RESUMO

In recent years, there has been a growing emphasis on the exploration of sustainable and eco-friendly materials well-suited for advanced applications in the realms of thermoelectrics and optoelectronics. Lead-free halide double perovskites have emerged as a compelling class of materials in this context. Nevertheless, despite their potential utility, thorough investigations into their thermal transport characteristics remain limited. In this systematic investigation, we employ density functional theory (DFT) and post-DFT techniques to elucidate the essential stability parameters, transport properties, and carrier-lattice interactions of the metal halide-based Cs2MGaBr6 (X = Li, Ga) double perovskites. Our assessment of structural stability involves a meticulous description of stability index parameters and the optimization of pristine structures using the GGA-PBE potential. Additionally, we calibrate the electronic structure while taking spin-orbit coupling (SOC) effects into consideration by using a combination of GGA and GGA + mBJ potentials. Our findings reveal that the TB-mBJ derived band gaps of 1.82 eV and 1.78 eV for Cs2LiGaBr6 and Cs2NaGaBr6 reside within the visible spectrum, prompting further investigation into their thermal transport characteristics. Moreover, we analyze the phonon characteristics and vibrational modes, extending our investigation to examine the electron-phonon coupling strength. The scrutiny of the Fröhlich coupling constant and the Feynman polaron radius unveils a stronger electron-phonon coupling strength. In the domain of thermoelectrics, the significant figure of merit (zT) values of 1.08 and 1.04 for Cs2LiGaBr6 and Cs2NaGaBr6, respectively, emphasize the considerable potential of these materials for deployment in renewable energy applications. Furthermore, our computational investigation into optical properties, including the dielectric constant, optical absorption, and refractive index, demonstrates optimal performance within the visible spectrum. Specifically, elevated absorption coefficient values of 30 × 10 4 cm - 1 for Cs2LiGaBr6 and 40 × 10 4 cm - 1 for Cs2NaGaBr6 are noted across visible and infrared spectra, highlighting their promising potential in optoelectronic and solar cell technologies.

RESUMO

In this work, we compared the gas sensing behaviors of pristine and decorated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and examined the response behavior of bare and adorned MWCNTs in gas sensing. According to the data, the decorated response was 144%, which is higher than the bare CNT response of 117% in terms of the sensing response. The RF-sputtering method is used to decorate the carbon nanotubes by pure Indium (In) metal nanoparticles. Every measurement was performed in a temperature-controlled environment. Tests of the entire procedure were conducted at a 10 ppm concentration of ammonia gas. We have observed the quick reaction time (1-10 s) in pristine and (1-7 s) in decorated MWCNTs. The response was obtained 117% for the pristine and 144, 115, and 73% for the second (3 min decoration), third (6 min decoration), and fourth (9 min decoration) MWCNTs, respectively. The as-prepared pristine samples and all the decorated sensors had sensitivity values of 0.45, 0.50, 0.51, and 0.57 for time intervals of 0, 3, 6, and 9 min, respectively. It amounted to 45% for the pure and 50, 51, and 57% for the remaining as-prepared decorated sensors, respectively. Based on the measured sensor response graph, a recovery of between 80 and 85% was achieved. For a period of 10 days at a constant concentration, the stability was also assessed and we have analyzed the structural, electrical, and elemental composition of the prepared CNTs by FESEM, EDX, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, and XRD.

RESUMO

New polymer blend composite electrolytes (PBCEs) were prepared by the solution casting technique using poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-polyethylene glycol (PEG), sodium nitrate (NaNO3) as a doping salt and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as fillers. The X-ray diffraction pattern confirms the structural properties of the polymer blend composite films. FTIR investigations were carried out to understand the chemical properties and their band assignments. The ionic conductivity of the 10 wt % MWCNTs incorporated PVA-PEG polymer blend was measured as 4.32 × 10-6 S cm-1 at 20 °C and increased to 2.253 × 10-4 S/cm at 100 °C. The dependence of its conductivity on temperature suggests Arrhenius behavior. The equivalent circuit models that represent the R s(Q1(R1(Q2(R2(CR3))))) were used to interpret EIS data. The dielectric behavior of the samples was investigated by utilizing their AC conductance spectra, dielectric permittivity, dielectric constant (εi and εr), electric modulus (Mi and Mr), and loss tangent tan δ. The dielectric permittivity of the samples increases due to electrode polarization effects in low frequency region. The loss tangent's maxima shift with increasing temperature; hence, the peak height rises in the high frequency region. MWCNTs-based polymer blend composite electrolytes show an enhanced electrochemical stability window (4.0 V), better transference number (0.968), and improved ionic conductivity for use in energy storage device applications.

