RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Theobroma grandiflorum (Malvaceae), known as cupuassu, is a tree indigenous to the Amazon basin, valued for its large fruits and seed pulp, contributing notably to the Amazonian bioeconomy. The seed pulp is utilized in desserts and beverages, and its seed butter is used in cosmetics. Here, we present the sequenced telomere-to-telomere genome of cupuassu, disclosing its genomic structure, evolutionary features, and phylogenetic relationships within the Malvaceae family. FINDINGS: The cupuassu genome spans 423 Mb, encodes 31,381 genes distributed in 10 chromosomes, and exhibits approximately 65% gene synteny with the Theobroma cacao genome, reflecting a conserved evolutionary history, albeit punctuated with unique genomic variations. The main changes are pronounced by bursts of long-terminal repeat retrotransposons at postspecies divergence, retrocopied and singleton genes, and gene families displaying distinctive patterns of expansion and contraction. Furthermore, positively selected genes are evident, particularly among retained and dispersed tandem and proximal duplicated genes associated with general fruit and seed traits and defense mechanisms, supporting the hypothesis of potential episodes of subfunctionalization and neofunctionalization following duplication, as well as impact from distinct domestication process. These genomic variations may underpin the differences observed in fruit and seed morphology, ripening, and disease resistance between cupuassu and the other Malvaceae species. CONCLUSIONS: The cupuassu genome offers a foundational resource for both breeding improvement and conservation biology, yielding insights into the evolution and diversity within the genus Theobroma.

RESUMEN

Approximately 45% of patients receive medical services with minimal or no benefit (low-value care). In addition to the increasing costs to the health system, performing invasive procedures without an indication poses a potentially preventable risk to patient safety. This study aimed to determine whether a managed quality improvement programme could prevent cholecystectomy and surgery for endometriosis treatment with minimal or no benefit to patients. This before-and-after study was conducted at a private hospital in São Paulo, Brazil, which has a main medical remuneration model of fee for service. All patients who underwent cholecystectomy or surgery for endometriosis between 1 August 2020 and 31 May 2021 were evaluated. The intervention consisted of allowing the performance of procedures that met previously defined criteria or for which the indications were validated by a board of experts.A total of 430 patients were included in this analysis. The programme prevented the unnecessary performance of 13% of cholecystectomies (p=0.0001) and 22.2% (p=0.0006) of surgeries for the treatment of endometriosis. This resulted in an estimated annual cost reduction to the health system of US$466 094.93.In a hospital with a private practice and fee-for-service medical remuneration, the definition of clear criteria for indicating surgery and the analysis of cases that did not meet these criteria by a board of reputable experts at the institution resulted in a statistically significant reduction in low-value cholecystectomies and endometriosis surgeries.

RESUMEN

Brucellosis is a zoonosis prevalent worldwide and very recurrent in less developed or developing regions. This zoonosis affects livestock, generating high financial losses to producers, in addition to transmitting diseases to humans through meat consumption or handling contaminated products and animals. In this study, five extraction methods for Brucella abortus intracellular metabolites, using different solvent compositions and cell membrane disruption procedures, were evaluated. Derivatized extracts were analyzed by GC-HRMS. Raw data were processed in XCMS Online and the results were evaluated through multivariate statistical analysis using the MetaboAnalyst platform. The identification of the extracted metabolites was performed by the Unknowns software using the NIST 17.L library. The extraction performance of each method was evaluated for thirteen representative metabolites, comprising four different chemical classes. Most of these compounds are reported in the cell membrane composition of Gram-negative bacteria. The method based on extraction with methanol/chloroform/water presented the best performance in the evaluation of the extracted compounds and in the statistical results. Therefore, this method was selected for extracting intracellular metabolites from cultures of Brucella abortus for untargeted metabolomics analysis.

