RESUMEN

High temperature and humidity in the environment are known to be associated with discomfort and disease, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. We observed a decrease in plasma glucagon-like peptide-1 levels in response to high-temperature and humidity conditions. Through 16S rRNA gene sequencing, alterations in the gut microbiota composition were identified following exposure to high temperature and humidity conditions. Notably, changes in the gut microbiota have been implicated in bile acid synthesis. Further analysis revealed a decrease in lithocholic acid levels in high-temperature and humidity conditions. Subsequent in vitro experiments demonstrated that lithocholic acid increases glucagon-like peptide-1 secretion in NCI-H716 cells. Proteomic analysis indicated upregulation of farnesoid X receptor expression in the ileum. In vitro experiments revealed that the combination of lithocholic acid with farnesoid X receptor inhibitors resulted in a significant increase in GLP-1 levels compared to lithocholic acid alone. In this study, we elucidate the mechanism by which reduced lithocholic acid suppresses glucagon-like peptide 1 via farnesoid X receptor activation under high-temperature and humidity condition.

INTRODUCTION: Among children who suffer from acute recurrent pancreatitis (ARP) or chronic pancreatitis (CP), acute pancreatitis (AP) episodes are painful, often require hospitalization, and contribute to disease complications and progression. Despite this recognition, there are currently no interventions to prevent AP episodes. In this retrospective cohort study, we assessed the impact of pancreatic enzyme therapy (PERT) use on clinical outcomes among children with pancreatic-sufficient ARP or CP. METHODS: Children with pancreatic-sufficient ARP or CP in the INSPPIRE-2 cohort were included. Clinical outcomes were compared for those receiving vs not receiving PERT, as well as frequency of AP before and after PERT. Logistic regression was used to study the association between development of AP episodes after starting PERT and response predictors. RESULTS: Among 356 pancreatic-sufficient participants, 270 (76%) had ARP, and 60 (17%) received PERT. Among those on PERT, 42% did not have a subsequent AP episode, during a mean 2.1 years of follow-up. Children with a SPINK1 mutation ( P = 0.005) and those with ARP (compared with CP, P = 0.008) were less likely to have an AP episode after starting PERT. After initiation of PERT, the mean AP annual incidence rate decreased from 3.14 down to 0.71 ( P < 0.001). DISCUSSION: In a retrospective analysis, use of PERT was associated with a reduction in the incidence rate of AP among children with pancreatic-sufficient ARP or CP. These results support the need for a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of PERT to improve clinical outcomes among children with ARP or CP.

BACKGROUND: Food is crucial for maintaining vital human and animal activities. Disorders in appetite control can lead to various metabolic disturbances. Alterations in the gut microbial composition can affect appetite and energy metabolism. While alterations in the gut microbiota have been observed in high-temperature and high-humidity (HTH) environments, the relationship between the gut microbiota during HTH and appetite remains unclear. METHODS: We utilised an artificial climate box to mimic HTH environments, and established a faecal bacteria transplantation (FMT) mouse model. Mendelian randomisation (MR) analysis was used to further confirm the causal relationship between gut microbiota and appetite or appetite-related hormones. FINDINGS: We found that, in the eighth week of exposure to HTH environments, mice showed a decrease in food intake and body weight, and there were significant changes in the intestinal microbiota compared to the control group. After FMT, we observed similar changes in food intake, body weight, and gut bacteria. Appetite-related hormones, including ghrelin, glucagon-like peptide-1, and insulin, were reduced in DH (mice exposed to HTH conditions) and DHF (FMT from mice exposed to HTH environments for 8 weeks), while the level of peptide YY initially increased and then decreased in DH and increased after FMT. Moreover, MR analysis further confirmed that these changes in the intestinal microbiota could affect appetite or appetite-related hormones. INTERPRETATION: Together, our data suggest that the gut microbiota is closely associated with appetite suppression in HTH. These findings provide novel insights into the effects of HTH on appetite. RESUMEN

High-frequency trading proposes new challenges to classical portfolio selection problems. Especially, the timely and accurate solution of portfolios is highly demanded in financial market nowadays. This article makes progress along this direction by proposing novel neural networks with softmax equalization to address the problem. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that softmax technique is used to deal with equation constraints in portfolio selections. Theoretical analysis shows that the proposed method is globally convergent to the optimum of the optimization formulation of portfolio selection. Experiments based on real stock data verify the effectiveness of the proposed solution. It is worth mentioning that the two proposed models achieve 5.50 % and 5.47 % less cost, respectively, than the solution obtained by using MATLAB dedicated solvers, which demonstrates the superiority of the proposed strategies.