RESUMO

The incorporation of reduced Graphene oxides (rGO) as a nanofiller in the blend polymer nanocomposite (BPNC) based on Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-Polyvinylalcohol (PVA) and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) are presented. The blend polymer electrolytes films are prepared by the standard solution cast technique, and it is characterized to investigate the structural, morphological, thermal, optical and electrochemical property. The X-ray diffraction confirms the formation of polymer nanocomposite and is agreed with FESEM analysis. The FTIR confirms the presence of various interactions between the polymer, salt and rGO, and indicates the composite formation. The DSC examines the thermal property of the blend polymer nanocomposite electrolytes system. The bandgap energy has been obtained from the UV-spectroscopy and examines the direct and indirect gap, both offer the decreases bandgap with the addition of a higher concentration of rGO as nanofillers. The highest value of ionic conductivity of the film is obtained ~1.39×10-6 S cm-1 at 15 wt.% of rGO content in polymer blend nanocomposite (BPNC) films. For these BPNC films, the electrochemical stability window (ESW) is ~4.0 V at 25 wt.% of rGO content and ionic transport number (tion) is ~0.98, for 10 wt.% of rGO content at the room temperature. These highly stable blend polymer nanocomposite electrolyte films offer the excellent properties for utilized as a separator for solid-state devices e.g., battery, supercapacitors, electrochromic display devices and other electrochemical energy storage/ conversion devices respectively.

RESUMO

The Deep Neural Networks have gained prominence in the biomedical domain, becoming the most commonly used networks after machine learning technology. Mammograms can be used to detect breast cancers with high precision with the help of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) which is deep learning technology. An exhaustive labeled data is required to train the CNN from scratch. This can be overcome by deploying Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) which comparatively needs lesser training data during a mammogram screening. In the proposed study, the application of GANs in estimating breast density, high-resolution mammogram synthesis for clustered microcalcification analysis, effective segmentation of breast tumor, analysis of the shape of breast tumor, extraction of features and augmentation of the image during mammogram classification have been extensively reviewed.

RESUMO

In the present report, the properties of the field emission devices of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were remarkably improved by decorating their surface with magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgO NPs). The MgO NPs were attached effectively on the surface of CNTs via thermal evaporation. The Raman spectra confirm the graphitic order of as-grown pristine CNTs with RBM (radial breathing mode), D band and G band peaks at the 282 cm-1, 1347 cm-1 and 1594 cm-1 respectively. The peak at 471 cm-1 indicates successful attachment of MgO NPs to the CNTs. The enhanced field emission properties of CNTs were mainly attributed to the MgO NPs which increased the field enhancement factor and the density of emission sites. The decreased work function and increased field enhancement factor were responsible for the improved FE properties of the CNTs. Our results indicate that the MgO decorated CNTs can be used as an effective field emitter for various electron emission devices. The turn-on field decrease from 1.6 V/µm to 1.3 V/µm and the maximum current density increases from 1.581 to 3.678 mA/cm2 after the decoration of CNTs with MgO NPs. The value of field enhancement factor (ß) also increases from 2.814×10³ to 9.823×10³.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Theileria equi is a tick borne protozoan parasite which causes piroplasmosis among equines worldwide. The present study was aimed to determine seroprevalence of T. equi in donkeys, horses, and mules from two equine populated districts (Peshawar and Charsadda) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Pakistan. METHODS: A total of 393 equine (195 horses, 194 donkeys and 4 mules) serum samples were collected from five and four randomly selected localities in Charsadda (n = 193) and Peshawar (n = 200), respectively. The presence of antibodies to T. equi was determined using a commercially available competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS: An overall seroprevalence of 38.2% (n=150) was observed among all the tested animals suggesting a higher seropositivity among equids belonging to Charsada (50.3%) as compared to Peshawar (27.5%). Binary logistic regression analysis revealed that being a donkey (OR 2.94), having tick infestation (OR 4.32), history of voiding red (i.e., blood containing) urine (OR 3.97) and anemia (OR 2.1) were the factors significantly associated with the seroprevalence of T. equi. For animals with higher anti-T. equi antibody titers, a strong association of seroprevalence for T. equi was recorded with species, age, sex, tick infestation, anemia and history of hematuria. CONCLUSION: The present study indicates a high level of exposure of working equids to T. equi in KPK region, Pakistan. Future studies should focus on tick vector identification and other factors responsible for spread of the disease.

