RESUMEN

The authors conducted the study on efficiency of Subalin medication for treatment children with chronic virus hepatitis. The use of improved curative complex including Subalin medication enables the regression of clinical signs of the disease, allows decreasing the signs of intoxication which alleviates the state of the children. Treatment with Subalin normalizes biochemical parameters of blood serum of the children: increase in content of whole protein, decreasing -thymol test index.

RESUMEN

The antioxidative activity of two plant growth promoters, ambiol and phonk, in a model system of photo-induced glycyltriptophane oxidation was measured. It was shown that ambiol has a significant antioxidative activity, whereas phonk is a weak antioxidant. The effects of these compounds on DNA conformation were studied in vitro and in vivo (on wheat seed shoots). In vitro ambiol had a stronger effect as compared with phonk, whereas in vivo the latter produced a more essential effect than ambiol. The assumption was done that both compounds affect indirectly the genome expression activity. Possible mechanisms of biological activity of each compound are discussed.

RESUMEN

Submitted in the paper are data on efficacy of the drug Forlax (Beaufour Ipsen, France) in the treatment of the constipation syndrome in those children presenting with associated pathology of the digestive system. The drug was found out to be effective in children, its therapeutic effect being recordable over one month in 76% of patients, which fact warrants further study of the curative potencies of the drug in children.

RESUMEN

DNP samples isolated from the cells of calf thymus and Ehrlich ascite carcinoma of mice were examined. SH-groups of histone H3 of chromatin from these cells were titrated with mercury-containing spin label and with DTNB under joint action of different salt and sarcosyl concentrations on DNP. The results revealed differences in accessibility and titration of histone H3 SH-groups in DNP of normal and tumor cells with DTNB, as well as in molecular dynamics of the mercury-containing spin label introduced to these SH-groups.

RESUMEN

A study was made of changes in the intensity of the ESR signals in tissues of sarcoma-37 and liver of mice after radiation of the tumor, administration of metronidazole, and after the combined effect of the two factors. The most pronounced changes in the ESR signals were induced by metronidazole. An appreciable increase in the content of nitrosyl complexes in the tumor was noted after the combined effect of metronidazole and radiation which was indicative of the radiation-induced formation of a large number of metronidazole anion-radicals in the tumor.

RESUMEN

It was shown that the preparation of a nitrofuran M-106 series exerts a radiosensitizing effect on tumors with contact application. The observed effect is practically absent after noncontact administration of the preparation. On the basis of the data obtained from studies of M-106 metabolism in microsomes of liver and Ehrlich ascites tumor cells of mice it is concluded that the intact form of the preparation is responsible for the radiosensitizing effect, and that the absence of this effect with the noncontact administration is due to its low concentration in the tumor because of the active metabolic transformation of M-106 in the animal liver.

RESUMEN

The time-course of the metronidazole (MZ) radiosensitizing effect after the administration of the agent to mice 7 days following the inoculation of ascites tumor cells is better correlated with the time-course of the MZ content in the above cells than with the time-course of their potential respiration intensity evaluated by the polarographic method in a closed unit. Five minutes after MZ administration the depression of respiration intensity reached 50% and might contribute to the radiosensitizing effect. After MZ administration not only "metronidazole" but also "oxygen" waves were recorded in ascites tumors of mice using the polarographic method.

RESUMEN

A study was made of the oxygen status of cells of an Ehrlich ascites tumor at different stages of its development. Radiosensitivity of the tumor cells was determined with a reference to the yield of micronuclei. It was shown that the major role in the ascites tumor oxygenation is played by its volume rather than cellularity.

RESUMEN

The paper is concerned with the effect of metronidazole, one of the radiosensitizers of hypoxic cells. Analysis of the literature data has shown that at present metronidazole can be used to enhance the sensitivity of hypoxic cells to irradiation, chemotherapeutic drugs and as a cytotoxic agent. These effects are determined by the radiation-chemical mechanism, the toxic effect of recovery products, a decrease in the content of nonprotein sulfhydryl compounds, the suppression of cell regeneration resulting from lethal injuries. The authors' experimental results obtained in 4 murine and human tumors growing in diffusion chambers have shown that the level of radiosensitization does not depend on tumor growth rate and proliferative activity, that it depends on the type of tumors and their individual features and increases with single irradiation as compared to fractional. The degree of chemosensitization also depends, to a great extent, on a tumor type, schemes of drug administration and the type of drugs.