RESUMEN

The rising of diseases caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria has encouraged researchers to explore more antimicrobial substances, as well as chemicals capable of potentiating the action of existing ones against multidrug-resistant bacteria. Anacardium occidentale produces a fruit known as cashew nut, filled with a dark, almost black, caustic, and flammable liquid called cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL). The goal of the study was to evaluate the intrinsic antimicrobial activity of the major compounds present in CNSL, called anacardic acids (AA), as well as their possible modulatory action as an adjuvant of Norfloxacin against a Staphylococcus aureus strain overproducing the NorA efflux pump (SA1199B). Microdilution assays were performed to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of AA against different microbial species. Norfloxacin and Ethidium Bromide (EtBr) resistance modulation assays were performed in the presence or absence of AA against SA1199-B. AA showed antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacterial strains tested but no activity against Gram-negative bacteria or yeast strains. At subinhibitory concentration, AA reduced the MIC values for Norfloxacin and EtBr against the SA1199-B strain. Furthermore, AA increased the intracellular accumulation of EtBr in this NorA overproducer strain, indicating that AA are NorA inhibitors. Docking analysis showed that AA probably modulates Norfloxacin efflux by spatial impediment at the same binding site of NorA.

RESUMEN

A new worldwide concern has emerged with the recent emergence of infections caused by Candida auris. This reflects its comparative ease of transmission, substantial mortality, and the increasing level of resistance seen in the three major classes of antifungal drugs. Efforts to create a better design for structure-based drugs that described numerous modifications and the search for secondary metabolic structures derived from plant species are likely to reduce the virulence of several fungal pathogens. In this context, the present work aimed to evaluate in silico two naphthoquinones isolated from the roots of Capraria biflora, biflorin, and its dimmer, bis-biflorin, as potential inhibitors of Candida auris polymerase. Based on the simulation performed with the two naphthoquinones, biflorin and bis-biflorin, it can be stated that bis-biflorin showed the best interactions with Candida auris polymerase. Still, biflorin also demonstrated favorable coupling energy. Predictive pharmacokinetic assays suggest that biflorin has high oral bioavailability and more excellent metabolic stability compared to the bis-biflorin analogue. constituting a promising pharmacological tool.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. RESUMEN

A multiclass analytical method to determine pesticides and mycotoxins in beer-related matrices based on the dilute and shoot approach was optimized and validated according to the European guidelines SANTE/12682/2019 and EC/401/2006. Extraction used acidified acetonitrile at 1% (v/v) acetic acid, followed by horizontal shaking homogenization, centrifugation, freeze-out step for cleanup, another centrifugation, and injection into a high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry system. Linearity, detection and quantification limits, accuracy, and measurement uncertainty were evaluated, and 201, 184, and 176 analytes were validated for malt, beer, and brewers' spent grain, respectively. The limits of quantification ranged between 1 and 200 µg kg-1 and between 5 and 1000 µg kg-1 for beer and malt, respectively, and expanded uncertainties ranged between 9.7 and 50%, meeting the legislation requirements. A total of 40 samples have been analyzed thus far, and 36 of them exhibited the presence of some of the analyzed substances. The validated method is reliable and easy to apply for mycotoxin and pesticide determination in complex matrices.

RESUMEN

NEW FINDINGS: What is the central question of this study? Do mice submitted to sustained hypoxia present autonomic and respiratory changes similarly to rats? What is the main finding and its importance? Arterial pressure in the normal range, reduced baseline heart rate and tachypnoea were observed in behaving sustained hypoxia mice. Recordings in the in situ preparation of mice submitted to sustained hypoxia show an increase in cervical vagus nerve activity and a simultaneous reduction in thoracic sympathetic nerve activity correlated with changes in the respiratory cycle. Therefore, mice are an important model for studies on the modulation of sympathetic activity to the cardiovascular system and the vagus innervation of the upper airways due to changes in the respiratory network induced by sustained hypoxia. ABSTRACT: Short-term sustained hypoxia (SH) in rats induces sympathetic overactivity and hypertension due to changes in sympathetic-respiratory coupling. However, there are no consistent data about the effect of SH on mice due to the different protocols of hypoxia and difficulties associated with the handling of these rodents under different experimental conditions. In situ recordings of autonomic and respiratory nerves in SH mice have not been performed yet. Herein, we evaluated the effects of SH ( FiO2  = 0.1 for 24 h) on baseline mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), respiratory frequency (fR ) and responses to chemoreflex activation in behaving SH mice. A characterization of changes in cervical vagus (cVN), thoracic sympathetic (tSN), phrenic (PN) and abdominal (AbN) nerves in SH mice using the in situ working heart-brainstem preparation was also performed. SH mice presented normal MAP, significant reduction in baseline HR, increase in baseline fR , as well as increase in the magnitude of bradycardic response to chemoreflex activation. In in situ preparations, SH mice presented a reduction in PN discharge frequency, and increases in the time of expiration and incidence of late-expiratory bursts in AbN activity. Nerve recordings also indicated a significant increase in cVN activity and a significant reduction in tSN activity during expiration in SH mice. These findings make SH mice an important experimental model for better understanding how changes in the respiratory network may impact on the modulation of vagal control to the upper airways, as well as in the sympathetic activity to the cardiovascular system.