Activated carbon (AC) is a broad-spectrum adsorbent but is flammable and has low adsorption capacities for polar and/or high-boiling volatile organic compounds (VOCs), while zeolites exhibit high thermal stability but poor adsorption of macromolecular and nonpolar VOCs. In this study, zeolite/AC composites were synthesized with the aim of obtaining broad-spectrum, efficient, and safe adsorbents for VOCs. Dimethyldiallylammonium chloride (DDA)-modified AC was used as a carrier for an in situ hydrothermal reaction enabling assembly with zeolites due to electrostatic attraction. Interface models were constructed for their phases, which revealed the binding force and simulated the binding process. The adsorption and flame resistance of the composites were evaluated. The results showed that DDA effectively modified AC to give it a long-lasting positive charge in solutions. High-silicon and pure-silicon zeolites exhibited low negative charges or were even neutral; it was difficult to combine with the modified AC via electrostatic attractions. Instead, LTA zeolites with high aluminum contents and negative charges were used, and the seed-induction method was used. Ethanol and ultrasonic dispersion were used to prevent agglomeration of the seeds and modified AC powder, so they were self-assembled electrostatically. Moreover, the crystallization time was extended and composites with high zeolite loadings were successfully prepared. According to the model calculation, the binding energy between the zeolite and AC before and after the DDA modification were 324.97 and 1076.46 kcal mol-1, respectively, and the distance between them was shortened by 2.7 Å after DDA treatment. As a result, AC and zeolite combined more closely and exhibited a stronger binding energy. The adsorption capacity for highly polar dichloromethane was improved by zeolite loading on the AC, and the bed penetration time was doubled. However, impregnation with inorganic sodium enhanced the reactivities of the organic components in the composite, and the ignition point was slightly reduced. Furthermore, the electrostatic self-assembly method can expand to prepare the LTA zeolite/columnar AC composite from shaped AC, greatly improving its application prospects.

OBJECTIVES: Drug-associated acute pancreatitis (DAP) studies typically focus on single acute pancreatitis (AP) cases. We aimed to analyze the (1) characteristics, (2) co-risk factors, and (3) reliability of the Naranjo scoring system for DAP using INSPPIRE-2 (the INternational Study group of Pediatric Pancreatitis: In search for a cuRE-2) cohort study of acute recurrent pancreatitis (ARP) and chronic pancreatitis (CP) in children. METHODS: Data were obtained from ARP group with ≥1 episode of DAP and CP group with medication exposure ± DAP. Physicians could report multiple risk factors. Pancreatitis associated with Medication (Med) (ARP+CP) was compared to Non-Medication cases, and ARP-Med vs CP-Med groups. Naranjo score was calculated for each DAP episode. RESULTS: Of 726 children, 392 had ARP and 334 had CP; 51 children (39 ARP and 12 CP) had ≥1 AP associated with a medication; 61% had ≥1 AP without concurrent medication exposure. The Med group had other risk factors present (where tested): 10 of 35 (28.6%) genetic, 1 of 48 (2.1%) autoimmune pancreatitis, 13 of 51 (25.5%) immune-mediated conditions, 11 of 50 (22.0%) obstructive/anatomic, and 28 of 51 (54.9%) systemic risk factors. In Med group, 24 of 51 (47%) had involvement of >1 medication, simultaneously or over different AP episodes. There were 20 ARP and 4 CP cases in "probable" category and 19 ARP and 7 CP in "possible" category by Naranjo scores. CONCLUSIONS: Medications were involved in 51 of 726 (7%) of ARP or CP patients in INSPPIRE-2 cohort; other pancreatitis risk factors were present in most, suggesting a potential additive role of different risks. The Naranjo scoring system failed to identify any cases as "definitive," raising questions about its reliability for DAP.

Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) is a condition defined as pancreatic loss of exocrine function, including decreased digestive enzymes and bicarbonate secretion, which leads to maldigestion and malabsorption of nutrients. It is a common complication in many pancreatic disorders. If left undiagnosed, EPI can cause poor digestion of food, chronic diarrhea, severe malnutrition and related complications. Nutritional status and fat-soluble vitamins should be carefully assessed and monitored in patients with EPI. Early diagnosis of EPI is clinically important for appropriate nutritional support and initiating pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy (PERT) which could significantly improve patient outcomes. The evaluation of nutritional status and related unique management in children with EPI will be discussed in this review.

A series of cerium-based high-entropy oxide catalysts (the ratio of CeO2 and HEO is 1:1) was prepared by a solid-state reaction method, which exploit their unique structural and performance advantages. The Ce-HEO-T samples can achieve 100% toluene conversion rate above 328°C when they were used as catalysts directly. Subsequently, the Ce-HEO-500 exhibited the lowest temperature for toluene oxidation was used as a support to deposit different amounts of Au for a further performance improvement. Among all of prepared samples, Au/Ce-HEO-500 with a moderate content of Au (0.5 wt%) exhibited the lowest temperature for complete combustion of toluene (260°C), which decreased nearly 70°C compared with Ce-HEO-500 support. Moreover, it also showed excellent stability for 60 h with 98% toluene conversion rate. Most importantly, under the condition of 5 vol.% H2O vapour, the toluene conversion rate remained unchanged and even increased slightly compared with that in dry air, exhibiting excellent water resistance. Combined with the characterizations of XRD, SEM, TEM, BET, Raman, H2-TPR and XPS, it was found that the high dispersion of active Au NPs, the special high-entropy structure and the synergistic effect between Au and Ce, Co, Cu are the key factors when improving the catalytic performance in the Au/Ce-HEO-500 catalyst.

BACKGROUND: Oxidative stress has been shown to play a critical role in the pathogenesis of hypertension. Paeonol, a major phenolic component extracted from Moutan Cortex, exerts a beneficial effect in preventing cardiovascular disease via reducing oxidative stress. The present study investigated the protective mechanism of paeonol against high blood pressure in spontaneous hypertension rats (SHRs). METHODS: Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats and SHRs received vehicle or peaonol in the drinking water for 5 weeks. Blood pressure was measured by tail-cuff plethysmography and oxidative stress in kidney and vascular tissue was examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbed assay. The functions of angiotensin II type 1 receptors (AT1R) in the kidney and mesenteric artery were measured by natriuresis and vasoconstrictor response, respectively. RESULTS: Compared with vehicle-treated WKY rats, vehicle-treated SHRs exhibited higher blood pressure, increased oxidative stress, accompanied by exaggerated diuretic and natriuretic responses to candesartan (AT1 receptor antagonist) and vasoconstrictor responses to angiotensin II (Ang II). Moreover, SHRs had higher ACE and AT1R in the kidney and mesenteric artery, and higher Ang II and lower renin levels. Interestingly, paeonol treatment reduced the candesartan-induced increase in diuresis and natriuresis and vasoconstrictor responses to Ang II, and lowered blood pressure in SHRs, accompanied by reducing AT1R protein expression in the kidney and mesenteric artery of SHR, and Ang II levels in plasma and increasing renin levels in renal cortex. In addition, these changes were associated with reducing oxidative stress. CONCLUSIONS: The present study suggests that paeonol improves renal and vascular AT1R functions by inhibition of oxidative stress, thus lowering blood pressure in SHRs.

This study examines the role of trainee involvement with pediatric endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and whether it affects the procedure's success, post-procedural adverse outcomes, and duration. A secondary analysis of the Pediatric ERCP Database Initiative, an international database, was performed. Consecutive ERCPs on children <19 years of age from 18 centers were entered prospectively into the database. In total 1124 ERCPs were entered into the database, of which 320 (28%) were performed by trainees. The results showed that the presence of trainees did not impact technical success ( P = 0.65) or adverse events rates ( P = 0.43). Rates of post-ERCP pancreatitis, pain, and bleeding were similar between groups ( P > 0.05). Fewer cases involving trainees were in the top quartile (>58 minutes) of procedural time (19% vs 26%; P = 0.02). Overall, our findings indicate trainee involvement in pediatric ERCP is safe.

