Introduction. The international consensus and the American Society of Hematology guidelines from 2019 established thrombopoietin analogues as the second-line therapy for primary immune thrombocytopenia cases. Objectives. To describe romiplostim usefulness in patients with immune thrombocytopenia in a third-level hospital in Cuenca, Ecuador. Materials and methods. We conducted a descriptive and retrospective study in patients with immune thrombocytopenia treated with romiplostim. We evaluated the following variables: age, gender, previous therapies to romiplostim, dose, frequency, complications, change of thrombopoietin analogue, and treatment discontinuation. Results. We included 21 patients with immune thrombocytopenia treated with romiplostim, with a median age of 49 years. All patients received corticosteroids as first-line treatment. Three patients required longer administration intervals (over a week), with weekly doses lower than those recommended (< 1 µg/kg). Due to lack of efficacy, six patients replaced elthrombopag with romiplostim. Of the total, three suffered thrombotic complications: two had portal venous thrombosis, and one had pulmonary thromboembolism; five of the patients discontinued romiplostim scheme without resuming it. Conclusions. Romiplostim constitutes a convenient second-line therapy in immune thrombocytopenia. Despite the small sample size, romiplostim early use can minimize toxicities and infectious risks.


Introducción: El consenso internacional y la guía del 2019 de la American Society of Hematology, establecieron a los análogos de la trombopoyetina como medicamentos de segunda línea para tratar la trombocitopenia inmunitaria primaria. En Ecuador, se comercializan dos trombomiméticos: romiplostim y eltrombopag OBJETIVOS: Describir el uso de romiplostim en pacientes con trombocitopenia inmunitaria, en un hospital de tercer nivel en Cuenca (Ecuador). Materiales y métodos. Se adelantó un estudio descriptivo y retrospectivo en pacientes con trombocitopenia inmunitaria y tratamiento con romiplostim. Se evaluaron las siguientes variables: edad, sexo, tratamientos previos a romiplostim, dosis, frecuencia, complicaciones, cambio de análogo de trombopoyetina y discontinuación de la terapia. RESULTADOS: Veintiún pacientes con trombocitopenia inmunitaria fueron tratados con romiplostim, con una mediana de 49 años. Todos recibieron corticoides como tratamiento de primera línea. Tres precisaron de intervalos más prolongados que el semanal, con dosis semanales menores de las recomendadas (< 1 µg/kg). Por falta de eficacia, en seis pacientes se reemplazó la terapia con eltrombopag por romiplostim. Tres pacientes padecieron complicaciones trombóticas: dos, trombosis venosa portal, y uno, tromboembolia pulmonar. En cinco, se discontinuó el tratamiento con romiplostim, sin necesidad de reanudarlo. CONCLUSIONES: Romiplostim constituye un tratamiento de segunda línea para la trombocitopenia inmunitaria primaria. A pesar del reducido tamaño de la muestra, se observó que la administración temprana del medicamento puede minimizar toxicidades y riesgos infecciosos.

In pursuit of potential agents to treat Chagas disease and leishmaniasis, we report the design, synthesis, and identification novel naphthoquinone hydrazide-based molecular hybrids. The compounds were subjected to in vitro trypanocide and leishmanicidal activities. N'-(1,4-Dioxo-1,4-dihydronaphthalen-2-yl)-3,5-dimethoxybenzohydrazide (13) showed the best performance against Trypanosoma cruzi (IC50 1.83 µM) and Leishmania amazonensis (IC50 9.65 µM). 4-Bromo-N'-(1,4-dioxo-1,4-dihydronaphthalen-2-yl)benzohydrazide (16) exhibited leishmanicidal activity (IC50 12.16 µM). Regarding trypanocide activity, compound 13 was low cytotoxic to LLC-MK2 cells (SI = 95.28). Furthermore, through molecular modeling studies, the cysteine proteases cruzain, rhodesain and CPB2.8 were identified as the potential biological targets.