RESUMEN

Cholinesterase inhibitors are used in postmenopausal women for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Despite their widespread use in the clinical practice, little is known about the impact of augmented cholinergic signaling on cardiac function under reduced estrogen conditions. To address this gap, we subjected a genetically engineered murine model of systemic vesicular acetylcholine transporter overexpression (Chat-ChR2) to ovariectomy and evaluated cardiac parameters. Left-ventricular function was similar between Chat-ChR2 and wild-type (WT) mice. Following ovariectomy, WT mice showed signs of cardiac hypertrophy. Conversely, ovariectomized (OVX) Chat-ChR2 mice evolved to cardiac dilation and failure. Transcript levels for cardiac stress markers atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) and B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) were similarly upregulated in WT/OVX and Chat-ChR2/OVX mice. 17ß-Estradiol (E2) treatment normalized cardiac parameters in Chat-ChR2/OVX to the Chat-ChR2/SHAM levels, providing a link between E2 status and the aggravated cardiac response in this model. To investigate the cellular basis underlying the cardiac alterations, ventricular myocytes were isolated and their cellular area and contractility were assessed. Myocytes from WT/OVX mice were wider than WT/SHAM, an indicative of concentric hypertrophy, but their fractional shortening was similar. Conversely, Chat-ChR2/OVX myocytes were elongated and presented contractile dysfunction. E2 treatment again prevented the structural and functional changes in Chat-ChR2/OVX myocytes. We conclude that hypercholinergic mice under reduced estrogen conditions do not develop concentric hypertrophy, a critical compensatory adaptation, evolving toward cardiac dilation and failure. This study emphasizes the importance of understanding the consequences of cholinesterase inhibition, used clinically to treat dementia, for cardiac function in postmenopausal women.

RESUMEN

The present study examined the hemodynamics [arterial pressure (AP), AP variability (APV), heart rate (HR), and heart rate variability (HRV)], cardiac function (echocardiographycally), and myocardial inflammation in Balb/c mice submitted to Periodontitis, through the ligation of the left first molar, or Sham surgical procedure. The first protocol indicated that the AP was similar (136 ± 2 vs. 132 ± 3 mmHg in Sham), while the HR was higher in mice with Periodontitis (475 ± 20 vs. 412 ± 18 bpm in Sham), compared to their Sham counterparts. The APV was higher in mice with Periodontitis when evaluated in the time domain (4.5 ± 0.3 vs. 3.4 ± 0.2 mmHg in Sham), frequency domain (power of the LF band of systolic AP), or through symbolic analysis (patterns 0V + 1V), indicating a sympathetic overactivity. The HRV was similar in the mice with Periodontitis, as compared to their Sham counterparts. In the second protocol, the mice with Periodontitis showed decreased cardiac output (10 ± 0.8 vs. 15 ± 1.4 mL/min in Sham) and ejection fraction (37 ± 3 vs. 47 ± 2% in Sham) associated with increased myocardial cytokines (Interleukin-17, Interleukin-6, and Interleukin-4). This study shows that experimental Periodontitis caused cardiac dysfunction, increased heart cytokines, and sympathetic overactivity, in line with epidemiological studies indicating an increased risk of cardiovascular events in clinical Periodontitis.

