RESUMO

Tetraspanins are a class of cell surface glycoproteins that are expressed very broadly, which can form a complex tetraspanins net by combining with many kinds of cell surface molecules such as integrins, signal proteins, growth factors and so on.In recent years, more and more studies suggest that tetraspanins are closely related to the invasion and metastasis of malignancies and show a certain clinical value, which can be used as new diagnosis and prognosis indicators of malignancy.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To determine the expression patterns of phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase (PHGDH) and serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag) in cervical cancer andtheir clinical significance and to explore their relationship with clinicopathological parameters. METHODS: The expression of PHGDH was detected in 75 cervical cancer tissues and 21 normal cervical epithelium by immunohistochemistry. The SCC-Ag level was tested in 64 serum samples of the 75 squamous cervical cancer cases by immunoradiometric assay. The correlation of PHGDH and SCC-Ag with clinicopathological parameters was analyzed. RESULTS: Phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase was more moderate/strong expressed in cervical cancer than in normal cervical epithelium (72% vs 28.6%, respectively; P < 0.05); furthermore, PHGDH and serum SCC-Ag expression in squamous cervical cancer were positively correlated (r = 0.310, P < 0.05). Phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase and serum SCC-Ag were both associated with International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics stage and tumor size (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The overexpression of PHGDH is found in cervical cancer, in particular, in bigger tumors and with advanced stages; and its expression is positively correlated with serum SCC-Ag level and implies that PHGDH may useful for prognosis, prediction, and treatment of cervical cancer.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo observe the efficacy of L-carnitine in prevention and treatment of toxicity of LFP chemotherapy with gastrointestinal cancer. Methods60 cases of gastrointestinal cancer were divided into 2 groups according to the admission date. The treatment groups received LFP chemotherapy and L-carnitine, while the control group received LFP chemotherapy alone. Both groups received 3 cycles chemotherapy. The gastrointestinal toxicity, neurotoxicity, hematologic toxicity and physical state were compared.ResultsThere were 12 cases of peripheral neurotoxicity in treatment group, the incidence rate was 40.0 %;but in control group there were 21 patients, and the incidence rate was 70.0 %. There was a significant difference between the two groups(x2=5.4545,P =0.0195). Anemia in the treatment group was 56.7 % (17/30); in the control group the rate was 86.7 % (26/30).There was a significant difference between the two groups (x2 =6.698,P =0.0351).After chemotherapy,in the treatment group, there were 4 cases with increasing Karnofsky score ≥ 10,19 patients whose Karnofsky score did not change, and 7 cases with reduced Karnofsky score ≥ 10; in the control group, there was 1 case with increasing Karnofsky score ≥ 10,13 cases with Karnofsky score no changing, and 16 cases with reduced Karnofsky score ≥ 10.The changes in physical state of two groups had a significant difference(x2 =5.711,P =0.0169).The gastrointestinal toxicity, thrombocytopenia, and neutropenia of two groups had no significant difference.ConclusionL-carnitine can reduce peripheral neurotoxicity and hematologic toxicity, improve the patient's physical state in patients received LFP chemotherapy.

RESUMO

Objective To evaluate the relationship between long-term survival rate and protection to marrow and lymphoid tissues in the pelvis with hypoxia radiotherapy for uterine cervical carcinoma. Methods 113 patients, confirmed as having carcinoma of uterine cervix by pathology, were randomly divided by the envelope method into two groups: hypoxia radiotherapy group(HRG,57 patients) and conventional radiotherapy group (CRG,56 patients). HRG was given by sustained inhaling hypoxia gas (oxygen physical volume=0.105) for two minutes before the start of radiotherapy till the end of radiotherapy of each field and then repeated for the other field in the same way. The duration of irradiation to each field was less than five minutes. CRG was given with conventional radiotherapy. The irradiation dose in the midpelvical plane was 20-50Gy depending on the different stages of cervical carcinomatous lesion. The dose of four-divided-field in the parametria was 15-34Gy.The dose at point A of intracavitary therapy was 15-35Gy. Results The decreased value of peripheral blood white cells after treatment was (1.36?1.27)?109/L in HRG and (2.97?1.19)?109/L in CRG(P
