RESUMO

Skin bag Tulum cheeses traditionally produced in the Central Taurus region of Turkey were studied to identify peptide profiles by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry over 180 d of ripening. After mass spectrometry analysis, 203 peptides were identified: 59 from αS1-casein (CN), 11 from αS2-CN, 129 from ß-CN, and 4 from κ-CN. Numbers of αS1- and ß-CN-derived peptides increased with increasing number of ripening days due to the dependence of newly formed peptides on proteolysis. However, similar increases were not observed for αS2- and κ-CN-derived peptides. Most identified peptides consisted of ß-CN-derived peptides, followed by αS1-, αS2-, and κ-CN-derived peptides. Among these, bioactive peptides were found, including antihypertensive, antibacterial, antioxidant, dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitory, metal chelating, skin regenerating, glucagon-like peptide-1 secretion enhancing, opioid, cathepsin B inhibitory, prolyl endopeptidase inhibitory, immunomodulatory, brain function improving, antiamnesic, antihypercholesterolemic, anti-inflammatory, and anticarcinogenic peptides.

RESUMO

Adult Wilms tumour, unlike that seen in childhood, is a rare disease. We are reporting two cases of which one is alive with no evidence of disease at the 52nd month of follow-up and the other had no evidence of disease at the 10th month after which she was lost to follow-up. The literature has been reviewed and the prognosis and treatment alternatives have been surveyed.

RESUMO

The aim of the present study is to describe the changes in the Holdaway angle during and after treatment with a fixed appliance and to search for any possible differences between non-extraction treatment and extraction treatment. Thirty-five randomly selected Angle Class II. Division I cases with complete records before treatment, at the end of treatment, and at time at least one year out of retention, were collected. The sample was divided into two groups, one consisting of nineteen non-extraction cases and the other group of sixteen extraction cases. All cephalometric radiographs were traced on to acetate film and a computer program developed for cephalometric analysis according to the Bergen Technique was used to evaluate the radiographs. A computer program was used for the statistical evaluation of the data. In conclusion it can be said that no significant differences with regard to the Holdaway angle were found between fixed appliance therapy with or without extraction. A significant influence on the Holdaway angle itemed from the sagittal base relation (ANB) and chin prominence. It seems reasonable to assume that only orthopaedic appliances that influence sagittal base relationship, and especially the lower jaw, can have a profound influence on Holdaway angle.

RESUMO

The aim of this study was to test under thermo stress the effect of various adhesives on the bonding strength of brackets with a new retention mechanism in comparison to brackets with a conventional retentive basis. In the test 17 different adhesives and metal brackets with two different retention mechanisms were used. One group of metal brackets was coated by means of the Kulzer silane coating procedure and the other had a mesh basis. The latter served as the control group. Both were held in place by adhesives and their bonding strength tested. The following conclusions were drawn: 1. Both of the bracket types demonstrated the highest bonding strength with the mixed composites (paste/paste). 2. The silane coated bracket bases demonstrated altogether higher bonding strength than the mesh brackets, but the difference with the light-cured and the epoxy-adhesives was only statistically significant.

RESUMO

This study was undertaken to test the theory that different kind of metal alloys can influence the bond strength of the silane treated bracket bases. Seven different types of brackets, each with different metal properties, were tested. 20 brackets of each type were used, half of them were silanated with a special Silicoater treatment. The following conclusions can be made: 1. The silane coated plain bracket demonstrated a higher bond strength than all the tested untreated brackets; 2. the brackets of the company Dentaurum demonstrated a statistically significant higher bond strength than the brackets of all the other companies.

RESUMO

This study was undertaken to show that a silane treated bracket base can provide a better bonding to the enamel than conventional bonding bases commercially available. Five different types of metal brackets, each with different retentive properties, were tested. 20 brackets of each type were used, half of them silanated with a special silicoater treatment. The brackets were bonded to the surface of the teeth with Concise Enamel Bond and were then tested to failure in an Instron testing machine after 28 days. The following conclusions can be drawn from the study: 1. Silane-coated bracket bases demonstrated a higher bonding strength than the conventional bases, 2. silane treatment of plain bases is an effective method for the bonding of brackets to teeth, similiar to non-silane-boated brackets with additional mechanical retentive devices.