The development of coordination compounds with antineoplastic therapeutic properties is currently focused on non-covalent interactions with deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Additionally, the interaction profiles of these compounds with globular plasma proteins, particularly serum albumin, warrant thorough evaluation. In this study, we report on the interactions between biomolecules and complexes featuring hydrazone-type imine ligands coordinated with vanadium. The potential to enhance the therapeutic efficiency of these compounds through mitochondrial targeting is explored. This targeting is facilitated by the derivatization of ligands with triphenylphosphonium groups. Thus, this work presents the synthesis, characterization, interactions, and cytotoxicity of dioxidovanadium(V) complexes (C1-C5) with a triphenylphosphonium moiety. These VV-species are coordinated to hydrazone-type iminic ligands derived from (3-formyl-4-hydroxybenzyl)triphenylphosphonium chloride ([AH]Cl) and aromatic hydrazides ([H2L1]Cl-[H2L5]Cl). The structures of the five complexes were elucidated through single-crystal X-ray diffraction and vibrational spectroscopies, confirming the presence of dioxidovanadium(V) species in various geometries with degrees of distortion (τ = 0.03-0.50) and highlighting their zwitterionic characteristics. The molecular structural stability of C1-C5 in solution was ascertained using 1H, 19F, 31P, and 51V-nuclear magnetic resonance. Moreover, their interactions with biomolecules were evaluated using diverse spectroscopic methodologies and molecular docking, indicating moderate interactions (Kb ≈ 104 M-1) with calf thymus DNA in the minor groove and with human serum albumin, predominantly in the superficial IB subdomain. Lastly, the cytotoxic potentials of these complexes were assessed in keratinocytes of the HaCaT lineage, revealing that C1-C5 induce a reduction in metabolic activity and cell viability through apoptotic pathways.

Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi) causes Chagas, which is a neglected tropical disease (NTD). WHO estimates that 6 to 7 million people are infected worldwide. Current treatment is done with benznidazole (BZN), which is very toxic and effective only in the acute phase of the disease. In this work, we designed, synthesized, and characterized thirteen new phenoxyhydrazine-thiazole compounds and applied molecular docking and in vitro methods to investigate cell cytotoxicity, trypanocide activity, nitric oxide (NO) production, cell death, and immunomodulation. We observed a higher predicted affinity of the compounds for the squalene synthase and 14-alpha demethylase enzymes of T. cruzi. Moreover, the compounds displayed a higher predicted affinity for human TLR2 and TLR4, were mildly toxic in vitro for most mammalian cell types tested, and LIZ531 (IC50 2.8 µM) was highly toxic for epimastigotes, LIZ311 (IC50 8.6 µM) for trypomastigotes, and LIZ331 (IC50 1.9 µM) for amastigotes. We observed that LIZ311 (IC50 2.5 µM), LIZ431 (IC50 4.1 µM) and LIZ531 (IC50 5 µM) induced 200 µg/mL of NO and JM14 induced NO production in three different concentrations tested. The compound LIZ331 induced the production of TNF and IL-6. LIZ311 induced the secretion of TNF, IFNγ, IL-2, IL-4, IL-10, and IL-17, cell death by apoptosis, decreased acidic compartment formation, and induced changes in the mitochondrial membrane potential. Taken together, LIZ311 is a promising anti-T. cruzi compound is not toxic to mammalian cells and has increased antiparasitic activity and immunomodulatory properties.

Copper can be opportunely complexed to modulate oncogenic pathways, being a promising strategy for cancer treatment. Herein, three new copper(II) complexes containing long-chain aliphatic hydrazides and 1,10-phenanthroline (1,10-phen), namely, [Cu(octh)(1,10-phen)(H2O)](NO3)21, [Cu(dech)(1,10-phen)(H2O)](NO3)22 and [Cu(dodh)(1,10-phen)(H2O)](NO3)2.H2O 3 (where octh = octanoic hydrazide, dech = decanoic hydrazide, dodh = dodecanoic hydrazide) were successfully prepared and characterized by several physical-chemical methods. Furthermore, X-ray structural analysis of complex 2 indicated that the geometry around the copper(II) ion is distorted square-pyramidal, in which hydrazide and 1,10-phenanthroline act as bidentate ligands. A water molecule in the apical position completes the coordination sphere of the metal ion. All new copper(II) complexes were cytotoxic to breast cancer cell lines (MCF7, MDA-MB-453, MDA-MB-231, and MDA-MB-157) and selective when compared to the non tumor lineage MCF-10A. In particular, complex 2 showed half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values ranging between 2.7 and 13.4 µM in MDA-MB231 cells after 24 and 48 h of treatment, respectively. Furthermore, this complex proved to be more selective for tumor cell lines when compared to doxorubicin and docetaxel. Complex 2 inhibited the clonogenicity of MDA-MB231 cells, increasing adenosine diphosphate (ADP) hydrolysis and upregulating ecto-nucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase 1 (ENTPD1) transcriptional levels. In this sense, we suggest that the inhibitory effect on cell proliferation may be related to the modulation of adenosine monophosphate (AMP) levels. Thus, a novel copper(II) complex with increased cytotoxic effects and selectivity against breast cancer cells was obtained, contributing to medicinal chemistry efforts toward the development of new chemotherapeutic agents.

