RESUMEN

We analyzed the main properties of autologous adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction (SVF) used for the treatment of radiation-induced lesions in the rectum. No statistically significant correlation between the main characteristics of the cell product (cell number, viability) and patient's age or donor area were revealed. The stages and peculiarities of histological changes in the regenerating tissue after injection of autologous adipose tissue cells were analyzed. Morphological changes at the stages of granulation, early and complete epithelialization, and tissue maturation were described.

RESUMEN

The aim of the study was to identify the effects of virilizing and feminizing hormone replacement therapy on the morphology and function of the male and female reproductive systems in the application of technology for change of sex. The results of the pathomorphorogic examination of the uterus with appendages, testes, the corpora cavernosa, and biopsies of the prostate and mammary glands at different times of treatment in transsexual patients aged from 22 to 43 years are presented. It was found that prolonged exposure to high concentrations of exogenous hormones in the women and men significantly increases the risk of tumors and tumor-like processes, such as endocervicosis, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, metaplasia of the endometrium, endocervical and endometrial polyps, endometrial hyperplasia, proliferative processes in tubular epithelium, ovarian polycystic disease, mammary tumors, hyperplasia and metaplasia of the ductal epithelium of the prostate gland.

RESUMEN

The methods of circular dichroism, scanning microcalorimetry, electron microscopy, and proteolysis were used to study the ability of wild-type Cry3A-delta-endotoxin and three mutant toxins with cysteine substitutions in helices alpha3 and alpha4 (domain I) to form oligomeric structures in acidic alcohol solutions that reproduce the premembrane environment. At pH 2-2.2 and 20% ethanol, the mutant toxins with single substitutions E132C (alpha3) and E160C (alpha4), as well as the double mutant E132C/S160C with a cysteine bridge connecting helices alpha3 and alpha4, form short linear oligomers specific for Cry3A with a high content of the beta-structure and enhanced sensitivity to proteolysis with pepsin. The data obtained show that the formation of oligomeric structures of this type does not require any divergence of helices alpha3 and alpha4 in domain I of the Cry3A toxin. It has been demonstrated that, at higher pH values in 20% solution of ethanol, the proteins studied are in a metastable state, and their ability to form oligomeric structures depends on temperature.

RESUMEN

A number of hematological indices of the peripheral blood in patients with chronic adnexitis were mathematically calculated to evaluate a disease severity and an effect of recovery by using the traditional therapy method. It was established that the integral-and-mathematical indices of hemogram reflect clinical disease acuteness while receiving patients to hospital. A comprehensive evaluation of hematological indices makes it possible to determine the severity of inflammatory process in women, to detect the efficacy of a conducted therapy and to choose a strategy for further metabolic correction to ensure a maximum treatment effect.

RESUMEN

Differential diagnostic differences have been analyzed for faucial diphtheria (41 patients), infectious mononucleosis (219 patients), follicular and lacunar tonsillitis (71 patients), Vincent tonsillitis (22 patients). Besides specific clinical manifestations, of special importance in distinguishing the above diseases was a profound analysis of hemogram with calculations of special parameters and variants of ESR/leukocyte count ratio.

RESUMEN

The results of treating 322 patients with various forms of meningococcal infection accepted to a hospital within a year are presented. The patients were divided into 3 groups by the character of etiotropic therapy. The patients of group I were treated with benzylpenicillin and those of group 2 were treated with levomycetin sodium succinate. Group 3 included the patients, the therapy of whom with the above two antibiotics failed and they were subjected to treatment with cefazolin, cefotaxime, amikacin and other broad spectrum antibiotics. Benzylpenicillin generally proved to be the drug of choice in the antibacterial therapy of meningococcal infection. In comparison to levomycetin (chloramphenicol) it provide more rapid clinical recovery of the patients and normalization of the indices of the cerebrospinal fluid. Only failure of benzylpenicillin therapy was considered as an indication to the broad-spectrum antibiotics to be in the complex treatment of the patients. As additional methods for estimating the efficacy of antibacterial therapy it was recommended to employ calculation of the integral indices of hemograms (the leukocyte index of intoxication and the hematologic index of intoxication).

RESUMEN

A study is presented of lipid peroxidation and composition of lipids in erythrocyte membranes in 39 patients with viral hepatitis B. It was established that the content of free cholesterol, lyzophosphatidylcholins, malonic dialdehyde, lipohydroperoxides showed an increase while the level of phospholipids and antioxidant activity decreased in all patients. In patients with viral hepatitis B cytolytic syndrome the content of phosphatidylcholins and sphingomyelins was reduced while in those with cholestasis syndrome the content of phosphatidylethanolamines was reduced.

RESUMEN

To correct disbolism of vitamins C, B3, B6 and B12 due to viral hepatitis A (VHA), the patients received daily doses of the vitamins: 300 and 400 mg of ascorbic acid, 300 and 600 mg of calcium pantothenate or 90 and 180 mg of pantetin per os. 100 and 200 micrograms of cyanocobalamin alternating with 50 and 100 mg of pyridoxin was given intramuscularly every other day. The course lasted 3-4 weeks. The vitamin treatment promoted a positive trend in clinico-biochemical parameters, normalization of immunocompetent cell and serum immunoglobulins levels, of phagocytic reaction of peripheral blood neutrophils.

RESUMEN

The effectiveness of trental administration was investigated in 94 patients aged 18-65 suffering from hepatitis A or B running a moderate course. The data were analyzed for clinical features, blood red cell diene conjugates and ATPase activity, malonic dialdehyde production, plasma alcohol dehydrogenase. Administration of trental produced a positive action on lipid peroxidation, liver size, jaundice duration. Hospital stay of the patients reduced. Basing on the above observations, the authors advocate wider introduction of trental in management of virus hepatitides.

RESUMEN

A total of 260 patients aged 15 to 57 years with virus hepatitis A were examined over time for some indicators of humoral and cellular immunity (serum IgA, IgM, IgG, the phagocytic number and indicator of the completeness of neutrophil phagocytosis, cytochemical content of ribonucleic and deoxyribonucleic acids in blood leukocytes). The immunological indicators were determined in two patients' groups after intake per os of 300 mg/day of ascorbic acid for 2-3 weeks and without its administration. It has been established that in virus hepatitis A, vitamin C exerts a remarkable immunomodulating action. In view of this fact, it should be necessarily included into multimodality treatment of patients suffering from pathology under consideration.

RESUMEN

Ascorbic acid content was assayed in plasma and neutrophils of peripheral blood in 260 patients with virus hepatitis A during acute period of the disease. The data obtained have evidenced C-hypovitaminosis in these patients, that was more pronounced in the winter-spring period, according to the disease severity 300 mg of ascorbic acid for 1.5 g of galascorbin/day have proved to be the most optimal dose for vitamin C deficiency elimination. A significant decrease in T-lymphocyte level and an increase in 0-cell content were recorded in the acute period of virus hepatitis A. Ascorbic acid drugs promoted more rapid recovery of T-lymphocyte content in the peripheral blood that has confirmed the necessity of vitamin C administration in combined pathogenetic therapy of patients with virus hepatitis A.

RESUMEN

Some cytochemical characteristics were determined in peripheral blood lymphocytes and neutrophils of patients with HBsAg-positive hepatitis. The reduction of phospholipids, lysosomal cation proteins, neutrophil peroxidase and lymphocyte succinate dehydrogenase was found to correlate with the disease severity. Acid phosphatase activity and the content of lymphocyte RNA were discovered to increase depending on the disease severity. Complete recovery of the characteristics enumerated occurred only in mild forms of hepatitis.
