RESUMEN

Efficient red-green-blue primary luminescence with an extraordinarily narrow band and durability is crucial for advanced display applications. Recently, the emergence of multiple-resonance (MR) from short-range atomic interactions has been shown to induce extremely narrow spectral widths in pure organic emitters. However, achieving wide-range color tuning without compromising color purity remains a persistent challenge for MR emitters. Herein, the concept of electronic donor/acceptor "core-shell" modulation is proposed within a boron/nitrogen (B/N) MR skeleton, enabling the rational utilization of intramolecular charge transfer to facilitate wavelength shift. The dense B atoms localized at the center of the molecule effectively compress the electron density and stabilize the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital wave function. This electron-withdrawing core is embedded with peripheral electron-donating atoms. Consequently, doping a single B atom into a deep-blue MR framework led to a profound bathochromic shift from 447 to 624 nm (∼0.8 eV) while maintaining a narrow spectral width of 0.10 eV in this pure-red emitter. Notably, organic light-emitting diodes assisted by thermally activated delayed fluorescence molecules achieved superb electroluminescent stability, with an LT99 (99% of the initial luminance) exceeding 400 h at an initial luminance of 1000 cd m-2, approaching commercial-level performance without the assistance of phosphors.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: This study aimed to investigate intraocular pressure (IOP)-independent factors associated with the progression of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) with IOP ≤15 mm Hg. METHODS: POAG patients with maximum IOP ≤15 mm Hg at the Kyoto University Hospital between January 2011 and August 2021 were retrospectively enrolled. We evaluated effects of various factors on the rate of mean deviation (MD) changes in the visual field (VF) examinations using a linear mixed model. These factors included hypertension, diabetes mellitus (DM), hyperlipidemia (HL), cardiovascular disease, arrhythmia, disc hemorrhage, sleep apnea syndrome, orthopedic diseases, and malignant tumors. RESULTS: In total, 98 eyes from 68 patients were included. The baseline MD was -9.74 ± 7.85 dB. The mean rate of MD change and IOP during the observation period were -0.28 ± 0.04 dB/year and 11.8 ± 1.0 mm Hg, respectively. Comorbidity of DM or HL showed a significant positive association with the rate of MD change (ß = 0.35, p = 0.0006 and ß = 0.18, p = 0.036, respectively) in the model adjusted for age, sex, axial length, mean IOP, and standard deviation of IOP during the observation period. However, no significant association of DM or HL was found after adjusting for central corneal thickness. CONCLUSION: This study suggests that DM or HL is associated with VF deterioration in glaucoma with lower IOP, but the association may be due to differences in IOP characteristics.

Introduction: Cell-based bone regenerative therapy exhibits considerable potential in the treatment of bone defects caused by trauma, disease, and congenital anomalies. The periosteum, a fibrous membrane covering the outer surface of bone, plays a crucial role in bone formation and regeneration by sourcing osteoprogenitor cells. The remarkable osteogenic potential of periosteal cells (PCs) has led to the effective clinical implementation of PC-based regenerative therapies and tissue engineering. The abundance of progenitor cells in cultured PCs is well established; however, the heterogeneity of the cell population and its impact on bone regeneration remain uncertain. In this study, we aimed to characterize the heterogeneity of cultured PCs via single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) and to examine their osteogenic potential in vivo. Methods: Human PCs cultivated using the tissue explant method were utilized in this study. scRNA-seq and real-time PCR were performed to examine the cellular heterogeneity and osteogenic capacity of the cultured PCs. Experimental bone formation by the cultured PCs was examined using the rat model of subcutaneous implantation. Results: ScRNA-seq analysis showed that the cultured PCs were categorized into three cell types (osteoprogenitor cells, mesenchymal stem cells, and fibroblasts) with specific gene expression patterns. In addition, the cellular population and osteogenic capacity differed between the central and peripheral regions in the culture dish. The PCs in the central region showed higher osteogenic potential than those in the peripheral region. Conclusions: This study revealed the diversity of the composition of the PCs and their distinct osteogenic capabilities in different regions in the culture dish. The findings may provide promising prospects for the development of more efficacious regenerative therapeutic applications using cultured PCs in the future.

In the presence of Ni0 /PCy3 , styrene was found to participate in oxidative cyclization with tetrafluoroethylene, thus leading to the corresponding nickelacycle with a unique η3 -π-benzyl structure. In addition, the flexibility of the coordination mode in the η3 -benzyl moiety allowed the partially fluorinated nickelacycle to undergo unprecedented amine-induced α-fluorine elimination, thus leading to the construction of a fluorinated cyclobutyl skeleton.

A directly modulated DFB laser (DML) array transmitter optical sub-assembly (TOSA) operating at 112 Gbit/s was fabricated for the first time. The DML array chip, which was integrated with a GND pad, and the DML array sub-assembly were designed to suppress the adjacent electrical crosstalk of the DML array TOSA. The 3-dB bandwidths of the fabricated TOSA exceeded 18 GHz. The electrical crosstalk of the TOSA was suppressed to less than -20 dB below 18GHz. Under simultaneous 4-channel 28-Gbit/s (112 Gbit/s) operation, the OTU4 mask margins were degraded by a maximum of only 6% compared with those under discrete operation. Error-free transmissions over a 10-km single-mode fiber were demonstrated for all the lanes under 112-Gbit/s operation.

RESUMEN

We propose a novel approach for simultaneously controlling the chirp and increasing the output power of an EADFB laser by monolithically integrating a short-cavity SOA. We achieved a 40-Gbit/s 5-km SMF transmission at a wavelength of 1.55 µm by using an EADFB SOA with a lower power consumption than a stand-alone EADFB laser.

RESUMEN

We developed an InP-based 4x1 transversal filter (TF) with multi-mode interference couplers (MMIs) as a compact wavelength multiplexer (MUX) 1700 µm x 400 µm in size. Furthermore, we converted the MMI-based TF to a reflection type to obtain an ultra-compact MUX of only 900 µm x 50 µm. These MUXs are made with a simple fabrication process and show a satisfactory wavelength filtering operation as MUXs of monolithically integrated light source arrays, for example, for 100G bit Ethernet.

RESUMEN

The first ultracompact transmitter optical subassembly for long-distance, beyond-100-Gbit/s data communication systems based on a monolithically integrated light source is developed. The light source consists of four InGaAlAs-based electroabsorption modulator integrated DFB lasers (EADFB lasers) and their optical multiplexer and these components are monolithically integrated on one chip, resulting in very small chip size of 2.4 × 3.3 mm2. This small chip makes it possible to reduce the size of the transmitter module. Very small transmitter optical subassemblies (TOSAs), using the chip and employing three-dimensional interconnection board, is fabricated, whose volume is only 1.82 cc. By using the TOSA, 40-Gbit/s × 4 operation with the clear eye openings up to 10-km single mode fibre transmission is demonstrated. Electrical crosstalk under the multi-lane operation is also evaluated, and the error-free transmission is achieved with the power penalty to the discrete operation of 1 dB.