In this work, we describe the design, synthesis, characterization, photophysical evaluation, DFT calculations, and application of two novel fluorescent benzothiadiazole (BTD) sensors for hydrazine detection and quantification at the cellular and multicellular (in vivo) levels. The two probes were fully characterized, and their photophysical properties were evaluated. We tested the designed fluorogenic dye (named BTD-CHO) as a selective sensor for the rapid, sensitive, and selective detection of hydrazine. When treated with N2H4, the probe affords a new derivative named BTD-HZN, releasing water as the only byproduct. BTD-CHO exhibited a preference for lipid droplets (LDs) and accumulated inside these organelles. Hydrazine detection in LDs could be carried out by the in situ formation of BTD-HZN inside live cells. We efficiently visualized the lipids of a challenging cellular model, microalgae (Chlorella sorokiniana), using these sensors. In vivo experiments indicated rapid and efficient detection of the analyte using C. elegans and zebrafish (Danio rerio) as the multicellular models.

Prostate Cancer (PCa) is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men worldwide. The treatment of advanced cases is based on chemotherapy, which lacks specificity and efficacy, due to severe side effects and resistance to the traditional drugs. Copper complexes have shown antitumoral efficacy and low toxicity, being considered a promising class of metal-based drugs for the treatment of malignant neoplasms. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the cellular effects of a copper(II) complex with 4-fluorophenoxyacetic acid hydrazide and 1,10-phenanthroline (1) on PCa cell lines, as well as the mutagenic/recombinogenic and anticarcinogenic potential of 1 in Drosophila melanogaster. PNT-2 (non-tumorigenic), LNCaP (hormone-responsive PCa) and PC-3 (androgen-independent PCa) cells were cultured, and cytotoxicity was assessed using the MTT assay. The expression levels of the proliferation markers Ki-67 and Cyclin D1 were analyzed by flow cytometry. Furthermore, the Somatic Mutation and Recombination Test (SMART) and the Epithelial Tumor Test (ETT) were performed. Complex 1 was selective to LNCaP cells, significantly reducing Ki-67 and Cyclin D1 expression levels. Sub-toxic concentrations of complex 1 were defined by the toxicity test in D. melanogaster, and no mutagenic/recombinogenic/carcinogenic effects were observed. Anticarcinogenic potential was observed in D. melanogaster, suggesting modulating activity of the complex 1 against Doxorubicin, a drug used as control by its carcinogenic properties. Therefore, complex 1 is a possible starting point for the development of new antitumor agents for the treatment of PCa.

This article discusses the reactivity of 6-azaindazole (1) and 2,6-naphthyridine (2), proposed to be "heteroaromatic rings of the future," which would be useful for fragment-based drug discovery (FBDD) campaigns, developing growth vectors for fragment elaboration by selectively functionalizing different positions on the rings. The pyridone oxygens and pyrazole nitrogen can be functionalized selectively. Arylation at the α-carbon of the pyridone moiety was achieved by a transition metal-free radical cross-coupling using aryl hydrazines. This method proceeded under mild conditions without the need for protection of the hydroxypyridine. Additionally, we developed a method for the regioselective C-3 functionalization of heterocycle 1via N-sulfonamide rearrangement. This method involved a novel regioselective base-mediated N-C migration of the N-1 sulfonamide to yield the C-3 sulfone. This procedure is also applicable for indazole C-3 functionalization and mechanistic studies of the rearrangement suggest that an intermolecular process is involved. These reactions enable the fragment elaboration of heterocycles 1 and 2 in several growth vectors to facilitate their use in FBDD.

