RESUMEN

Electrochemical water splitting for hydrogen production is an ideal process for clean energy production. However, highly active and low-cost electrocatalysts are essential and challenging. In this work, a multi-component Cu-based catalyst (Ru-M-C-Cu), synergized with ruthenium (Ru) heteroatom doping, was synthesized via a facile immersion-calcination-immersion method. Based on the cotton biomass substrate, a hollow tubular structure was obtained. By virtue of its distinctive structure and high carbon content, cotton biomass assumed a dual role as a sacrificial template and a reducing agent in the eco-friendly synthesis of electrocatalysts, which was instrumental in the creation of a multi-component system augmented by heteroatom doping. The multi-component system was constructed by in-situ transformation and redox reaction during calcination in an oxygen-free environment. The Ru-M-C-Cu catalyst exhibited a competitive overpotential of 108 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2 for alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The satisfactory catalytic performance of Ru-M-C-Cu can be attributed to the fact that the Ru-O-Cu catalytic centers enhanced the adsorption and desorption abilities of the Cu-O active sites toward hydrogen. Furthermore, the hollow tubular structure allowed the electrolyte to make full contact with the active sites of the Ru-M-C-Cu catalyst, thus accelerated the HER kinetics. The catalyst showed structural and chemical stability after a 12-hour successive test. Besides, the production cost of Ru-M-C-Cu was significantly reduced by 99.1 % than that of commercial 20 % Pt/C, showing the potential as an alternative catalyst by offering a more accessible and sustainable source. This work provides a new design of sustainable low-budget electrocatalysts with the proposed strategies expected for producing clean and renewable hydrogen energy.

BACKGROUND: Accumulating evidences indicate regional grey matter (GM) morphology alterations in pediatric growth hormone deficiency (GHD); however, large-scale morphological brain networks (MBNs) undergo these patients remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the topological organization of individual-level MBNs in pediatric GHD. METHODS: Sixty-one GHD and 42 typically developing controls (TDs) were enrolled. Inter-regional morphological similarity of GM was taken to construct individual-level MBNs. Between-group differences of topological parameters and network-based statistics analysis were compared. Finally, association relationship between network properties and clinical variables was analyzed. RESULTS: Compared to TDs, GHD indicated a disturbance in the normal small-world organization, reflected by increased Lp, γ, λ, σ and decreased Cp, Eglob (all PFDR < 0.017). Regarding nodal properties, GHD exhibited increased nodal profiles at cerebellum 4-5, central executive network-related left inferior frontal gyrus, limbic regions-related right posterior cingulate gyrus, left hippocampus, and bilateral pallidum, thalamus (all PFDR < 0.05). Meanwhile, GHD exhibited decreased nodal profiles at sensorimotor network -related bilateral paracentral lobule, default-mode network-related left superior frontal gyrus, visual network -related right lingual gyrus, auditory network-related right superior temporal gyrus and bilateral amygdala, right cerebellum 3, bilateral cerebellum 10, vermis 1-2, 3, 4-5, 6 (all PFDR < 0.05). Furthermore, serum markers and behavior scores in GHD group were correlated with altered nodal profiles (P ≤ 0.046, uncorrected). CONCLUSION: GHD undergo an extensive reorganization in large-scale individual-level MBNs, probably due to abnormal cortico-striatal-thalamo-cerebellum loops, cortico-limbic-cerebellum, dorsal visual-sensorimotor-striatal, and auditory-cerebellum circuitry. This study highlights the crucial role of abnormal morphological connectivity underlying GHD, which might result in their relatively slower development in motor, cognitive, and linguistic functional within behavior problem performance.

Precisely detecting organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) is paramount in upholding human safety and environmental preservation, especially in food safety. Herein, an electrochemical acetylcholinesterase (AChE) sensing platform entrapped in chitosan (Chit) on the glassy carbon electrodes (GCEs) decorated with Pt/MoS2/Ti3C2 MXene (Pt/MoS2/TM) was constructed for the detection of chlorpyrifos. It is worth noting that Pt/MoS2/TM possesses good biocompatibility, remarkable electrical conductivity, environmental stability and large specific surface area. Besides, the heterostructure formed by the composite of TM and MoS2 improves the conductivity and maintains the original structure, which is conducive to improving the electrochemical property. The coordination effect between the individual components enables the even distribution of functional components and enhances the electrochemical performance of the biosensor (AChE-Chit/Pt/MoS2/TM). Under optimal efficiency and sensitivity, the AChE-Chit/Pt/MoS2/TM/GCE sensing platform exerts comparable analytical performance and a wide concentration range of chlorpyrifos from 10-12 to 10-6 M as well as a low limit of detection (4.71 × 10-13 M). Furthermore, the biosensor is utilized to detect OPs concerning three kinds of fruits and vegetables with good feasibility and recoveries (94.81% to 104.0%). This work would provide a new scheme to develop high-sensitivity sensors based on the two-dimensional nanosheet/laminar hybrid structure for practical applications in environmental monitoring and agricultural product detection.

