BACKGROUND: Numerous studies have explored the association between fear of missing out and mobile phone addiction, but there are different viewpoints and the results are inconsistent. This study intends to estimate the strength of the correlation between fear of missing out and mobile phone addiction in general through a meta-analysis, and to analyze the influencing factors of the inconsistent results of previous studies. METHODS: We Searched China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database, Wan fang Database, CQVIP Journal Database、Web of Science Core Collection, Elsevier SD, Springer Online Journals, Medline, EBSCO-ERIC, SAGE Online Journals, PsycINFO, PsycArticles and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses。85 studies (90 independent effect size) were included from 2016 to 2023。The pooled correlation coefficient of the association between fear of missing out and mobile phone addiction was calculated by a random effects model using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis(Version 3.3). RESULTS: The main effect analysis revealed a high positive correlation between fear of missing out and mobile phone addiction (r = 0.47, 95%CI [0.44, 0.50]). Furthermore, the measurements of mobile phone addiction moderated the strength of the association between fear of missing out and mobile phone addiction, with the highest correlation measured using MPATS and the lowest correlation measured using MPDQ. The age, gender, year of publication, cultural background, and the measurements of fear of missing out had no significant effect on the correlation between fear of missing out and mobile phone addiction. CONCLUSION: The results indicated that fear of missing out was closely related to mobile phone addiction, which complied with the I-PACE model. Psychological services and mental health services should be developed to reduce the emergence of fear of missing out in the digital age and thus alleviate dependence on devices.

RESUMEN

Mixed self-assembled monolayers (mixed SAMs)-based molecular-scale electronic devices in recent years have gained great achievement in the fundamental study on charge transport mechanism and electronic functionalities. This review aims to summarize the preparation and characterization, structure modulation, and applications of heterogeneous mixed SAMs in molecular electronics. One key advantage of SAM-based molecular devices compared to single molecular devices is the ability to tune the intermolecular interactions, and two-dimensional (2-D) assembly structure allows for the optimization of charge transport in desired devices. Herein we review the qualitative and quantitative examination of the nanoscale organization and intermolecular interactions of mixed SAMs obtained by various mixed SAM preparation and characterization techniques. The use of mixed SAMs to control the structural order and compactness of SAM to form high-performance molecular electronic devices is also reviewed. Finally, we wrap up the review by discussing the challenges of this technique for the development of novel electronic functional devices in the future.

The organization of the self-assembled monolayer (SAM) determines its electronic structure and so governs the charge transport process and device performance when adopted into a molecular device. We report a systematic study on the supramolecular structure and rectification performance of the ferrocene (11-ferrocenyl-1-undecanethiol, FUT) based SAM modulated by mixed SAM with inert 1-undecanethiol (C11SH) as diluent. We compared mixed SAMs by two different post assembly strategies, i.e., post assembly of C11SH on FUT SAM and post assembly of FUT on C11SH SAM. The organization and structure of FUT in the mixed SAM were extensively studied by cyclic voltammetry (CV) using the Laviron model. Rectification properties of the mixed SAM obtained using eutectic indium gallium (EGaIn) as the top electrode revealed that the magnitude and stability of the rectification ratio (RR) strongly correlated to not only the amount but also the phase structure and orientation of the FUT in the monolayer, resulting in a tunable RR and increased stability. The mixed monolayer achieved an increased performance relative to pure FUT by post assembling FUT on C11SH SAM, which formed an optimally dense and well-packed monolayer with the FUT head resting on the top of the alkane SAM.

This study investigated the dynamic interaction of second language motivation and emotional experience for Chinese learners of English in four different contexts: (1) those in China with little or no intention of learning the language for communicative purposes; (2) those in China intending to study abroad; (3) those studying abroad in North America; and (4) those who had returned to China after studying abroad. Data included interviews with representatives from the different contexts. Analysis focused on Vygotsky's concept of perezhivanie, or how Chinese learners of English experienced their learning environments cognitively and affectively as leading to goals and goal-directed activity across their English learning experiences. Differences among learners both across groups and within the same group were found for how motivation shapes experience and how experience shapes motivation in the process of second and foreign language learning.

We studied the structure and transport properties of aromatic amine self-assembled monolayers (NH2-SAMs) on an Au surface. The oligophenylene and oligoacene amines with variable lengths can form a densely packed and uniform monolayer under proper assembly conditions. Molecular junctions incorporating an eutectic Ga-In (EGaIn) top electrode were used to characterize the charge transport properties of the amine monolayer. The current density J of the junction decreases exponentially with the molecular length (d), as J = J0 exp(-ßd), which is a sign of tunneling transport, with indistinguishable values of J0 and ß for NH2-SAMs of oligophenylene and oligoacene, indicating a similar molecule-electrode contact and tunneling barrier for two groups of molecules. Compared with the oligophenylene and oligoacene molecules with thiol (SH) as the anchor group, a similar ß value (∼0.35 Å-1) of the aromatic NH2-SAM suggests a similar tunneling barrier, while a lower (by 2 orders of magnitude) injection current J0 is attributed to lower electronic coupling Γ of the amine group with the electrode. These observations are further supported by single-level tunneling model fitting. Our study here demonstrates the NH2-SAMs can work as an effective active layer for molecular junctions, and provide key physical parameters for the charge transport, paving the road for their applications in functional devices.