RESUMEN

In this work, a GC-MS/MS method was developed for the determination of anabolic-agent residues in bovine urine. The optimized sample preparation was as follows: enzymatic hydrolysis by ß-glucuronidase-sulfatase enzyme from Helix pomatia for 16 h at 37.5 °C, liquid-liquid extraction with diethyl ether, solid-phase extraction with HLB and aminopropylsilane cartridges, and microwave-assisted derivatization using 25 µL of MSTFA/NH4I/ethanethiol and full microwave power for 2 min. The method was validated according to Decision 657/2002/EC, Codex Alimentarius, and Manual da Garantia da Qualidade Analítica guidelines. The acceptability criteria for quantitative analysis were met for α-ethinylestradiol, α-nandrolone, ß-estradiol, ß-zearalanol, ß-zearalenol, drostanolone, ethisterone, dienestrol, diethylstilbestrol, hexestrol, megestrol, methyltestosterone, and zearalenone. The analytes α-zearalenol, α-zearalanol, and norethandrolone were validated for qualitative analysis.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: In order to obtain better clinical results in anticancer therapies, polychemotherapy or combination therapies are used. For this, the combinations are required to increase the efficacy and reduce the adverse reactions of the associated chemotherapies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cytotoxic, apoptotic and (anti)proliferative potential of two sesquiterpene lactones isolated from Moquiniastrum polymorphum, 11,13-diidrozaluzanin C (1) and gochnatiolide C (2), and their associations with chemotherapeutic agents irinotecan, tamoxifen, cisplatin, 5-fluouracyl and doxorubicin in the tumoral lineage of MCF-7 breast adenocarcinoma. METHODS: The analyses were performed by MTT cytotoxicity assays, drug combination index (CI), apoptosis morphological assay and cell proliferation assay. Treatments were evaluated with short exposure times (4 h), followed or not by recovery in drug-free medium for 24 h. For the cell viability assay the statistical analysis was performed using software INSTAT, and the ANOVA/Tukey test was applied. Combination Indices (CI) was made using CompuSyn software and demonstrated through isoboles. The assays that evaluated cell death and proliferation used statistical analysis SAS 9.4 (Statistical Analysis System), and the procedure adopted was PROC NPAR1WAY. The Wilcoxon test at 5% level was applied for comparing statistical differences. RESULTS: The results demonstrated that the compounds decrease cell viability and increase their action when associated with irinotecan, tamoxifen and doxorubicin (CI < 1 and CI = 1). In periods of 4 h-exposure, the compounds cause cell death by apoptosis and after 24 h, they increase the mean number of cells in programmed cell death, especially when treated with 2. In addition, the association with doxorubicin increases the apoptotic potential induced by tested compounds. Both isolates had effect on the reduction of the number of mitoses, especially when 2 at its highest concentration is associated with doxorubicin. CONCLUSIONS: Finally, these compounds are presented as potential agents in chemotherapy combined with doxorubicin, since they trigger the mechanism of apoptosis, which, through the mechanism of action of sesquiterpene lactones, leads to a reduction in toxicity. In addition, the tested compounds have the ability to exert a synergistic action with doxorubicin, possibly by down-regulating the drug resistance mechanisms.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: A large number of studies are attempting to identify alternative products from natural sources or synthesized compounds that effectively interact with cancer cells without causing adverse effects on healthy cells. Resorcinolic lipids are a class of bioactive compounds that possess anticancer activity and are able to interact with the lipid bilayer. Therefore, the objective of this study was to synthesize a novel resorcinolic lipid and test its biological proprieties. METHODS: We aimed to synthesize a novel resorcinolic lipid belonging to the class of cytosporones, AMS049 (3-Heptyl-4,6-dihydroxy-3H-isobenzofuran-1-one) and to evaluate the toxicity of two concentrations of this lipid (7.5 and 10 mg/kg) by determining its genotoxic, mutagenic, immunomodulatory, and apoptotic effects, as well as any biochemical and histopathological alterations in mice treated with cyclophosphamide. The results were analyzed by ANOVA followed by the Tukey test A . level of significance of p < 0.05 was adopted. RESULTS: The new cytosporone AMS049 was synthesized in only three steps and in satisfactory yields. The results indicate that the compound is neither genotoxic nor mutagenic and does not alter biochemical parameters. The histological alterations observed in the liver and kidneys did not compromise the function of these organs. Histology of the spleen suggested immunomodulation, although no changes were observed in splenic phagocytosis or differential blood cell count. The results also show that AMS049 potentiates the mutagenic effect of the chemotherapy drug cyclophosphamide and that the combination induces apoptosis. CONCLUSION: These facts indicate a potential therapeutic application of this novel cytosporone as an important chemotherapeutic adjuvant.