Previous studies have demonstrated the safety of performing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in the pediatric population; however, few have addressed the outcomes of children undergoing ERCP during acute pancreatitis (AP). We hypothesize that ERCP performed in the setting of AP can be executed with similar technical success and adverse event profiles to those in pediatric patients without pancreatitis. Using the Pediatric ERCP Database Initiative, a multi-national and multi-institutional prospectively collected dataset, we analyzed 1124 ERCPs. One hundred and ninety-four (17%) of these procedures were performed in the setting of AP. There were no difference in the procedure success rate, procedure time, cannulation time, fluoroscopy time, or American Society of Anesthesiology class despite patients with AP having higher American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy grading difficulty scores. This study suggests that ERCP can be safely and efficiently performed in pediatric patients with AP when appropriately indicated.

Background: Endometriosis is recognized as an estrogen-dependent inflammation disorder, estimated to affect 8%-15% of women of childbearing age. Currently, the etiology and pathogenesis of endometriosis are not completely clear. Underlying mechanism for endometriosis is still under debate and needs further exploration. The involvement of transcription factors and immune mediations may be involved in the pathophysiological process of endometriosis, but the specific mechanism remains to be explored. This study aims to investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms in endometriosis. Methods: The gene expression profile of endometriosis was obtained from the gene expression omnibus (GEO) database. Gene set variation analysis (GSVA) and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) were applied to the endometriosis GSE7305 datasets. Cibersort and MCP-counter were used to explore the immune response gene sets, immune response pathway, and immune environment. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified and screened. Common biological pathways were being investigated using the kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis. Transcription factors were from The Human Transcription Factors. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (Lasso) model identified four differential expressions of transcription factors (AEBP1, HOXB6, KLF2, and RORB). Their diagnostic value was calculated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis and validated in the validation cohort (GSE11691, GSE23339). By constructing the interaction network of crucial transcription factors, weighted gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) was used to search for key module genes. Metascape was used for enrichment analysis of essential module genes and obtained HOXB6, KLF2. The HOXB6 and KLF2 were further verified as the only two intersection genes according to Support Vector Machine Recursive Feature Elimination (SVM-RFE) and random forest models. We constructed ceRNA (lncRNA-miRNA-mRNA) networks with four potential transcription factors. Finally, we performed molecular docking for goserelin and dienogest with four transcription factors (AEBP1, HOXB6, KLF2, and RORB) to screen potential drug targets. Results: Immune and metabolic pathways were enriched in GSVA and GSEA. In single sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA), most immune infiltrating cells, immune response gene sets, and immune response pathways are differentially expressed between endometriosis and non-endometriosis. Twenty-seven transcription factors were screened from differentially expressed genes. Most of the twenty-seven transcription factors were correlated with immune infiltrating cells, immune response gene sets and immune response pathways. Furthermore, Adipocyte enhancer binding protein 1 (AEBP1), Homeobox B6 (HOXB6), Kruppel Like Factor 2 (KLF2) and RAR Related Orphan Receptor B (RORB) were selected out from twenty-seven transcription factors. ROC analysis showed that the four genes had a high diagnostic value for endometriosis. In addition, KLF2 and HOXB6 were found to play particularly important roles in multiple modules (String, WGCNA, SVM-RFE, random forest) on the gene interaction network. Using the ceRNA network, we found that NEAT1 may regulate the expressions of AEBP1, HOXB6 and RORB, while X Inactive Specific Transcript (XIST) may control the expressions of HOXB6, RORB and KLF2. Finally, we found that goserelin and dienogest may be potential drugs to regulate AEBP1, HOXB6, KLF2 and RORB through molecular docking. Conclusions: AEBP1, HOXB6, KLF2, and RORB may be potential biomarkers for endometriosis. Two of them, KLF2 and HOXB6, are critical molecules in the gene interaction network of endometriosis. Discovered by molecular docking, AEBP1, HOXB6, KLF2, and RORB are targets for goserelin and dienogest.

