RESUMO

Ficoll PM70 is an important branched polysaccharide polymer with a variety of applications in biology and biophysics. The accepted picture for the aqueous solutions of this polymer is that of a polydisperse nearly spherical suspension with a molecular weight of 70.0 kDa and a hydrodynamic radius α=(4.70±0.04) nm. This was confirmed by dynamic and static light scattering on a wide range of concentrations and at three different temperatures. Further, dynamic light scattering experiments indicated the coexistence of two closely-spaced diffusive modes in solution by analyzing the spectra with double exponential fits. The impact of these, concentration dependent, diffusive modes in Ficoll PM70 solutions is discussed in the context of multicomponent molecular crowding studies.

RESUMO

AIM: To evaluate the energy informational effects of various treatments in patients with bronchial asthma (BA). MATERIAL AND METHODS: Changes in bioenergograms were analyzed in 139 patients after therapeutical exposures: intravenous prednizolone and dexamethasone, inhaled seretide, fluthicasone propionate, beclomethasone, phenoterol, salmeterol, and salbutamol, the latter drug as tablets, as well as a course treatment with acupuncture. The energy informational effects of pumpan and nitrosorbide were studied in 22 patients with BA concurrent with cor pulmonale and coronary heart disease (CHD). RESULTS: A significant difference was found in the parameters of a bioenergogram depending on the routes of administrations of the drugs and their dosage forms. The greatest and positive changes in the area of the bioenergogram were recorded when using salmeterol and salbutamol, particularly in the nebulization of their solutions, and acupuncture. The intravenous infusion of glucocorticosteroids frequently produced inhibitory effects. In patients with BA concurrent with cor pulmonale and CHD, the positive energy informational effect of pumpan, that differed from that of nitrosorbide, occurred with better ventricular repolarization and alleviated signs of right cardiac overload on ECG. CONCLUSION: The bioenergogram is highly sensitive to changes in the status of patients and it may be used to choose drugs and their combinations, combined drug therapy, and acupuncture on an individual basis. Pumpan is recommended for the treatment of patients with BA concurrent with cor pulmonale.

RESUMO

Treatment effects reached in 94 patients with bronchial asthma demonstrate that neurogenic, humoral and bioenergetic responses to acupuncture proceed according to adaptation laws and result in reduction of bronchial hyperreactivity. Eosinophilic inflammation in the bronchi diminishes acupuncture efficacy.

RESUMO

The development of nonspecific bronchial hypersensitivity and hyperreactivity in bronchial asthma and effectiveness of its correction with acupuncture were investigated in 152 patients with asthma and preasthma. 94 of them were subjected to acupuncture. The authors employed a complex of diagnostic methods with determination of 241 parameters processed later with the use of systemic modelling. Bronchial hypersensitivity as indicated by the response to acetylcholine was related to impaired coordination of bronchomotor tone regulating systems: parasympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system, eosinophilic and monocytic bronchial inflammation, glucocorticoid homeostatic alterations. The corrective role of acupuncture consists in reduction of nonspecific bronchial hyperreactivity, normalization of blood acetylcholine, resensitization of cell beta-adrenergic receptors, elevation of mean concentrations of 11-OCS and T-lymphocytes.

RESUMO

Erythron membrane impairment was investigated using membrane -active drugs (obsidan, delagil, morphium, ethanol) to specify indications to acupuncture in bronchial asthma (BA). The patients were studied during the treatment and followed up for a year. It was found that both immediate and long-term results of acupuncture were related to patterns of the membrane impairment. BA patients with a sharp, greater than 1.5 fold diminution of microcyte count upon delagil test should be assigned to repeated courses of acupuncture during a year. To monitor the treatment effect, it is recommended to define osmotic resistance of the red blood cells in obsidan test in addition to clinicofunctional indices.

RESUMO

The authors review potential approaches to the upgrading of the diagnosis at the out- and inpatient stages of the rendering medical assistance to patients suffering from bronchial asthma (BA). Show the necessity of the counselling specialized aid, additional studies of the signs of atopy, wise combination of non- and medicamentous treatment methods to enhance the efficacy of the treatment of BA patients. Provide evidence for the advisability of solving the organizational problems concerned with a closer interaction of the polyclinic and hospital with the leading medical institutions on the problem "Pathology of the Respiratory Organs".

RESUMO

The levels of Na-K-ATPase were measured in a microsome fraction of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma cells immediately, 10 and 30 min after exposure to microwave (series 1), 7 Gy of gamma-radiation (series 2) and different sequences of complex application of the agents (UHF + gamma-radiation) (series 3), (gamma-radiation + microwave) (series 4). Immediately after exposure, enzyme activity showed a significant decrease in series 1 and 4 (ser. 1-64 and ser. 4-58% as compared with control, alpha less than 0.05). A similar tendency was observed in series 2 and 3 (ser. 2-76 and ser. 3-84% as compared with control, alpha less than 0.05). With further exposure, it remained practically unchanged in ser. 1 and 4; in ser. 2 and 3 it continued to decrease within 10 min (ser. 2-42 and ser. 3-61% as compared with control, alpha less than 0.05); then it increased somewhat (ser. 2-49 and ser. 3-69%, alpha less than 0.05). The most pronounced inactivation was observed after exposure to gamma rays. Application of the latter in conjunction with microwave-field heating was followed by a protective effect.

RESUMO

HeLa cells in the logarithmic phase of growth were heated up to 42-43 degrees C in the SHF field for 10 min. Then, after 30, 60 and 120 min pH of lysosomes was determined by neutral red. In 30 min, pH of lysosomes of heated cells decreased down to 5.51 +/- 0.1 against 5.87 +/- 0.07 in intact cells; in 120 min it reached the initial level.
