[Chronopharmacological basis for the therapy of water-salt imbalance in patients with stomach cancer]. / Khronofarmakologicheskoe obosnovanie terapii vodno-solevogo disbalansa u bol'nykh rakom zheludka.

The diurnal rhythm of water- and electrolyte uresis was compared in 50 patients with stomach cancer and 20 cases of stomach ulcer and 20 healthy subjects. A specific level of rhythmostasis (neorhythmostasis) was established in cancer patients. It is suggested that standard procedures for water-salt dysbalance correction should be improved (by integrating chronotherapy with practice).

[Analysis of the reasons for the late detection of malignant tumors (based on data from the Voroshilovgrad Province Oncological Dispensary)]. / Analiz prichin nesvoevremennogo vyiavleniia zlokachestvennykh opukholei (po materialam Voroshilovgradskogo oblastnogo onkologicheskogo dispansesra).

The share of advanced malignant tumors is approximately 22.9%, the highest incidence rate (57.1%) being among patients aged 51--70 years. They show the following distribution for different sites: gastrointestinal tract--53.12; respiratory system--23.78; female genital organs--8.12; urinary system--6.13 and other sites--8.76%. Among the main causes of the detection of malignant tumors at advanced states are superficial, irregular check-ups, errors in clinical and roentgenologic diagnosis, latent course of the disease late application for medical aid and inadequate knowledge of oncology by general practitioners. With a view to improving the doctors' qualifications and raising the standards of mass screenings, Weeks of Oncologists are being conducted, short-term courses for advanced medical training and specialized oncological mass screenings for occupational tumors are organized; and Evening University of Oncology was established.

The graduates of medical institutes are the first link in the general therapy network, where all patients with pretumor and tumor lesions are referred to for medical aid. It is the rate of their training in oncology that the number of patients with advanced malignancies depends on. To improve the teaching of oncology the writers have used the graphs of logical system, which enabled not only the student but also the teacher to concentrate their attention on the key, basic problems, to choose the necessary information and to reject an excessive secondary one. The graphs of logic system allow the student to realize and understand the structure of the subject concerned, as a whole, the relationship of separate elements under study, thus being a visual aid contributing to better mastering the subject. The former offer good grounds for a scientific approach to the teaching problems.