Electrochromic (EC) devices represent an emerging energy-saving technology, exhibiting the capability to dynamically modulate light and heat transmittance. Despite their promising potential, the commercialization of EC devices faces substantial impediments such as high cost, intricate fabrication process, and low optical contrast inherent in conventional EC materials relying on the ion insertion/extraction mechanism. In this study, we introduce an innovative "electrode-free" electrochromic (EC) device, termed the EECD, which lacks an EC-layer on the electrodes during device assembling and in the bleached state. This device features a simplified fabrication process and delivers superior optical modulation. It achieves a high optical contrast ranging from 68-85% across the visible spectrum and boasts a rapid response time, reaching 90% coloring in just 17 seconds. In addition, EECD exhibits stable cycling for over 10,000 cycles without noticeable degradation and maintains functionality across a broad temperature range (0 °C to 50 °C). Furthermore, the fabricated large-area devices (40 cm × 40 cm) demonstrate excellent tinting uniformity, suggesting excellent scalability of this approach. Our study establishes a paradigmatic breakthrough for EC smart windows.

Food waste jeopardizes food security and causes economic and resource losses. Household food waste is the most significant source of global food waste and urgently needs to be reduced. Based on the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS), our study estimates the daily food waste data of 6,418 sample observations across China and the dietary preference scores of their household heads. Using a count regression model, our study explores the relationship between dietary preference and household food waste in Chinese households, and further explores the moderating function of household refrigerator use. The study has found that: (1) improving dietary preference score can significantly reduce household food waste ratio, and robustness tests support this finding. (2) There is a positive moderating effect of refrigerator use in the process of how dietary preference influence food waste. (3) Heterogeneity analysis shows that the impact of dietary preference on household food waste varies by gender and age of the household head, household size, economic level, urban-rural type, and north-south region. Our study provides evidence that improving dietary preference can reduce household food waste in China, which has certain implications for waste reduction in other developing countries.

Background The role of perivascular space (PVS) dysfunction in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) requires further study. Purpose To compare MRI indexes of PVS across patients with differing severities of OSA and relate them with disease characteristics and treatment. Materials and Methods This single-center prospective study included healthy controls (HCs) and patients with complaints of snoring who underwent MRI and cognitive evaluation between June 2021 and December 2022. Participants with complaints of snoring were classified into four groups (snoring, mild OSA, moderate OSA, and severe OSA). PVS networks were assessed at MRI using PVS volume fraction, extracellular free water (FW), and diffusion tensor imaging analysis along the PVS (DTI-ALPS). One-way analysis of variance and Pearson correlation were used for analysis. Alterations in PVS indexes and cognitive performance after treatment were assessed in 15 participants with moderate OSA. Results A total of 105 participants (mean age, 33.4 years ± 8.9 [SD]; 80 males) and 50 HCs (mean age, 37.0 years ± 8.6; 33 males) were included. Higher mean PVS volume fraction was observed in participants with severe OSA (n = 23) than in patients with mild OSA (n = 36) (0.11 vs 0.10; P = .03). Participants with severe OSA exhibited higher mean FW index (0.11) than both HCs (0.10; P < .001) and patients with mild OSA (0.10; P = .003). All patient groups had lower DTI-ALPS than HCs (range, 1.5-1.9 vs 2.1; all P < .001). DTI-ALPS correlated with cognitive performance on the Stroop Color and Word Test (r range, -0.23 to -0.24; P value range, .003-.005). After treatment, PVS indexes changed (P value range, <.001 to .01) and cognitive performance improved (P value range, <.001 to .03). Conclusion Differences in PVS indexes were observed among participants with differing severities of OSA and HCs. Indexes correlated with measures of cognitive function, and changes in indexes and improvement in cognitive performance were observed after treatment in participants with moderate OSA. © RSNA, 2024 Supplemental material is available for this article. In this work, we introduced a siderophore information database (SIDERTE), a digitized siderophore information database containing 649 unique structures. Leveraging this digitalized data set, we gained a systematic overview of siderophores by their clustering patterns in the chemical space. Building upon this, we developed a functional group-based method for predicting new iron-binding molecules with experimental validation. Expanding our approach to the collection of open natural products (COCONUT) database, we predicted a staggering 3199 siderophore candidates, showcasing remarkable structure diversity that is largely unexplored. Our study provides a valuable resource for accelerating the discovery of novel iron-binding molecules and advancing our understanding of siderophores.