BACKGROUND Numerous treatment options are available for patients with multiple myeloma (MM). Because of the course of the disease, most patients will experience serial relapse or the MM will become refractory to most of these treatments, leaving patients with few or no treatment options over time. Selinexor, a treatment with a novel mechanism of action, is an oral selective inhibitor of nuclear export (SINE) compound that blocks exportin 1, the major nuclear exporter of tumor suppressor proteins. CASE REPORT In this case series, we report on treatment with the weekly oral administration of selinexor combined with bortezomib and dexamethasone (XVd) in 3 patients from Argentina who were heavily treated (5-7 prior therapies) for MM that relapsed or was refractory to each previous treatment. Two patients had the high-risk cytogenetic abnormality del(17p). All 3 patients experienced efficacy with XVd reaching a best response of partial response or very good partial response. These responses were consistent with those of patients from the BOSTON study who were treated with XVd but were less heavily pretreated (1-3 prior therapies) and had a shorter median time since diagnosis of MM (7 years vs 3.7 years). The 3 patients experienced adverse events (AEs) that included nausea, thrombocytopenia, asthenia, and fatigue, which were similar to the most commonly reported AEs associated with selinexor treatment. CONCLUSIONS With its oral administration, novel mechanism of action, and responses in heavily pretreated patients, selinexor may help to address an important clinical need in the treatment of patients with relapsed/refractory MM.

The present study reports a simple two-step method for the synthesis of arylselanyl hydrazide derivatives using hypophosphorous acid and polyethylene glycol (H3 PO2 /PEG-400) as an alternative reducing system and hydrazine hydrate (NH2 NH2 ⋅xH2 O/50-60 %). This single-vessel procedure was employed with methyl acrylate 2a and methyl bromoacetate 2b using diaryl diselenides to generate the nucleophile species to produce, respectively, 3-(arylselanyl)propane-hydrazides 4a-e and 2-(arylselanyl)acetohydrazides 5a-e with good yields by accelerating the reduction of -Se-Se- bond, when compared to available methods. The synthesized molecules are structurally similar to the isoniazid (INH). Therefore, we perform in silico molecular docking studies, using the lactoperoxidase enzyme, in order to verify whether the INH Se derivatives could interact in a similar way to INH at the active site of the mammalian enzyme. The in silico results indicated a similar type of interaction of the arylselanyl hydrazide derivatives with that of INH. In view of the similar in silico interaction of the selenium derivatives of INH, the arylselanyl hydrazide derivatives reported here should be tested against Mycobacterium tuberculosis in vitro.

Despite being a preventable and curable disease, Tuberculosis (TB) is the world's top infectious killer. Development of new drugs is urgently needed. In this work, the synthesis and characterization of new silver(I) complexes, that include N'-[(E)-(pyridine-2-ylmethylene)pyrazine-2-carbohydrazide, HPCPH, as main ligand and substituted aryl-phosphines as auxiliary ligands, is reported. HPCPH was synthesized from pyrazinoic acid, the active metabolite of the first-line antimycobacterial drug pyrazinamide. Complexes [Ag(HPCPH)(PPh3)2]OTf (1), [Ag(HPCPH)((P(p-tolyl)3)2]OTf (2) and [Ag(HPCPH)(P(p-anisyl)3)2]OTf (3) were characterized in solid state and in solution by elemental analysis and FTIR and NMR spectroscopies (OTftriflate). Crystal structures of (1,2) were determined by XRD. The Ag atom is coordinated to azomethine and pyridine nitrogen atoms of HPCPH ligand and to the phosphorous atom of each aryl-phosphine co-ligand. Although HPCPH did not show activity, the Ag(I) compounds demonstrated activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB), H37Rv strain, and multi-drug resistant clinical isolates (MDR-TB). Globally, results showed that the compounds are not only effective against the sensitive strain, but are more potent against MDR-TB than antimycobacterial drugs used in therapy. The compounds showed low to moderate selectivity index values (SI) towards the bacteria, using MRC-5 cells (ATCC CCL-171) as mammalian cell model. Interaction with DNA was explored to get insight into the potential mechanism of action against the pathogen. No significant interaction was detected, allowing to discard this biomolecule as a potential molecular target. Compound 1 was identified as a hit compound (MIC90 2.23 µM; SI 4.4) to develop further chemical modifications in the search for new drugs.

