RESUMEN
Richter transformation is defined as a diffuse large cell lymphoma, occurring by transformation of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). We present a 64-year-old man with a history of CLL and a left parieto-occipital transtentorial extra-axial mass. The patient underwent CT and MR imaging, demonstrating a large dural-based mass with extracranial extension, which occluded the left transverse sinus. Biopsy of the mass proved a pathologic diagnosis of diffuse large cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, consistent with Richter transformation of CLL.

We report a case of pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma occurring in the midline cerebellum of a 48-year-old woman. Radiological, histological, immunohistochemical, and flow cytometric findings are discussed. Pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma typically occurs in the superficial cerebral hemispheres of young patients. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the occurrence of this neoplasm in the cerebellum. The English literature is reviewed with regard to the clinicopathological features of this uncommon form of astrocytoma.

Two cases are reported in which degenerated red blood cells were initially interpreted as representing infectious organisms. The morphology and staining characteristics of the altered red blood cells are discussed.

The occurrence of fibroelastic papilloma arising in a Chiari network in an 85-year-old man is described. Occurrence of this tumor in this location has not been previously reported, and should be added to the differential diagnosis of intracardiac masses arising in the right atrium.

A series of 5-aryl-2H-tetrazoles, 5-aryl-2H-tetrazole-2-acetic acids, and [(4-phenyl-5-aryl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)thio]acetic acids were synthesized and tested in vitro for superoxide scavenging activity, in vivo in the carrageenan-induced rat paw edema assay, and in the reverse passive Arthus reaction. The hydroxy-substituted compounds were effective as in vitro scavengers of superoxide but were not effective as in vivo antiinflammatory agents.