Immune-mediated thrombotic thrombocytopenia purpura (iTTP) is a rare microvascular disease characterized by severe disseminated microvascular thrombose-bleeding syndrome. Caplacizumab has been approved for the treatment of iTTP in combination with Plasma Exchange (PE) and immunosuppressive therapy, but its role in iTTP therapy remains uncertain. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to investigate the safety and efficacy of caplacizumab for the treatment of patients with iTTP. We searched electronic databases (PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Scopus) and reference lists of relevant articles to find articles published from 2015 to 2022. The time to normalization of the platelet count of the group caplacizumab is shorter than the group placebo (SMD = -0.72; 95% CI -0.88 to -0.56; P  < 0.05). Caplacizumab reduced the incidence of mortality (OR = 0.41; 95% CI 0.18-0.92; P  < 0.05), exacerbations (OR = 0.10; 95% CI 0.05-0.18; P  < 0.05), and recurrence (OR = 0.17; 95% CI 0.06-0.50; P  < 0.05). However, the bleeding events in the caplacizumab group were higher than those in the placebo group, especially severe bleeding events. There was no difference in ADAMTS13 activity and thromboembolic events between the two groups. Our analysis indicated that caplacizumab is effective and well tolerated for the treatment of iTTP. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is one of the most common monogenic neuromuscular diseases, and the pathogenesis mechanisms, especially the brain network topological properties, remain unknown. This study aimed to use individual-level morphological brain network analysis to explore the brain neural network mechanisms in SMA. METHODS: Individual-level gray matter (GM) networks were constructed by estimating the interregional similarity of GM volume distribution using both Kullback-Leibler divergence-based similarity (KLDs) and Jesen-Shannon divergence-based similarity (JSDs) measurements based on Automated Anatomical Labeling 116 and Hammersmith 83 atlases for 38 individuals with SMA types 2 and 3 and 38 age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs). The topological properties were analyzed by the graph theory approach and compared between groups by a nonparametric permutation test. Additionally, correlation analysis was used to assess the associations between altered topological metrics and clinical characteristics. RESULTS: Compared with HCs, although global network topology remained preserved in individuals with SMA, brain regions with altered nodal properties mainly involved the right olfactory gyrus, right insula, bilateral parahippocampal gyrus, right amygdala, right thalamus, left superior temporal gyrus, left cerebellar lobule IV-V, bilateral cerebellar lobule VI, right cerebellar lobule VII, and vermis VII and IX. Further correlation analysis showed that the nodal degree of the right cerebellar lobule VII was positively correlated with the disease duration, and the right amygdala was negatively correlated with the Hammersmith Functional Motor Scale Expanded (HFMSE) scores. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings demonstrated that topological reorganization may prioritize global properties over nodal properties, and disrupted topological properties in the cortical-limbic-cerebellum circuit in SMA may help to further understand the network pathogenesis underlying SMA.