We report a novel solid-state molecular device structure based on double self-assembled monolayers (D-SAM) incorporated into the suspended nanowire architecture to form a "Au|SAM-1||SAM-2|Au" junction. Using commercially available thiol molecules that are devoid of synthetic difficulty, we constructed a "Au|S-(CH2)6-ferrocene||SAM-2|Au" junction with various lengths and chemical structures of SAM-2 to tune the coupling between the ferrocene conductive molecular orbital and electrode of the junction. Combining low noise and a wide temperature range measurement, we demonstrated systematically modulated conduction depending on the length and chemical nature of SAM-2. Meanwhile, the transport mechanism transition from tunneling to hopping and the intermediate state accompanied by the current fluctuation due to the coexistence of the hopping and tunneling transport channels were observed. Considering the versatility of this solid-state D-SAM in modulating the electrode-molecule interface and electroactive groups, this strategy thus provides a novel facile strategy for tailorable nanoscale charge transport studies and functional molecular devices.

Histidine works as an important mediator in the charge transport process through proteins via its conjugate side group. It can also stabilize a peptide's secondary structure through hydrogen bonding of the imidazole group. In this study, the conformation of the self-assembled monolayer (SAM) and the charge transport of the tailor-made oligopeptide hepta-histidine derivative (7-His) were modulated through the pH control of the assembly environment. Histidine is found to be an efficient tunneling mediator in monolayer junctions with an attenuation factor of ß = ∼0.5 Å-1. Successful theoretical model fitting indicates a linear increase in the number of tunneling sites as the 7-His SAM thickness increases, following the deprotonation of histidine. Combined with the ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS) measurements, a modulable charge transport pathway through 7-His with imidazole groups of histidine as tunneling foot stones is revealed. Histidine therefore possesses a large potential for modulable functional (bio)electronic devices.

OBJECTIVE: To study the role of apelin in the prevention of pulmonary hypertension induced by hypoxia in rats. METHODS: The animal model of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension was established by exposing the rats to isobaric hypoxic chamber for 4 weeks (8 h/d, 6 d/ w). Forty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group (NC), hypoxic group(HH), hypoxic with low-dose apelin (5 nmol/(kg x d) group(LA) and high-dose apelin (10 nmol/(kg x d) (HA). [pGlu]apelin-13 was administered into the rats of apelin groups by mini-osmotic pump subcutaneously. The mean pulmonary arterial pressure(mPAP) and the mean carotid arterial pressure (mCAP) were measured by either right or left cardiac catheterization, and the weight ratio of right ventricule/left ventricule plus septum (RV/(LV + S)) were calculated. The Masson's trichrome stained lung specimens were examined by light microscope to examine the vessel wall area/total area (WA/TA), vessel cavity area/total area (CA/TA) and media thickness of pulmonary arterioles (PAMT). Meanwhile, the lung homogenates were assayed for the activity of supeeroxide dismutase (SOD) and the content of malondialdehyde (MDA). RESULTS: (1) mPAP and RV/(LV + S) of HH group were significantly higher than those of NC group. mPAP of LA and HA groups were lower than those of HH group. The RV/(LV + S) of HA group was significantly lower than that of HH group, but there was no significant difference between HH group and LA group. (2) Masson's trichrome staining revealed that WA/TA and PAMT of HH group were higher than those of NC group. Administration of apelin significantly eliminated WA/TA and PAMT in LA and HA groups. (3) CA/TA of HH group was lower than that of NC group. Administration of apelin significantly elevated CA/TA in LA and HA groups. (4) The activity of SOD and content of MDA in HH group was, respectively, lower and higher than those in NC group. Apelin treatment increased the activity of SOD in LA and HA groups while decreased the content of MDA. CONCLUSIONS: Apelin could play an important role in treatment of hypoxic pulmonary hypertension of rats and the mechanisms of protection were associated with vasodilation of pulmonary artery and inhibition of oxidative stress.

AIM: To investigate the changes and probable roles of adrenomedullin2/intermedin (AIDM2/IMD), a novel micromolecular bioactive peptide, in the lungs of rats with chronic hypoxic pulmonary hypertension. METHODS: Twenty male SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group (NC) and normobaric hypoxia group (4H). The protein levels of ADM and ADM2/IMD) in the plasma and lung were measured by radioimmunoassay and immunohistochemistry. The mRNA expressions of ADM, ADM2/IMD and their receptors C (RLR, RAMP1, RAMP2 and RAMP3 in the lung tissue were determined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). RESULTS: (1) The rat model of chronic pulmonary hypertension was confirmed by the increased mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) and weight ratio of right ventricle to left ventricle plus septum [RV/(LV + S)] in 4H group compared to NC group. (2) The concentrations of ADM in the plasma and lung homogenate of 4H group were 2.3 and 3.2 folds of NC group, respectively (all P < 0.01). The levels of ADM2/IMD were higher 89.6% and 45.0% in the plasma and lung homogenate of 4H group than those of NC group (respectively, P < 0.01, P < 0.05). (3) The mRNA expressions of ADM2/IMD and ADM in the lung of 4H group were up-regulated (respectively, P < 0.01, P < 0.05 vs. NC group). The expressions of CRLR and RAMP1 mRNAs were down-regulated (all P < 0.01 vs. NC group), while the levels of RAMP2 and RAMP3 mRNAs were no significant difference between the two groups. (4) The strong ADM2/IMD immunostaining was detected in the endothelial and adventitial cells of the rat pulmonary arteriole. CONCLUSION: ADM2/IMD, like its paralog ADM, might be closely related to the chronic hypoxic pulmonary hypertension in rats. The disorders of the gene expression and/or the synthesis and metabolism of ADM2/IMD and its receptor CRLR/RAMP1 possibly take part in the pathogenesis of chronic hypoxic pulmonary hypertension in rats.
