RESUMEN

The state of the renin-aldosterone system in 100 patients with hypertonic form of chronic glomerulonephritis (CGN) with the preserved renal function was assessed by RIA. The control group comprised 35 patients with CGH without arterial hypertension (AH). The study showed that plasma active renin (PAR) and aldosterone (PAL) levels remained unaltered in normotensive CGN patients with the preserved renal function but tended to increase in patients with AH. PAR levels correlated with the severity of AH. The PAL level was significantly elevated in CGN patients with grade II and III AH. Results of the study suggest an important role of elevated PAR levels in the development of AH in patients with CGN and preserved renal function. Moreover, such patients show a tendency toward a rise in their PAL level.

RESUMEN

AIM: To study correlations between heart rate variability (HRV), renin activity and blood aldosteron in chronic glomerulonephritis (CGN) with intact renal function. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 136 CGN patients with intact renal function were examined (100 hypertensive and 36 normotensive patients). HRV was studied with 24-h ECG monitoring. Active renin (AR) and aldosteron in blood plasma was studied with radioimmunoassay. RESULTS: The analysis of HRV detected a progressive attenuation of vegetative impacts on the cardiovascular system with aggravation of hypertension in CGN patients with intact renal function. In hypertension of the second and third degree AR and aldosteron levels increased. CONCLUSION: With arterial hypertension progression in CGN patients with intact renal function, vegetative impacts on the cardiovascular system diminished while the levels of active renin and aldosterone rose.

RESUMEN

Serum ferritin level was studied in 158 adult patients with different forms and variants of leukemia, and it was found to be elevated in 85.4% of cases. A number of factors influencing ferritin concentration in the blood serum have been established: a high degree of serum iron deficiency, leukemic intoxication, infectious complications (pneumonia, sepsis, necrosis, etc.), hemolytic syndrome. All these factors should be taken into consideration in evaluating serum ferritin levels in acute leukemia patients.

RESUMEN

The concentration of beta 2-microglobulin in the blood serum was examined in 141 patients with acute leukemia. There were 63 men and 78 women aged 14 to 78 years. Studies performed before chemotherapy was instituted revealed a statistically significant increase in serum beta 2-microglobulin in all varieties of acute leukemia as applicable to the control values. There was a considerable scattering of individual indicators of protein concentration in the serum, which did not allow the use of measurements of beta 2-microglobulin in the blood serum as a criterion for differential diagnosis in identification of certain clinicomorphological varieties of acute leukemia. A direct correlation was established between the concentration of serum beta 2-microglobulin and the phase of the disease. The data obtained indicate that the beta 2-microglobulin test is of great help for the control of remission completeness in acute leukemias and for early diagnosis of relapses.

RESUMEN

The intraperitoneal injection of Buthus eupeus to rats (2,5 mg/kg) results in increasing of catecholamines and cyclic nucleotides content in blood. The hyperinsulinemia is observed simultaneously with the development of hyperglycaemia. It is believed that the activation of the cyclic system is a key mechanism of the neuro-humoral disturbances of homeostasis in case of scorpion venom influence.

RESUMEN

Toxins isolated from Buthus eupeus scorpion stimulated the generation of cAMP and cGMP in mouse cerebellar and forebrain slices, as well as in isolated guinea-pig heart. Pharmacological analysis of neurotropic and cardiotropic effects of toxins has ascertained the relationship between the increased level of cyclic nucleotides and catecholaminergic and cholinergic effects of toxins.