BACKGROUND: Ki-67 and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) are known oncogenes involved in bladder cancer (BCa) patient risk stratification. Preoperative assessment of their expression level can assist in clinical treatment decision-making. Recently, amide proton transfer-weighted (APTw) MRI has shown promising potential in the diagnosis of several malignancies. However, few studies reported the value of APTw imaging in evaluating Ki-67 and HER2 status of BCa. PURPOSE: To investigate the feasibility of APTw MRI in assessing the aggressive and proliferative potential regarding the expression levels of Ki-67 and HER2 in BCa. STUDY TYPE: Retrospective. SUBJECTS: 114 patients (mean age, 64.78 ± 11.93 [SD] years; 97 men) were studied. FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: APTw MRI acquired by a three-dimensional fast-spin-echo sequence at 3.0 T MRI system. ASSESSMENT: Patient pathologic findings, included histologic grade and the expression status of Ki-67 and HER2, were reviewed by one uropathologist. The APTw values of BCa were independently measured by two radiologists and were compared between high-/low-tumor grade group, high-/low-Ki-67 expression group, and high-/low-HER2 expression group. STATISTICAL TESTS: The interclass correlation coefficient, independent sample t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman's rank correlation, and receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis were used. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. RESULTS: Significantly higher APTw values were found in high-grade BCa patients (7.72% vs. 4.29%, P < 0.001), high-Ki-67 expression BCa patients (8.40% vs. 3.25%, P < 0.001) and HER2 positive BCa patients (8.24% vs. 5.40%, P = 0.001). APTw values were positively correlated with Ki-67 (r = 0.769) and HER2 (r = 0. 356) expression status. The area under the ROC curve of the APTw values for detecting Ki-67 and HER2 expression status were 0.883 (95% CI: 0.790-0.945) and 0.713 (95% CI: 0.592-0.816), respectively. DATA CONCLUSIONS: APTw MRI is a potential method to assess the biological and proliferation potential of BCa. TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 2.

Electrochemical water splitting is a possible way of realizing sustainable and clean hydrogen production but is challenging, because a highly active and durable electrocatalyst is essential. In this work, we integrated heterogeneous engineering and vacancy defect strategies to design and fabricate a heterostructure electrocatalyst (CoPv-MoxPv/CNT) with abundant phosphorus vacancies attached to carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The vacancy defects enabled the optimization of the electronic structure; thereby, the electron-rich low-valent metal sites enhanced the ability of nonmetallic P to capture proton H. Meanwhile, the heterogeneous interface between bimetallic phosphides and CNTs realized rapid electron transfer. In addition, the Co, Mo, and P active species in the electrocatalytic process exposed increased amounts of active sites featuring porous nanosheet structures, which facilitated the adsorption of reaction intermediates and thus enhanced the hydrogen evolution reaction performance. In particular, the optimized CoPv-MoxPv/CNT catalyst possesses an overpotential of 138 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2 and long-term stability for 24 h. This work offers insights and possibilities for the engineering and exploration of transition metal-based electrocatalysts through combining multiple synergistic strategies.

INTRODUCTION: Kidney transplant recipients (KTRs) have increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality. We investigated vascular biomarkers, angiopoietin-1, and angiopoietin-2 (angpt-1, -2), in CVD development in KTRs. METHODS: This ancillary study from the FAVORIT evaluates the associations of baseline plasma angpt-1, -2 levels in CVD development (primary outcome) and graft failure (GF) and death (secondary outcomes) in 2000 deceased donor KTRs. We used Cox regression to analyze the association of biomarker quartiles with outcomes. We adjusted for demographic; CVD- and transplant-related variables; medications; urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio; and randomization status. We calculated areas under the curves (AUCs) to predict CVD or death, and GF or death by incorporating biomarkers alongside clinical variables. RESULTS: Participants' median age was 52 IQR [45, 59] years: with 37% women and 73% identifying as white. Median time from transplantation was 3.99 IQR [1.58, 7.93] years and to CVD development was 2.54 IQR [1.11-3.80] years. Quartiles of angpt-1 were not associated with outcomes. Whereas higher levels of angpt-2 (quartile 4) were associated with about 2 times the risk of CVD, GF, and death (aHR 1.85 [1.25-2.73], p < 0.01; 2.24 [1.36-3.70)], p < 0.01; 2.30 [1.48-3.58], p < 0.01, respectively) as compared to quartile 1. Adding angiopoietins to preexisting clinical variables improved prediction of CVD or death (AUC improved from 0.70 to 0.72, p = 0.005) and GF or death (AUC improved from 0.68 to 0.70, p = 0.005). Angpt-2 may partially explain the increased risk of future CVD in KTRs. Further research is needed to assess the utility of using angiopoietins in the clinical care of KTRs. CONCLUSION: Angpt-2 may be a useful prognostic tool for future CVD in KTRs. Combining angiopoietins with clinical markers may tailor follow-up to mitigate CVD risk.

