RESUMO

Multivariate statistics and GIS alone with geochemical modeling were applied to investigate the hydro-geochemical characteristics of groundwater and their spatial distribution in the deep aquifer system of Bagherpara Upazila, Bangladesh. This Upazila consists of an area of 308.3 km2 and local people mostly rely on groundwater to meet the drinking water requirements. Water samples from one hundred randomly selected deep tube wells (152-198 m) were collected and analyzed for 14 water quality parameters to characterize the hydro-geochemical properties. The groundwater shows slight alkaline in nature throughout the study area. Most of the water samples were turbid and 68% of them failed to meet the drinking water quality standard prescribed by the World Health Organization (WHO). TDS concentration ranges between 280 mg/L and 1040 mg/L, with a mean value of 446.20 (±122.19) mg/L. The general order of cation and anion along the study area were Ca2+>Mg2+>Na+>K+ and HCO3 ->Cl->PO4 3->SO4 2->NO3 - respectively. Carbonate weathering is the dominant process for releasing ions in groundwater. Besides, the ion exchange process is active in the study area, which leads to the reduction of Na+ ions. Gibb's plot suggests a rock dominance inheritance controls the dissolution and precipitation of minerals along with the ion-exchange process, and ultimately dictates the groundwater chemistry. Besides, the Piper diagram showed that Ca2+-Mg2+-SO4 2- is the dominant water type in 65% of the samples followed by Ca2+-Mg2+-HCO3 - water type (35%). The abundance of Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions and the alkaline nature of groundwater indicate mixed geochemical facies and reverse exchange reactions. The principal component analysis (PCA) reveals that weathering and leaching of host rocks was the main natural source, while municipal solid waste dumping, sewage discharge, and fertilizer application could be other anthropogenic factors that affect the groundwater geochemistry. In fine, the chemical characteristics of groundwater were acquired through rock dissolution, percolation, and reverse exchange process.

RESUMO

In this work, we demonstrated Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS) as a saturable absorber (SA) to produce mode-locking operation in different length of Erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL). The PEDOT: PSS was embedded into polyvinyl alcohol to form a thin film that acts as an absorber into the laser setup. The three different mode-locked EDFL were successfully demonstrated with different cavity length and output coupler ratio. The pulse repetition rate/width of 3.417 MHz/710 fs, 4.831 MHz/510 fs, and 6.049 MHz/460 fs were obtained by utilizing optical coupler/ cavity length of 20:80/60.7 m, 10:90/42.7 m, and 5:95/33.7 m, respectively. All experiments generated a stable and mode-locked operation at a central wavelength of 1570.76 nm, 1570.3 nm, and 1569.95 nm with 3 dB bandwidth of 4.8 nm, 5.6 nm, and 6.5 nm, respectively. The long-time stability of the ultrafast fiber lasers was investigated for each setup via 120 min. The proposed PEDOT: PSS has proven as a promising material to induce mode-locking operation in different fiber laser setup.

RESUMO

Background: Aesthetic correction involves a holistic approach which considers the oral cavity as a whole by the norms of the treatment. Aesthetics enhance the facial profile and also the smile line of the patient which improves the quality of life of a patient enabling them to a better socioeconomic status. Smile correction of a patient paves the path for a systematic approach to the treatment and also imparts an improved level of confidence which leads to new opportunities both in the personal and professional field. AeEsthetic correction provides challenging aspects concerning patient satisfaction and functional demands. This is the most affordable treatment for patients' who are not financially sound in developing countries like India. The other treatment modalities such as Veneers or All-ceramic crowns are aesthetically pleasing but are quite expensive for people in the lower income strata. Due to this, direct composite treatment is very economical and it also improves the patient's overall confidence and it helps them to socialise well and carry out their daily routine activities without any hindrance and difficulty. Case Report: This case report deals with the esthetic correction of midline diastema and spacing in the maxillary and mandibular anterior region. Conclusion: Aesthetic correction involves meticulous treatment planning to revive the essence of lost beauty as well as improve the functional aspect for the patient. Conclusion: Aesthetic correction involves meticulous treatment planning to revive the essence of lost beauty as well as improve the functional aspect for the patient.

RESUMO

We demonstrate deployment of the nonlinear saturable absorption property of the organic material poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS) for pulse generation in the near-infrared region. The saturable absorber (SA) film was made using a straightforward process of depositing a layer of the PEDOT: PSS material onto a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) film. The prepared SA was inserted into an erbium-doped fiber laser cavity as a Q-switcher to produce laser pulses with a maximum pulse rate of 92.75 kHz, minimum pulse duration of 912 ns, and highest pulse energy of 222.83 nJ. Results showed that PEDOT: PSS/PVA SA could become a promising SA for various laser applications. To our knowledge, this is the first time that PEDOT: PSS/PVA has been utilized as a SA to produce a stable Q-switched laser in 1.55 µm.

RESUMO

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) are used as a valuable adjunct in the treatment of maxillofacial rehabilitation. PRP used along with growth hormone helps in bone healing and tissue regeneration in the areas affected by bone and soft tissue-related defects. It aids not only in faster and better healing of the surgically debrided area but also in regeneration of the bone at a faster rate. This review comprises the applications of PRP and PRF and their uses in various procedures.