Background: Cuproptosis, a copper-dependent controlled cell death, is a novel form of cell death that differs from known cell death mechanisms; however, its overall regulation in cancer remains elusive. Methods: Multiple open-source bioinformatic platforms were used to comprehensively elucidate the expression levels, prognostic efficiency, potential biological functions, genomic and epigenetic characteristics, immune microenvironment, and drug sensitivity of cuproptosis regulators (ATP7A, ATP7B, DLAT, DLD, FDX1, GLS, LIAS, LIPT1, MTF1, NLRP3, PDHA1, PDHB, and SLC31A1) in pan-cancer. Results: Cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs) were upregulated in most cancers tested. In KIRC, KIRP, LGG, MESO, and PCPG, most highly expressed CRGs predicted a better prognosis but poorer prognosis in patients with ACC, LIHC, and UCEC. Pathway analysis confirmed that cuproptosis regulators were associated with the metabolism-related pathways. The expression of MTF1, NLRP3, and SLC31A1 was positively related with ImmuneScore, StromalScore, and ESTIMATEScore in almost all types of tumor, whereas ATP7B, DLAT, DLD, LIAS, PDHA1, and PDHB were significantly negatively correlated with the scores. In addition, CRGs were significantly correlated with RNA stemness score, DNA stemness score, microsatellite instability, and tumor mutational burden. The expression of ATP7A, ATP7B, LIAS, and DLAT was significantly positively correlated with the drug sensitivity of Docetaxel. ATP7A, LIAS, and FDX1 were significantly negatively correlated with the drug sensitivity of UNC0638, XMD13-2, YM201636, and KIN001-260. Conclusions: The altered genomic and clinical characteristics of cuproptosis regulators were comprehensively elucidated, providing a preliminary basis for understanding the functions of cuproptosis in pan-cancer.

A series of well-dispersed CeMnO x hollow nanospheres with uniform diameter and thickness were synthesized by a novel approach combining the template method and interfacial reaction. A SiO2 template was used as a hard template for preparation of SiO2@CeO2 nanospheres by solvothermal reaction. SiO2@CeMnO x could be formed after KMnO4 was reacted with SiO2@CeO2 by interfacial reaction between MnO4 - and Ce3+. Among all the prepared catalysts, CeMnO x -3 with a moderate content of Mn (15 wt%) exhibited the lowest temperature for complete combustion of toluene (280 °C). Moreover, it showed high stability for 36 h with toluene conversion above 97.7% and good water tolerance with 5 vol% H2O. With characterization, we found that the reaction between Ce and Mn in the Ce-Mn binary oxides gave rise to increased Ce3+ and oxygen vacancies, which led to the formation of enhanced reducibility and more surface-absorbed oxygens (O2 2-, O2- and O-), and improved the catalytic performance further.

BACKGROUND: Early pregnancy loss (EPL) presents as sporadic or recurrent miscarriage during the first trimester. In addition to chromosomal defects, EPL may result from impairment of the placental-decidual interface at early gestational age due to gene-environmental interactions. METHODS: To better understand the pathogenesis associated with this impairment, cell development in chorionic villi and decidua of different forms of EPL (sporadic or recurrent) was investigated with single-cell RNA sequencing and compared to that of normal first-trimester tissue. RESULTS: Unique gene expression signatures were obtained for the different forms of EPL and for normal tissue and the composition of placental and decidual cell clusters in each form was established. In particular, the involvement of macrophages in the EPL phenotypes was identified revealing an immunoactive state. CONCLUSION: Differential gene expression and unique marker genes among cell clusters from chorionic villi and decidua of miscarried and normal pregnancies, may lead to identification of biomarker for EPL.

OBJECTIVES: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in adults has been extensively studied through multicenter prospective studies. Similar pediatric studies are lacking. The Pediatric ERCP Database Initiative (PEDI) is a multicenter collaborative aiming to evaluate the indications and technical outcomes in pediatric ERCPs. METHODS: In this prospective cohort study, data were recorded for pediatric ERCPs performed across 15 centers. A pre-procedure, procedure, 2-week post-procedure follow-up, and adverse event form were completed for each ERCP performed. Univariate and stepwise linear regression was performed to identify factors associated with technically successful procedures and adverse events. RESULTS: A total of 1124 ERCPs were performed on 857 patients from May 1, 2014 to May 1, 2018. The median age was 13.5 years [interquartile range (IQR) 9.0-15.7]. Procedures were technically successful in the majority of cases (90.5%) with success more commonly encountered for procedures with biliary indications [odds ratio (OR) 4.2] and less commonly encountered for native papilla anatomy (OR 0.4) and in children <3 years (OR 0.3). Cannulation was more often successful with biliary cannulation (95.9%) compared to pancreatic cannulation via the major papilla (89.6%, P < 0.0001) or minor papilla (71.2%, P < 0.0005). The most commonly identified adverse events included post-ERCP pancreatitis (5%), pain not related to post-ERCP pancreatitis (1.8%), and bleeding (1.2%). Risk factors for the development of each were identified. CONCLUSIONS: This large prospective study demonstrates that ERCP is reliable and safe in the pediatric population. It highlights the utility of PEDI in evaluating the technical outcomes of pediatric ERCPs and demonstrates the potential of PEDI for future studies in pediatric ERCPs.

OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study is to investigate risk factors and disease burden in pediatric acute recurrent pancreatitis (ARP) and chronic pancreatitis (CP). METHODS: Data were obtained from INternational Study group of Pediatric Pancreatitis: In search for a cuRE-2 (INSPPIRE-2), the largest multi-center prospective cohort study in pediatric patients with ARP or CP. RESULTS: Of 689 children, 365 had ARP (53%), 324 had CP (47%). CP was more commonly associated with female sex, younger age at first acute pancreatitis (AP) attack, Asian race, family history of CP, lower BMI%, genetic and obstructive factors, PRSS1 mutations and pancreas divisum. CFTR mutations, toxic-metabolic factors, medication use, hypertriglyceridemia, Crohn disease were more common in children with ARP. Constant or frequent abdominal pain, emergency room (ER) visits, hospitalizations, medical, endoscopic or surgical therapies were significantly more common in CP, episodic pain in ARP. A total of 33.1% of children with CP had exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), 8.7% had diabetes mellitus. Compared to boys, girls were more likely to report pain impacting socialization and school, medical therapies, cholecystectomy, but no increased opioid use. There was no difference in race, ethnicity, age at first AP episode, age at CP diagnosis, duration of disease, risk factors, prevalence of EPI or diabetes between boys and girls. Multivariate analysis revealed that family history of CP, constant pain, obstructive risk factors were predictors of CP. CONCLUSIONS: Children with family history of CP, constant pain, or obstructive risk factors should raise suspicion for CP.

What are the implications for public health practice?: Measures to prevent and control VL, such as health education, improving clinical diagnostics, strengthening epidemiological investigation capacity for VL cases, monitoring surveillance, and use of other evidence-based preventive measures, should be undertaken in Shanxi Province.

OBJECTIVES: Abdominal pain, emergency department visits, and hospitalizations impact lives of children with acute recurrent pancreatitis (ARP) and chronic pancreatitis (CP). Data on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in this population, however, remains limited. We aimed to evaluate HRQOL in children with ARP or CP; and test biopsychosocial risk factors associated with low HRQOL. METHODS: Data were acquired from the INternational Study Group of Pediatric Pancreatitis: In search for a cuRE registry. Baseline demographic and clinical questionnaires, the Child Health Questionnaire (measures HRQOL) and Child Behavior Checklist (measures emotional and behavioral functioning) were completed at enrollment. RESULTS: The sample included 368 children (54.3% girls, mean age = 12.7years, standard deviation [SD] = 3.3); 65.2% had ARP and 34.8% with CP. Low physical HRQOL (M = 38.5, SD = 16.0) was demonstrated while psychosocial HRQOL (M = 49.5, SD = 10.2) was in the normative range. Multivariate regression analysis revealed that clinical levels of emotional and behavioral problems (B = -10.28, P  < 0.001), episodic and constant abdominal pain (B = 04.66, P = 0.03; B = -13.25, P < 0.001) were associated with low physical HRQOL, after accounting for ARP/CP status, age, sex, exocrine, and endocrine disease (F [9, 271] = 8.34, P < 0.001). Borderline and clinical levels of emotional and behavioral problems (B = -10.18, P < 0.001; B = -15.98, P < 0.001), and constant pain (B = -4.46, P < 0.001) were associated with low psychosocial HRQOL (F [9, 271] = 17.18, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Findings highlight the importance of assessing HRQOL and treating pain and psychosocial problems in this vulnerable group of children.