Construction of multi-component heterostructures is an effective strategy for electrocatalysts to improve both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) at the cathode and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity at the anode. Herein, an efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst towards overall water/seawater splitting (OW/SS) is reported with strategy of heterostructure construction (ruthenium/nickel phosphorus) on nickel hydroxide (Ni(OH)2). With the unique hydrolysis layer (Ni(OH)2), the processes of H2O hydrolysis and the adsorption/desorption of H*/O-containing intermediates (OH, O, OOH) were greatly boosted by Ru and P sites, which acted as the catalytic active centers of OER and HER, respectively. In addition, the electronic structure reconfiguration was realized through the strong interaction between multi-interfaces. For alkaline HER at the current density of 10 mA cm-2, the overpotential of Ru-P-Ni(OH)2/NF (denoted as RNPOH/NF) was 98 mV, whereas just 230 mV of overpotential was essential to stimulate alkaline OER at the current density of 20 mA cm-2. Specifically, as a bifunctional electrocatalyst towards overall water splitting, RNPOH/NF deserves cell voltages of 1.7/1.92 V and 1.75/1.94 V, respectively, to activate current densities of 50/100 mA cm-2 in alkaline water/seawater systems, together with a good durability of 12 h. This work contributes insights to the development of bifunctional electrocatalysts for overall water/seawater splitting.

The combined use of gastrointestinal hormones for treating metabolic diseases is gaining increasing attention. The potential of developing novel dual agonists targeting both cholecystokinin 1 (CCK-1) receptor and glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor to improve the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity have not been fully explored. In this investigation, we reported a series of novel GLP-1/CCK-1 receptor co-agonists constructed by linking the C-terminus of a GLP-1 receptor agonist (bullfrog GLP-1) to the N-terminus of a CCK-1 receptor selective agonist NN9056. In comprehensive in vitro assays, these co-agonists exhibited complete agonistic potency on GLP-1 and CCK-1 receptor. Remarkably, 1f displayed superior hypoglycemic and insulinotropic effects when compared to NN9056 and semaglutide. Evaluation in Kunming and diet-induced obesity (DIO) mice unveiled significant acute and enduring hypoglycemic effects of 1f. Administration of 1f to DIO mice resulted in substantial weight loss, normalized lipid metabolism, and enhanced glucose regulation. These preclinical observations strongly advocate for the therapeutic potential CCK-1 and GLP-1 pathways could be harnessed in a single fusion peptide, yielding a promising combination therapy strategy for treating metabolic disorders.

BACKGROUND: To investigate the feasibility of Diffusion Kurtosis Imaging (DKI) in assessing renal interstitial fibrosis induced by hyperuricemia. METHODS: A hyperuricemia rat model was established, and the rats were randomly split into the hyperuricemia (HUA), allopurinol (AP), and AP + empagliflozin (AP + EM) groups (n = 19 per group). Also, the normal rats were selected as controls (CON, n = 19). DKI was performed before treatment (baseline) and on days 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 days after treatment. The DKI indicators, including mean kurtosis (MK), fractional anisotropy (FA), and mean diffusivity (MD) of the cortex (CO), outer stripe of the outer medulla (OS), and inner stripe of the outer medulla (IS) were acquired. Additionally, hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, Masson trichrome staining, and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) immunostaining were used to reveal renal histopathological changes at baseline, 1, 5, and 9 days after treatment. RESULTS: The HUA, AP, and AP + EM group MKOS and MKIS values gradually increased during this study. The HUA group exhibited the highest MK value in outer medulla. Except for the CON group, all the groups showed a decreasing trend in the FA and MD values of outer medulla. The HUA group exhibited the lowest FA and MD values. The MKOS and MKIS values were positively correlated with Masson's trichrome staining results (r = 0.687, P < 0.001 and r = 0.604, P = 0.001, respectively). The MDOS and FAIS were negatively correlated with Masson's trichrome staining (r = -626, P < 0.0014 and r = -0.468, P = 0.01, respectively). CONCLUSION: DKI may be a non-invasive method for monitoring renal interstitial fibrosis induced by hyperuricemia.

The characteristics of accounting information systems (AISs) within organizations and the factors affecting their effectiveness are investigated in this study. In particular, how external consultants moderate the relationship between the determinants and AIS effectiveness is examined. A total of 167 agricultural companies in the Ben Tre Province of Vietnam were surveyed using a regression-based partial least squares structural equation model. Then, the influence of these determinants on AIS effectiveness was evaluated. The findings showed that managers' involvement and managers' accounting knowledge positively affect AIS effectiveness. Furthermore, the involvement and knowledge of managers are mitigated by external consultants, which reduces the negative influence of such involvement on AIS effectiveness. This study aims to contribute to the body of knowledge on the determinants affecting AIS effectiveness by providing agricultural companies in Ben Tre and Vietnam with insights into the effectiveness of their respective AIS activities.