RESUMO

A simple and rapid chromatographic method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of five phenolic acids including Gallic acid, Chloroganic acid, Syringic acid, Benzoic acid and Vanillic acid by HPLC with UV-VIS detector. These Phenolic acids were separated by analytical column Intersil ODS-3 C18, a gradient elution system of ACN and acidified water solution with 1ml/min flow rate and quantified in a total run of 30 minutes at 210nm wavelength. In the quantitative analysis of these compounds showed good regression (0.995-0.999). The limit of detection [LOD] and limit of quantification [LOQ] of these compounds were in the range of 0.15-0.46 and 0.42-2.47 ßg/mL. The average recoveries were between 95.8-103.1% and their RSD values were less than 3.34%. By the proposed method Gallic acid, Chloroganic acid and Syringic acid were found and quantified in Methanolic, Ethanolic and Acetonic extract of Ocimum sanctum Linn. leaves. While the two other phenolic acids benzoic acid and vanillic acid was not found in the extracts of Ocimum sanctum Linn. leaves.

RESUMO

Vertically aligned carbon nanotubes are synthesized by Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition (LPCVD) on Si substrate coated with Fe as a catalyst at a pressure of 20 Torr and at a growth temperature of 600 degrees C. The catalyst film is prepared by electro-chemical method which is very unique and a low cost method. Three precursor gases Acetylene (C2H2), Ammonia (NH3) and Hydrogen (H2) at the flow rate of 20 sccm, 100 sccm and 100 sccm respectively are allowed to flow through the Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition reactor for 10 minutes. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) images show that synthesized CNTs are vertically aligned and uniformly distributed with a high density. Raman analysis shows G-band at 1574 cm(-1) and D-band at 1370 cm(-1). The G-band is higher than D-band, which indicates that CNTs are highly graphitized. The field emission measurement reveals good field emission properties of as-grown vertically aligned carbon nanotubes with turn-on field of 1.91 V/microm at the current density 10 mA/cm2. The field enhancement factor is calculated to be 7.82 x 10(3) for as-grown carbon nanotubes.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Increased left ventricular mass (LVM) has been correlated with adverse cardiac events, such as sudden cardiac death. However, LVM quantitation with widely utilized gated SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) software, has little validation and clinical application. Thus, we compared LVM from two commonly employed gated SPECT packages [4D-MSPECT (4DM) and Quantitative Perfusion SPECT (QPS)] with the 3-dimensional reference standard, CT angiography (CTA). METHODS: Comparisons were made in 56 patients (mean age 61.4 +/- 14.6; 32% female) referred for dual-isotope or low-dose/high-dose Tc-99m-tetrofosmin rest/stress MPI and cardiac CTA (mean 1.5 +/-4.5 months apart). LVM measurement was performed for both CTA and MPI by two independent observers blinded to clinical information. RESULTS: Correlation with CTA was best for post-stress MPI than at rest; thus, post-stress values are reported. Values obtained with each of the techniques were very highly reproducible (interobserver correlation r = 0.99 for each technique). The mean LVM values were 142 g by CTA, 145 g by 4DM, and 135 g by QPS (P = NS for CTA vs SPECT, but P < .001 for 4DM vs QPS). There was moderately good correlation between CTA and SPECT LVM data (r = 0.74 and 0.72 for 4DM and QPS, respectively; both P < .001). However, on Bland-Altman analysis there was significant overestimation of lower values and underestimation of higher CT LVM values by both QPS and 4DM (both r = 0.68 and 0.69, P < .001). The limits of agreement relative to CT LVM were wide (-52.1 g to 64.1 g for QPS; and -60.0 g to 53.5 g for 4DM). CONCLUSIONS: SPECT and CTA give reproducible measures of LVM. Using CTA as the reference standard, the mean SPECT LVM values are similar, but lower values are overestimated and higher values are underestimated. Thus, the SPECT values are not substitutable for CTA without mathematical correction.
