RESUMEN

Clinical and morphological features of chronic hepatitis B (CHB), C (CHC), and B+C (CHB+C) were studied in 283 renal graft recipients. High total bilirubin serum levels were detected significantly more often in CHB and CHB+C patients vs. CHC patients. High ALT activity was noted in 65% of CHB patients and only in 45% of CHC patients (p = 0.003). Stable low activity of hepatitis prevailed in renal recipients; it was noted in 56.7% of CHB patients, 66.2% of CHC patients, and 62% of CHB+C patients. The character of pathomorphological liver changes in chronic viral hepatitis was studied in 53 renal graft recipients using puncture biopsy. Histopathological activity index (HAI, Knodell R.G. et al., 1981) witnessed a more severe liver lesion in CHB vs. CHC and CHB+C. Thus, inflammatory activity in CHB was found to be minimal or low in 13 patients, and moderate or high in 11 patients, whilst a minimal or low activity in CHC or CHB+C was found in 16 and 10 patients, respectively, and a moderate activity was detected only in two and one, respectively (p = 0.016 and 0.024 compared with CHB). Advanced hepatic fibrosis or cirrhosis was significantly more frequent (p = 0.006) in CHB patients (eight out of 24) than in CHC ones (none out of 18). The rate of advanced sclerotic changes in CHB+C was lower (one out of 10 patients) than that in CHB, and similar to CHC. Thus, clinico-morphological manifestations were more prominent in renal graft recipients with CHB vs. CHC.

RESUMEN

The action of T-activin on peritoneal macrophages of CBA mice after its introduction into the animals has been studied. In intact mice the phagocytic activity of macrophages and their resistance to the cytopathogenic action of Salmonella typhimurium live cells remains unchanged. The injection of corpuscular pertussis vaccine into mice leads to a decrease in the resistance of macrophages to the action of salmonellae. The simultaneous injection of T-activin into mice in doses of 0.1 and 1.0 microgram per animal abolishes the damaging action of the vaccine. The analysis of the in vitro action of T-activin on macrophages of intact mice revealed that the preliminary incubation of cells with the preparation sharply increases their resistance to the action of salmonellae, while its introduction simultaneously with bacteria or after them rapidly leads to the death of macrophages. The action of T-activin is supposed to be linked with triggering the biosynthetic processes mediating the resistance of macrophages to the cytopathogenic action of salmonellae.

RESUMEN

The method of the isoelectric separation of allergens isolated from Dermatophagoides ticks with the use of isoelectrofocusing has been improved. 10-12 protein fractions with isoelectric points from 3.50 to 6.55 have been isolated. Allergens obtained from D. farinae and D. pteronyssinus grown on two different nutrient media have been found to contain common protein components. In D. pteronyssinus allergen the presence of a greater number of protein fractions has been noted in the region of pH 5.25-6.00 than in D. farinae allergen.

RESUMEN

The immunostimulating effect of corpuscular pertussis vaccine on the antigen-presenting and bactericidal functions of peritoneal and splenic macrophages in CBA and C57BL/6 mice, differing in the intensity of immune response to sheep red blood cells and Salmonella typhimurium, has been studied. The study has revealed that the injection of pertussis vaccine alters the functional activity of the cells under study, the effect depending on the immunizing dose, the strain of mice and the time elapsed from the moment of immunization. Pertussis vaccine enhances the low capacity of macrophages for antigen presentation in C57BL/6 mice with low responsiveness and alters the resistance of peritoneal and splenic macrophages to the cytopathic action of salmonellae.

RESUMEN

The motility of organospecific macrophages of the abdominal cavity, spleen, lungs and liver, observed in the presence of serogroup A Neisseria meningitidis polysaccharide, formalin-killed Bordetella pertussis and acetone-treated Salmonella typhimurium, has been studied. In these experiments CBA, C57BL/6 and (CBA X C57BL/6)F1 mice have been used. The in vitro study of the motility of cells in the system of mononuclear phagocytes in the presence of bacterial antigens has revealed that these cells are functionally heterogeneous, which is manifested differently in mice of varying strains.
