RESUMEN

The influence of CrCI3 in the amount of 400 mg Cr/kg of feed on antioxidant defense in populations of erythrocytes, erythroid bone marrow cells and tissues of pigs was studied. The increasing of the antioxidant defense of swine organism, as evidenced by the increase in superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activity in the fractions of "young" erythrocytes, was shown. Superoxide dismutase activity decreases, while glutathione and catalase activity increases in the erythroid cells of the bone marrow after of CrCl3 action. Oxidative processes are intensified in the liver of pigs of the experimental group, in contrast to other tissues, leading to the increase of content of TBARS-products, growth of superoxide dismutase activity and reduction of glutathione peroxidase activity. At the same time, the action of CrCl3 in other tissues activates antioxidant system, including the kidneys, lungs and myocardium, increases superoxide dismutase activity, and catalase activity in the spleen and kidneys. A decrease of content of TBARS-products and reduction of superoxide dismutase activity, as well as the increase of katalase activity and reduction of glutathione content were discovered in the skeletal muscles of pigs of the experimental group. As a result of research it is suggested to add CrCl3 to the diet of pigs to enhance antioxidant defense during their intensive growth.

RESUMEN

Adjuvant properties of the polymer containing acrylic acid, glycidyl methacrylate, triethylene glycol methacrylate and butyl acrylate have been established. Antibodies to ovalbumin and bovine serum albumin in the blood of mice were revealed using dot blot analysis and immunoenzyme analysis when applying the investigated polymer as a carrier of these protein antigens. Adjuvant properties of the polymer were compared to aluminum hydroxide, which is a component of many traditional vaccines. Experimental polymer was a stronger adjuvant because it led to an increase of specific antibodies against ovalbumin and bovine serum albumin.

RESUMEN

Based on the results of immunohistochemical analysis of the rat medulla tissue the localization of physiological prion has been established. Specifically, in rats aged one month they are placed in the gray matter near the bodies of neurons and mikrohliocytes and in animals of six and thirty months--in olive kernel core and upward path bodies. Physiological prion is localized along the nerve processes and is absent in the neuron bodies. In the medulla oblongata of animals aged six months its amount is the highest compared to animals of other age. The activity of plasma membrane ATPases in this tissue decreases with age, the content of sodium and calcium ions increases, while that of potassium is almost unchanged.

RESUMEN

Supplementation of rats' diet with beta-carotene or biomass of carotene producing yeast Phaffia rhodozyma caused a decrease of aminotransferases in the blood serum as well as a decrease of lipid peroxidation products and protein carbonil groups in the liver, brain and myocardium tissues of animals treated with tetrachloromethane. When compared to the control group the activity of superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase in the liver of carotene fed rats were respectively 1.6, 2.2, and 1.5-fold higher. Thus, these supplements to standard diet slow down development of tetrachlorometane mediated oxidative stress in rats.

RESUMEN

It was found that mice fed with brain of cattle or brain of cattle with a meat-bone flour (1:1), were capable of producing immunoglobulins which interacted with DNA, and protein and lipid fractions of mouse brain. These immunoproteins also induced death of cells of L1210 line of murine leukemia via apoptosis accompanied by changes in the animal level of proteins Bcl-2, p53 and procaspase 3. The potentials of using this experimental animal model for studying cytopathogenetic mechanisms of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies are discussed.

RESUMEN

Prion mRNA translation inhibition by antisense oligodeoxynucleotides (asODN) incorporated into immunoliposomes was investigated. It was shown that asODN complementary to cap region, start-codon region and a part of open reading frame can decrease the prion expression by 80% in L1210 cell line and by 60% in prion-replicating organs of laboratory rats. These results give grounds for further research asODN to be used as a means of prevention and treatment of prion infections.

RESUMEN

It is established that except for already known influence of pentosan polysulphate (SP-54) on the expression of pathological prion, this preparation has an inhibiting effect in respect of physiological prion. Moreover, the reduction of concentration of physiologycal prion is registered in the central and peripheral organs of the prion-replicating system. It was also shown that inhibition of the studied protein leads to the growth in copper and zinc concentration in the proper organs and tissues, but at the same time activity of Cu/Zn-dependent superoxide dismutase does not change.
