[Neurofibroma of the parapharyngeal space: a case report]. / Przypadek nerwiakowlókniaka przestrzeni przygardlowej.

Neurofibroma is rarely found arising in the head and neck region. Parapharyngeal space neurofibroma is one of the rare complications of neurofibromatosis type I, occurring in less than 5% of all parapharyngeal space neoplasms. Solitary neurofibroma type II in this location has not been reported so far in literature. In this paper we describe a case of a huge neurofibroma of parapharyngeal space, indicating the main diagnostic procedures (especially CT scan), and report the surgical treatment.

[Squamous cell carcinoma of the nose and sinuses in a 18-year-old patient: a case report]. / Przypadek raka plaskonablonkowego jamy nosowej i zatok u 18-letneigo chorego.

A case of squamous cell carcinoma of the nose and paranasal sinuses in an 18-year-old male is presented. Carcinoma of the nose and sinuses is not common and accounts for 3-5% of an all malignancies in the head and neck. Peak incidence of the disease seems to occur in the 6th and 7th decade of life. No cases of nasal carcinoma were observed under the age of thirty. The authors discuss the difficulties in setting the diagnosis--nonspecific symptoms mimic those of chronic sinusitis.

[35th anniversary of surgical activities at the Otolaryngology Department of the District Merged Hospital in Zielona Góra 1953-1987]. / 35-lecie dzialalnosci operacyjnej Oddzialu Laryngologii Wojewódzkiego Szpitala Zespolonego w Zielonej Górze 1953-1987.

40,506 patients were treated at the Laryngology Department in the last 35 years. 30,787 surgical interventions were performed. The type and number of operations were analysed as well as their upward and downward tendencies. A considerable decrease in radical operations of the ears, antrotomies, antromastoidectomies and intracranial, ear and sinusal complications was noted; whereas the number of tracheotomies, laryngectomies and radical neck lymphadenectomies due to larynx neoplasm was increased.