Isoniazid is a first-line drug for the treatment of tuberculosis, a bacterial disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Its terminal amino group is highly reactive, leading to significant metabolic deactivation, drug interactions and hepatotoxicity. It is speculated that the activity of isoniazid derivatives is, in part, related to the cleavage of the protecting group. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the cleavage characteristics of previously developed isoniazid derivatives through kinetic studies by high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet-diode array detectio to establish a comparison between the rates of the process and the respective activities against M. tuberculosis. Chromatographic separations were performed on an XDB C18 column coupled to an XDB C18 precolumn. The mobile phase consisted of ultrapure water and acetonitrile in gradient mode. The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min, the injection volume was 20 µL, and the detection wavelengths were 230 nm (derivatives and isatins) and 270 nm (isoniazid). Incubation of derivatives was carried out for 5 days in 10 mmol/L phosphate buffer solution (pH 3.0, 7.4, 8.0) or in fetal bovine serum at 37 °C. The incubation reduced the concentration of the derivatives and led to the formation of isoniazid in a first-order kinetic reaction. Isoniazid formation was logarithmically correlated with the minimum inhibitory concentration of the derivatives. The results showed that higher cleavage rates are associated with greater activities against M. tuberculosis, providing important information for the development of future generations of isoniazid derivatives and for screening drug candidates for the treatment of tuberculosis.

The thin line between efficacy and toxicity has challenged cancer therapy. As copper is an essential micronutrient and is important to tumor biology, CuII complexes emerged as an alternative to chemotherapy; however, its biological properties need to be better understood. Thus, we report in vitro the antitumor effects of two CuII complexes named [Cu(4-fh)(phen)(ClO4)2] (complex 1) and [Cu(4-nh)(phen)(ClO4)2]·H2O (complex 2), in which 4-fh = 4-fluorophenoxyacetic acid hydrazide; 4-nh = 4-nitrobenzoic hydrazide and phen = 1,10-phenanthroline. Both complexes presented cytotoxic activity against tumor cells, but only complex 1 showed significant selectivity. Complex 1 also induced DNA-damage, led to G0/G1 arrest and triggered apoptosis, which was initiated by an autophagy dysfunction. The significant in vitro selectivity and the action mechanism of complex 1 are noteworthy and reveal this prodrug as promising for anticancer therapy.

The present work reports the synthesis and a structural study of two novel dithiocarbazate, the 4,6-diacetylresorcinol-S-benzyldithiocarbazate (H3L1) and the 4,6-diacetylresorcinol-bis(S-benzyldithiocarbazate) (H4L2), and their Ni(II) complexes, [Ni(HL1)(Py)] (1) and [Ni2(L2)(PPh3)2] (2). Single crystal X-ray analyzes reveal mono and binuclear complexes and the metal centers with distorted square planar geometry. The analyses of the Hirshfeld surface and fingerprints plots revealed intermolecular contacts attributed to the H···H and C···H/H···C bonds. The Density Functional Theory (DFT), with the B3LYP functional and 6-311-G(d,p)/LanL2DZ basis sets, was employed to optimize the geometries of synthesized compounds. From the resulting geometries, the highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital maps (HOMO-LUMO), orbital energy gap, electron localization function (ELF), electron density, natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis, and complexation of the ligands with Ni(II) were calculated supporting the experimental data. The ESI (+)-MS/MS data indicated the presence in solution of the characteristic fragmentation with the [H3L1]+ and [H4L2]+ molecular ions for the ligands. The pharmacological potential of the dithiocarbazate ligands and their Ni(II) complexes were evaluated in vitro against MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells. A remarkable cytotoxic activity was observed, more evident for free ligands than complexes at low concentrations; however, this latter showed a better dose-response pattern, being more attractive in terms of pharmacokinetics and therapeutic window.

Catalytic processes based on Fenton-like reactions on the degradation of organic pollutants have been improved by accelerating the redox cycling of metal ions. This work presents, at first, the results obtained for the heterogeneous degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) by copper ferrite (CuFe2O4) in presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and hydrazine (N2H4) as redox cycle accelerator. Atomic absorption spectroscopy showed small amounts of Cu2+ are leached from ferrite highlighting the influence of the homogeneous catalysis in the whole process. The data obtained for the homogeneous process using Cu2+ in solution containing both N2H4 and H2O2 indicated such system is highly efficient mineralizing 73% of RhB within only 10 min of reaction and having H2O and CO2 as major products. Using tert-butyl alcohol as radical scavenger, it was confirmed hydroxyl radical (HO•) is the active oxidant species regarding the RhB degradation. The homogeneous catalyst was applied to a real sample of textile effluent spiked with RhB and showed reasonable efficiency, although lower than that obtained for the standard solutions of RhB. This result was assigned to the interference of salts in the medium that react with HO• thus acting as radical scavenger.

