RESUMO

We studied the effect of GlcNAc-, Man-, and Gal-specific lectins isolated from cell cytosol, nuclear membrane, and nuclear matrix of calf brain cortex, lyophilized, and stored for 5 years on proliferation activity of human peripheral blood lymphocytes and on hemagglutination activity of trypsinized rabbit erythrocytes. Human peripheral blood lymphocytes treated lyophilized lectins demonstrated lower proliferation activity than lymphocytes treated with concanavalin A (positive control), but higher than control lymphocytes (incubated with saline). Lectins produced no effect on hemagglutination activity.

RESUMO

Lectins have been detected in the nuclear matrix of nerve tissue cells, and an extraction procedure for the protein fraction with lectin activity has been developed. The lectins are characterized by hemagglutinating activity that is inhibited by D-GlcNAc, D-Gal, Lac, and D-Glc. The existence of lectins with similar molecular masses (from 7 to 20 kD) in the nuclear matrix of calf and rat brain has been shown.

RESUMO

The influence of some neuropharmacological drugs was studied as applied to RNA synthesis and animal behaviour. The phosphodiesterase, adenyl cyclase and monoaminoxidase activities in glial cells were investigated as well. The glial cells are stated to possess a high activity of phosphodiesterase, adenyl cyclase and monoaminoxidase A. Neuropharmacological drugs, reserpine and transamine produce a different influence of RNA synthesis in vivo, but have no effect in vitro. Transamine and reserpine accelerate the formation of conditioned defensive reflex but they strongly inhibited the reproduction of this reflex.
