have been created. These DB contain information on the main international air and sea ports and their relationships with natural focal territories. The data base "Sanitary control. Yellow fever" contains information on different species serving as vectors for yellow fever virus. Information on the circulation of the causative agents of Ebola fever, Lassa fever and Marburg disease in African countries has been introduced into DB, the differentiation of countries by the degree of the potential danger of the CVHF spread has been made.

RESUMEN

The results of the epidemiological analysis of the outbreak of hemorrhagic fever which was caused by Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus and occurred during the period of July 3-19, 1999, in the Oblivskaya district of Rostov Province are presented. The specific epidemiological features of the outbreak have been determined. The possible versions of the appearance of the focus of infection and the role of Ixodes ticks in the circulation of the infective agent are discussed.

RESUMEN

The follow-up of dynamics of cholera epidemic in 1994 was made in 4 mountain regions of Daghestan with shared river system. There were 537 infection cases in these regions, which was equal to 1/4 from the total number of cholera patients in Daghestan. The probability of cholera distribution by water way has been shown, which can be related to massive dissemination with V. cholerae in river, drink and waste water both from active, and from local (intrahospital) epidemic sources. Vibrio's exit from cholera hospital became possible after dissemination intrahospital V. cholerae of waste water, after contamination of river water and after formation of secondary sources and cholera waves, which resulted in the prolongation up to 40 days of this infection in mountain regions of Daghestan.

RESUMEN

Differences in the volume of information, spread among different groups of the population, on the problems of the transmission and prophylaxis of AIDS have been revealed by the method of anonymous questioning through the distribution of questionnaires. Persons belonging to the risk group, i. e. patients with venereal diseases, have shown a particularly low level of knowledge. The insufficient use of various forms and methods of health education has been established.

RESUMEN

The antimicrobic properties have been studied in 30 strains of lactobacilli. As a result a strain, the strongest antagonist relative to choleric vibrios and other enteropathogenic microorganisms, is selected. Lactobacilli are found to retain their viability and biological activity in the activated sludge during the whole period of observation (6 months). Biological disinfection of sewage is shown possible to be intensified using the activated sludge inoculated by the culture of the selected lactobacilli strain.

RESUMEN

The main forms of the epidemic manifestation of dysentery induced by different causative agents in 1975-1980 were revealed. During these years the cases of dysentery induced by Shigella sonnei, biovar II, were found to prevail (82.0-90.1%) both at the periods between epidemics and at the periods of the seasonal rise of morbidity. The experimental infection of white mice by intraperitoneal inoculation revealed no relationship between the seasonal rise of morbidity in dysentery and the virulence of its causative agents.