The progress in aplastic anaemia (AA) management is one of success. Once an obscure entity resulting in death in most affected can now be successfully treated with either haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) or immunosuppressive therapy (IST). The mechanisms that underly the diminution of haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are now better elucidated, and include genetics and immunological alterations. Advances in supportive care with better antimicrobials, safer blood products and iron chelation have greatly impacted AA outcomes. Working somewhat 'mysteriously', anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) forms the base for both HSCT and IST protocols. Efforts to augment immunosuppression potency have not, unfortunately, led to better outcomes. Stimulating HSCs, an often-sought approach, has not been effective historically. The thrombopoietin receptor agonists (Tpo-RA) have been effective in stimulating early HSCs in AA despite the high endogenous Tpo levels. Dosing, timing and best combinations with Tpo-RAs are being defined to improve HSCs expansion in AA with minimal added toxicity. The more comprehensive access and advances in HSCT and IST protocols are likely to benefit AA patients worldwide. The focus of this review will be on the medical treatment advances in AA.

Twelve 7-chloroquinoline derivatives were designed and synthesized using the principle of molecular hybridization through the coupling of 2-[2-(7-chloroquinolin-4-ylthio)-4-methylthiazol-5-yl]acetic acid 1 with various benzoyl hydrazines 2a-l. The synthetic compounds were tested as antimalarials. Some of them showed an efficient in vitro activity as inhibitors of ß-hematin formation and an in vivo activity in a murine model, resulting in compounds 8 and 9 as the most active ones with IC50 values of 0.65 ± 0.09 and 0.64 ± 0.16 µM, respectively. The effects of the compounds on the cell viability, cell cycle, and apoptosis induction of A549 and MCF-7 cancer cell lines were also examined. Our data showed that compounds 6 and 12 were the most active agents, decreasing the cell viability of MCF-7 cells with IC50 values of 15.41 and 12.99 µM, respectively. None of the compounds analyzed significantly affected the viability of peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Also, significant induction of apoptosis was observed when both cancer cell lines were incubated with compounds 6 and 12. In MCF-7 cells, treatment with these compounds led to cell cycle arrest in the G0/G1 phase. The results obtained suggest that these structures may be useful in developing new therapies for malaria and cancer treatment.

INTRODUCTION: Cancer cachexia is a complex multifaceted syndrome involving functional impairment, changes in body composition, and nutritional disorders. The treatment of cancer cachexia can be based on these three domains of the syndrome. Phase II and III trials of anamorelin, a ghrelin mimetic agent, have been shown to increase body weight in patients with cancer cachexia, mainly by increasing muscle and fat mass. Anamorelin has been shown to improve anorexia scores. AREAS COVERED: This review aims to outline the effect of anamorelin on body composition and functional parameters as well as to discuss the clinical importance of these alterations in patients with cancer cachexia. EXPERT OPINION: To date, there is no treatment approved to enhance body composition and functional parameters in patients with cancer cachexia. Anamorelin, the most advanced therapy to treat cachexia, has not yielded convincing results in all aspects of the syndrome. In particular, no effect has been noted on physical function and long-term survival. Along with these essential improvements for future interventions with anamorelin, subsequent studies must address other etiologies of cancer, rather than non-small cell lung cancer, and add complementary therapies, such as exercise training and nutritional interventions, in an attempt to overcome cancer cachexia.

RESUMEN

This article deals with the synthesis of Schiff-based bis-azomethine-based ligands derived from pyridoxal and aliphatic dihydrazides and the synthesis of nickel(II) complexes C1-C4. The synthesized complexes had their structures elucidated by monocrystal X-ray diffraction and were characterized by vibrational and absorption spectroscopy. The synthesized ligands have characteristics that allow the formation of self-assembly processes, thus, the flexibility or rigidity of the coordination of organic molecules added to the orbitals of the NiII cation leads to the formation of helical complexes with double helix and a dinucler nickel(II) complex. Moreover, compounds was their interactions with CT-DNA and HSA absorption and emission analysis and molecular docking calculations.