RESUMEN

NEW FINDINGS: What is the central question of this study? New measurements for cardiovascular complexity, such as detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) and multiscale entropy (MSE), have been shown to predict cardiovascular outcomes. Given that cardiovascular diseases are accompanied by autonomic imbalance and decreased baroreflex sensitivity, the central question is: do baroreceptors contribute to cardiovascular complexity? What is the main finding and its importance? Sinoaortic denervation altered both DFA scaling exponents and MSE, indicating that both short- and long-term mechanisms of complexity are altered in sinoaortic denervated mice, resulting in a loss of physiological complexity. These results suggest that the baroreflex is a key element in the complex structures involved in heart rate variability regulation. Recently, heart rate (HR) oscillations have been recognized as complex behaviours derived from non-linear processes. Physiological complexity theory is based on the idea that healthy systems present high complexity, i.e. non-linear, fractal variability at multiple scales, with long-range correlations. The loss of complexity in heart rate variability (HRV) has been shown to predict adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Based on the idea that most cardiovascular diseases are accompanied by autonomic imbalance and a decrease in baroreflex sensitivity, we hypothesize that the baroreflex plays an important role in complex cardiovascular behaviour. Mice that had been subjected to sinoaortic denervation (SAD) were implanted with catheters in the femoral artery and jugular vein 5 days prior to the experiment. After recording the baseline arterial pressure (AP), pulse interval time series were generated from the intervals between consecutive values of diastolic pressure. The complexity of the HRV was determined using detrended fluctuation analysis and multiscale entropy. The detrended fluctuation analysis α1 scaling exponent (a short-term index) was remarkably decreased in the SAD mice (0.79 ± 0.06 versus 1.13 ± 0.04 for the control mice), whereas SAD slightly increased the α2 scaling exponent (a long-term index; 1.12 ± 0.03 versus 1.04 ± 0.02 for control mice). In the SAD mice, the total multiscale entropy was decreased (13.2 ± 1.3) compared with the control mice (18.9 ± 1.4). In conclusion, fractal and regularity structures of HRV are altered in SAD mice, affecting both short- and long-term mechanisms of complexity, suggesting that the baroreceptors play a considerable role in the complex structure of HRV.

RESUMEN

The increase in acetylcholine yielded by pyridostigmine (PYR), an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, was evaluated for its effect on the haemodynamic responses-mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR)-and their nycthemeral oscillation in mice before and one week after myocardial infarction (MI). Mice were anesthetized (isoflurane), and a telemetry transmitter was implanted into the carotid artery. After 5 days of recovery, the MAP and HR were recorded for 48 h (10 s every 10 min). Following this procedure, mice were submitted to surgery for sham or coronary artery ligation and received drinking water (VEHICLE) with or without PYR. Five days after surgery, the haemodynamic recordings were recommenced. Sham surgery combined with VEHICLE did not affect basal MAP and HR; nevertheless, these haemodynamic parameters were higher during the night, before and after surgery. MI combined with VEHICLE displayed decreased MAP and increased HR; these haemodynamic parameters were also higher during the night, before and after surgery. Sham surgery combined with PYR displayed similar results for MAP as sham combined with VEHICLE; however, PYR produced bradycardia. Nevertheless, MI combined with PYR exhibited no change in MAP and HR, but these haemodynamic parameters were also higher during the night, before and after surgery. Therefore, MI decreased MAP and increased HR, while PYR prevented these alterations. Neither MI nor PYR affected nycthemeral oscillations of MAP and HR. These findings indicate that the increase in acetylcholine yielded by PYR protected the haemodynamic alterations caused by MI in mice, without affecting the nycthemeral haemodynamic oscillations.

