RESUMEN

According to literature, the average age of children with unilateral atresia of the choan is six years nine months. Unilateral complete atresia of the choan makes it difficult to diagnose early: the initial diagnosis can be established in the second year of life and later, already at school age. In Russian and foreign literature in recent years, cases of diagnosing congenital atresia of choanomas in older children are known, the maximum age of children is 17-18 years, it is noted that such cases are very rare. The article describes the case of congenital unilateral complete bone atresia of the choan in a woman of 30 years. The patient underwent a complete otorhinolaryngological examination and endoscopic choanotomy with the installation of a silicone stent in the hole formed.

RESUMEN

We report a novel mechanism that allows the incorporation of Si into GaN nanowires up to and beyond the solubility limit. This mechanism is documented during the growth on vicinal (misoriented) SiC/Si hybrid substrates having the step bunches. Nanowires that are grown at these locations become heavily Si doped. Such high Si concentrations were verified by secondary-ion mass spectrometry. Photoluminescence data also point to very high carrier concentrations. Moreover, Raman spectroscopy together with quantum chemical modelling shows the build up of Si into Ga sites and indicates even the possibility of the formation of a Ga(Si)N solid solution. The microscopic mechanism responsible for heavy doping and even alloying is diffusion driven by the mechano-chemical effect, which allows for the extremely efficient injection of Si atoms into the nanowires from the step bunches at the vicinal SiC/Si substrates.

RESUMEN

The study involved 172 patients with otitis media with effusion. All patients as a method of early diagnosis of otitis media with effusion conducted multislice computer tomography (MSCT). This made it possible to check the effectiveness of conservative treatment and timely perform surgical treatment, including sanitizing intervention on the middle ear with the erased clinical picture of acute mastoiditis, and to avoid complications. With the help of MSCT of the temporal bones with the dynamic observation of patients with high accuracy, you can confirm the full restoration of pneumatization of the middle ear cavities or identify possible recurrences of exudate accumulation. Patients who underwent surgery were randomly divided into 2 groups, depending on the duration of the laser myringotomy: on the 3rd day of hospital treatment (first group) or on the 7th day of hospital treatment (second group). Absence of otorrhea from the tympanic cavity and return of hearing in patients of the first group was significantly in a shorter period (p<0.05). CO2-laser myringotomy for patients with otitis media with effusion without positive dynamic by conservative therapy is most effectively in the early stages of the disease.

RESUMEN

UNLABELLED: The objective of the present study was to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of various forms of the surgical treatment of the patients presenting with chronic odontogenic maxillary sinusitis (COMS) with special reference to its long-term RESULTS: The secondary objective was to assess the quality of life of such patients during the postoperative period. The study included 107 patients divided into two groups. The patients of group 1 (n=32) underwent radical operation on the maxillary sinuses (MS) as described by Caldwell and Luc. The patients of group 2 (n=75) were treated with the use of endoscopic surgery on maxillary sinuses. The results of the study suggest that endoscopic surgery on maxillary sinuses can be employed for the minimally invasive revision of the maxillary sinuses; it thereby ensures a smoother course of the postoperative period and improves the quality of life of the treated patients.

RESUMEN

The physical properties of black silicon (b-Si) formed on Si wafers by reactive ion etching in chlorine plasma are reported in an attempt to clarify the formation mechanism and the origin of the observed optical and electrical phenomena, which are promising for a variety of applications. The b-Si consisting of high density and high aspect ratio sub-micron length whiskers or pillars with tip diameters of well under 3 nm exhibits strong photoluminescence (PL) both in the visible and the infrared, which is interpreted in conjunction with defects, confinement effects and near band-edge emission. Structural analysis indicates that the whiskers are all crystalline and encapsulated by a thin Si oxide layer. The infrared vibrational spectrum of Si-O-Si bondings in terms of transverse-optic (TO) and longitudinal-optic (LO) phonons indicates that disorder induced LO-TO optical mode coupling can be an effective tool in assessing the structural quality of the b-Si. The same phonons are likely coupled to electrons in visible region PL transitions. Field emission properties of these nanoscopic features are demonstrated indicating the influence of the tip shape on the emission. Overall properties are discussed in terms of the surface morphology of the nanowhiskers.

RESUMEN

A convenient method has been developed to thin electron beam fabricated silicon nanopillars under controlled surface manipulation by transforming the surface of the pillars to an oxide shell layer followed by the growth of sacrificial ammonium silicon fluoride coating. The results show the formation of an oxide shell and a silicon core without significantly changing the original length and shape of the pillars. The oxide shell layer thickness can be controlled from a few nanometers up to a few hundred nanometers. While downsizing in diameter, smooth Si pillar surfaces of less than 10 nm roughness within 2 microm were produced after exposure to vapors of HF and HNO3 mixture as evidenced by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis. The attempt to expose for long durations leads to the growth of a thick oxide whose strain effect on pillars can be assessed by coupled LO-TO vibrational modes of Si-O bonds. Photoluminescence (PL) of the pillar structures which have been downsized exhibits visible and infrared emissions, which are attributable to microscopic pillars and to the confinement of excited carriers in the Si core, respectively. The formation of smooth core-shell structures while reducing the diameter of the Si pillars has a potential in fabricating nanoscale electronic devices and functional components.

RESUMEN

Defects related with rendering medical care (DMC) in the managerial and information-deontological spheres of healthcare are evaluated. Reasons of the above defects and the related peculiarities are elucidated; the necessity in eliminating them is substantiated. The authors put forward their own definition of DMC on the basis of an independent analysis.

RESUMEN

The authors propose to make crystotomy using energy of low-frequency ultrasound (the device URSK 7N 22, frequency - 26.5-30 kHz, amplitude - 40-50 mcm). The working part of the waveguide was designed in specific geometric shape. Indications to ultrasonic crystotomy and surgical techniques are outlined. A total of 29 patients were operated on. Good results were achieved in 25 patients, satisfactory results in 4 patients.