The environmental impacts of excessive phosphorus emissions (PE) have been widely discussed in recent years. This study aims to calculate and evaluate the phosphorus footprint (PF) of food thrown away in Chinese universities. Based on a nationwide survey involving 9192 university students from 29 provinces and 29 universities in China, the result reveals that the PF generated by food waste in Chinese university canteens was 3.209 Kt in 2018. Furthermore, it is found that meal satisfaction, gender, regional economic level, dietary culture, and years of education all have significant impacts on lost food PF. Our findings emphasize the importance of reducing food waste in university canteens, which plays a crucial role in ensuring food security and environmental protection.

BACKGROUND: Previous neuroimaging and pathological studies have found myelin-related abnormalities in bipolar disorder (BD), which prompted the use of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging technology sensitive to neuropathological changes to explore its neuropathological basis. We holistically investigated alterations in myelin within BD patients by inhomogeneous magnetization transfer (ihMT), which is sensitive and specific to myelin content. METHODS: Thirty-one BD and 42 healthy controls (HC) were involved. Four MR metrics, i.e., ihMT ratio (ihMTR), pseudo-quantitative ihMT (qihMT), magnetization transfer ratio and pseudo-quantitative magnetization transfer (qMT), were compared between groups using analysis methods based on whole-brain voxel-level and white matter regions of interest (ROI), respectively. RESULTS: The voxel-wise analysis showed significantly inter-group differences of ihMTR and qihMT in the corpus callosum. The ROI-wise analysis showed that ihMTR, qihMT, and qMT values in BD group were significantly lower than that in HC group in the genu and body of corpus callosum, left anterior limb of the internal capsule, left anterior corona radiate, and bilateral cingulum (p < 0.001). And the qihMT in genu of corpus callosum and right cingulum were negatively correlated with depressive symptoms in BD group. LIMITATIONS: This study is based on cross-sectional data and the sample size is limited. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest the reduced myelin content of anterior midline structure in the bipolar patients, which might be a critical pathophysiological feature of BD.

PURPOSE: Biopsies play a crucial role in determining the classification and staging of tumors. Ultrasound is frequently used in this procedure to provide real-time anatomical information. Using augmented reality (AR), surgeons can visualize ultrasound data and spatial navigation information seamlessly integrated with real tissues. This innovation facilitates faster and more precise biopsy operations. METHODS: We have developed an augmented reality biopsy navigation system characterized by low display latency and high accuracy. Ultrasound data is initially read by an image capture card and streamed to Unity via net communication. In Unity, navigation information is rendered and transmitted to the HoloLens 2 device using holographic remoting. Concurrently, a retro-reflective tool tracking method is implemented on the HoloLens 2, enabling the simultaneous tracking of the ultrasound probe and biopsy needle. Distinct navigation information is provided during in-plane and out-of-plane punctuation. To evaluate the effectiveness of our system, we conducted a study involving ten participants, assessing puncture accuracy and biopsy time in comparison to traditional methods. RESULTS: Ultrasound image was streamed from the ultrasound device to augmented reality headset with 122.49±11.61ms latency, while only 16.22±11.25ms was taken after data acquisition from image capture card. Navigation accuracy reached 1.23±0.68mm in the image plane and 0.95±0.70mm outside the image plane, within a depth range of 200 millimeters. Remarkably, the utilization of our system led to 98% and 95% success rate in out-of-plane and in-plane biopsy, among ten participants with little ultrasound experience. CONCLUSION: To sum up, this paper introduces an AR-based ultrasound biopsy navigation system characterized by high navigation accuracy and minimal latency. The system provides distinct visualization contents during in-plane and out-of-plane operations according to their different characteristics. Use case study in this paper proved that our system can help young surgeons perform biopsy faster and more accurately.

RESUMEN

The development of efficient molecular catalysts for the electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is very necessary and important for fuel cells. In this work, we report a new benzene-fused porphyrin(2.1.2.1) array, BPD, with a unique S-shaped molecular conformation. The electrochemistry of BPD displays multielectron donating and accepting properties owing to the two porphyrin(2.1.2.1) blocks and degenerate molecular orbitals. The electrocatalytic HER activity of BPD is remarkably higher-that is, BPD exhibited lower overpotential, faster HER kinetics, faster charge transfer kinetics, and extended catalytic stability-than that of the porphyrin(2.1.2.1) copper complex monomer.
