RESUMEN
Sowda skin lesions are of medical and social importance in Yemen. Ivermectin (Mectizan) chose as a control strategy plan in onchocerciasis is active during 3 months for the less on clinical and histological data. After a short increase of itching and oedematous skin aspects clinical signs decrease. Some patients notice an itching rebound after 90 days. Histologically, localized ingratiates, presence of mononuclear cells and melenin loaded histiocytes and eosinophils decreased. The rythm cure has to be studied on a longer period but 3 to 6 months repetition between oral treatment with 200 micrograms/kg dose during two years could be effective.

A mini-data bank was constituted from the 73 french antiparasitic patent medicines and was implanted in microcomputer. A maximum of chemical, pharmaceutical, therapeutical and toxicological data were collected and treated by multivariate analysis. Exploitation of these informations processing allows to take out correlations between chemical structure toxicity, and specificity.

In this paper the authors have studied the structure-parasitic activity relationships through the Chemical Abstracts data base which groups together the works published in this field for the last twenty years. With mathematical methods of multidimensional data reduction using a computer it has been possible to validate the classification of human parasites on the base of their sensitivity to chemical families. The specificity of the pharmacochemical relationships was described through two factorial maps. This work shows that it is possible to find new chemical series with potential parasitic activity.

According to some of our experiments, in adult Schistosoma mansoni, the existence of receptors able to bind the molecules of 17 beta-estradiol might explain the protective power of this hormone in the experimental Schistosoma mansoni parasitosis in the mice and in the hamster.

In Dipetalonema viteae filariasis of Cricetus auratus, it seems that the natural estrogenic hormon, the 17 beta-estradiol as well as the progesterone have a part in the protection observed in the females.

A reduction in the intensity of parasitism under the effect of an implantation of 20 mg of estradiol is observed again but such result is also obtained with testostérone administered in the same way and at the same dose. On the other hand, no significant variation in the number of parasites was observed in animals having received an implantation of 20 mg of progesterone. However, serological examinations showed that the animals treated with one of these hormones all have a specific antibody level higher than the untreated control group. Finally, it is impossible to establish a relationship between level of serum antibodies and the number of parasites.

The authors have studied the influence of the sex of the host on experimental Dipetalonema viteae parasitosis in golden hamsters Cricetus auratus. The parasited hamsters are sacrificed fifteen days after testing for microfilarial count, and then the extent of the infestation is measured by counting the number of male worms and female worms. The average level of microfilarial count is significantly higher in male hamsters than in female hamsters. The same applies to the extent of parasitism: the average number of adult worms is higher when parasitosis occurs in males. However, the sex of the hamster has no influence on the proportion of male and female worms present and the degree of microfilarial count, observed in male hamsters seems to result only from the presence in the same of a greater number of worms.

The in vitro development of Candida albicans is inhibited in presence of 1-propanol and 2-propanol at minimum doses determined in the present work. For these inhibiting doses, associations with 400 polyethylene glycol which generally enhances yeast filamentation proved that this polyol is no longer able to maintain cellular development.
