RESUMEN

Dermis fat graft as a movable implant within the muscle cone is considered. The graft's survival depends mainly on its early vascularization which is bound to dermis, quality of the socket and suture of the recti muscles. The results of the twenty three first grafts emphasize two types of indications: Essential indications for the treatment of enophthalmos and for the treatment of migrated or extruded orbital implants. Relative indications: primary grafts and dermis-fat implantation for the treatment of contracted sockets.

RESUMEN

This paper concerns the echographic study of 38 pathological eyes suspected to be retinoblastoma cases examined between 1980 and 1983. It was a homogeneous study carried out with the same machine (Biophysic Medical's Triscan) and the same operator. No error of diagnosis was made on the 25 eyes considered to be cases of retinoblastoma. Two doubtful cases turned out to be pseudogliomas and in eleven cases the diagnosis of pseudoglioma given by the echography examination turned out to be correct. This study helps to demonstrate the importance of echography in the diagnosis of retinoblastoma and in the differential diagnosis between retinoblastoma and pseudoglioma.

RESUMEN

Echography was performed on 38 eyes enucleated for suspected retinoblastoma. The two major criteria for the echographic diagnosis of retinoblastoma were the presence of intratumoral calcifications and normal axial length of the eye with respect to age. No errors in diagnosis were made on the 25 eyes considered to be cases of retinoblastoma by echographic criteria. Two doubtful cases turned out to be pseudogliomas and in 11 cases the diagnosis of pseudoglioma by ultrasonic examination was confirmed by histopathology. The results are compared with those of 67 cases of retinoblastoma examined from 1964 to 1977 by one of the authors and to other published series. This study helps to demonstrate the importance of echography in the diagnosis of retinoblastoma and in the differentiation between retinoblastoma and pseudoglioma .