RESUMEN

The effect of pyridostigmine (PYR)--an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor--on hemodynamics and cardiac autonomic control, was never studied in conscious myocardial infarcted mice. Telemetry transmitters were implanted into the carotid artery under isoflurane anesthesia. Seven to ten days after recovery from the surgery, basal arterial pressure and heart rate were recorded, while parasympathetic and sympathetic tone (ΔHR) was evaluated by means of methyl atropine and propranolol. After the basal hemodynamic recording the mice were subjected to left coronary artery ligation for producing myocardial infarction (MI), or sham operation, and implantation of minipumps filled with PYR or saline. Separate groups of anesthetized (isoflurane) mice previously (4 weeks) subjected to MI, or sham coronary artery ligation, were submitted to cardiac function examination. The mice exhibited an infarct length of approximately 12%, no change in arterial pressure and increased heart rate only in the 1st week after MI. Vagal tone decreased in the 1st week, while the sympathetic tone was increased in the 1st and 4th week after MI. PYR prevented the increase in heart rate but did not affect the arterial pressure. Moreover, PYR prevented the increase in sympathetic tone throughout the 4 weeks. Concerning the parasympathetic tone, PYR not only impaired its attenuation in the 1st week, but enhanced it in the 4th week. MI decreased ejection fraction and increased diastolic and systolic volume. Therefore, the pharmacological increase of peripheral acetylcholine availability by means of PYR prevented tachycardia, increased parasympathetic and decreased sympathetic tone after MI in mice.

RESUMEN

The aim of this study was to evaluate the mineral composition of "in natura" sugarcane hydrolyzed with increasing doses of quicklime and different periods of exposure to air. The levels of quicklime (CaO) used were 0.0 (control); 0.5; 1.0; 1.5 to 2.0% based on natural matter of cane and the time of exposure to air at 0; 24; 48; 72 and 96 hours. The mineral composition was assessed through the concentrations of calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), chromium (Cr), lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd). We used a completely randomized design. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance with repeated measures for comparison of means by Tukey test at 5% probability was used. The Ca concentration changes (P 0,05) caused a modification of the Ca:P ratio in the hydrolyzed sugarcane that reached 36.46:1 at the highest dose of lime (2.0%). The levels of P, K, Mg, Zn and Cu decreased with increasing levels of quicklime (P 0,05). Regarding to the period of exposure to air, there was an increase in the concentration of K, Mg, and Mn (P 0,05). The treatment of sugarcane with microprocessed quicklime (CaO) increases the Ca content of the forage. Pb is present in the quicklime but in a concentration well below the toxic concentration for ruminants.

The study aimed to evaluate the nutrients intake and performance of Nellore heifers fed with chopped sugarcane, fresh (FS) or treated (HS) with 0.5% of Ca(OH)2 and stored during 24, 48 or 72 hours. It was used twenty-four heifers with nine months age and 119.6±8.1kg of initial body weight. The experimental design was completely randomized with four treatments and six replications. The dry matter intake showed an average reduction of 29% by adding Ca(OH)2, and didn't change with the storage period. Calcium intake was increased by the use of HS in the diet, while maintaining acceptable levels of intake. Heifers fed with HS stored during 24, 48 and 72 hours had, respectively, average daily weight gain of 41, 30 and 35% lower than those fed with FS. The treatment of sugarcane with Ca(OH)2 is not recommended for feeding Nellore heifers, due to limited intake and lower weight gain.

The objective was to evaluate the effect of unsaturated fatty acid sources supplementation on nutrients balances and milk fatty acid profile of mid lactation dairy cows. Twelve Brazilian Holstein cows in the mid lactation (mean of 128 days) and (580 ± 20kg of weight; mean ± SD) with milk yield of 25kg/d were assigned randomly into three 4 x 4 Latin square, fed the following diets: control (C); refined soybean oil; (SO); whole soybean raw (WS) and; calcium salts of unsaturated fatty acids (CSFA). Milk yield was 26.6; 26.4; 24.1 and 25.7 to the diets CO, SO, WS and CSFA respectively. Cows fed the WS treatment produced less milk (1.95kg/d of milk), fat and lactose than did cows fed the SO and CSFA. Cows fed the CSFA treatment showed less blood, urine (g/d) concentrations of N more energetic efficiency and intake of energy than did cows fed the SO treatment. Cows fed the unsaturated fatty acids sources showed more C18:2 cis-9, trans-11 CLA and trans-C18:1 FA concentration in milk than did cows fed the CO treatment. Diets with whole soybeans and soybeans oil provide more efficient digestive processes, and increase milk composition of unsaturated fatty acids.
