RESUMO

Despite many programs for educating social skills to adolescents with autism, insufficient attention has been paid to examine the optimal conditions and strategies that are important for improvement and generalization of the learned skills. So after reviewing and searching for three PubMed, Scopus, and ProQuest databases, 20 studies were finally analyzed and shared conditions were extracted. The results showed that the most important condition is parental involvement. The rehearsal and practice of social skills, attention to developmental trajectories, strengths and weaknesses of the individual and use of quantitative and qualitative tools are the other circumstances. In conclusion, taking into account these conditions for improvement, generalization and durability of the skills can be helpful.

RESUMO

Research has shown improved reading following visual magnocellular training in individuals with dyslexia. Many studies have demonstrated how the magnocellular pathway controls visual spatial attention. Therefore, we have investigated the relationship between magnocellular pathway and visual spatial attention deficits in dyslexia in order to better understand how magnocellular-based interventions may help children to learn to read. Magnocellular function, visual spatial attention, and reading abilities of thirty elementary school students with dyslexia, aged between 8 and 10, were measured. The experimental group received magnocellular-based visual motion training for 12 sessions, while the control group received neutral sessions. All tests were repeated at the end of the training and after 1 month. The magnocellular functioning, visual spatial attention, and reading abilities of the experimental group improved significantly compared to the controls. Additionally, improvement in reaction time of invalid conditions predicted improvements in saccadic eye movements. We conclude that visual magnocellular training improved saccadic eye movement control, visual spatial orientation, and reading ability.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Risk perception is an effective factor in the determining of the incidence of unsafe behaviors and the occurrence of occupational accidents in the workplace. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between risk perception and occupational accidents among foundry workers in Tehran, Iran. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, all male workers in a foundry unit were initially selected (n = 245). After applying the study criteria and dismissing incomplete returned questionnaires, only 109 workers were included in the study. The General Health Questionnaire and the Flynn et al. Risk Perception Questionnaire were used to assess the mental health and risk perception of workers, respectively. Data regarding the occupational accidents of workers were also extracted from the accidents' records of the foundry. Workers with a record of occupational accidents during 2013-2016 were compared with workers without an occupational accident record. RESULTS: Findings showed that a one-unit increase in the risk perception score resulted into an increase of approximately 33% in the odds of the occurrence of occupational accidents, but this rate was not significant (p = 0.695). In addition, the study found no significant relation between the risk perception score and the frequency of occupational accidents (Spearman's r = 0.003, p = 0.977). CONCLUSION: There is no statistically significant relationship between risk perception and occupational accidents among foundry workers in Tehran, Iran.

RESUMO

This study investigated the antioxidant activity and phenolic composition of seed extracts from three grape cultivars grown in Iran. Folin Ciocalteu method was used for the determination of the total phenolic contents and GC-MS was used for the analysis of phenolic compositions. 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method was used to evaluate the antioxidant activity. The highest and the lowest total phenolic contents of seed extract were found in the black and green grape, respectively. The content of individual phenols such as Frulic acid, Gentistic acid, Syringic acid, (+) Catechin, Chlorogenic acid and (-)- Epicatchin gallate was cultivars dependent. The antioxidant activity of the seed extracts ranged from 34.03% (Green) to 53.63% (Black). Generally, the Black grape seed extract with the total phenolic content (3 ± 0.01 mg tannic acid/g DM), DPPH (53.63 ± 0.34%), IC50 and AEAC (7.41 and 16.92 mg/mL) showed the highest level of total antioxidant capacity.

RESUMO

Refrigerated storage is the simplest method of preserving for short time handling and storage of fish. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of refrigerated storage on the microstructure, physicochemical (proximate composition, pH, TVB-N, LHC), microbial (total mesophilic count, TMC and total psychrotrophic count, TPC) and sensory changes of grouper (Epinephelus coioides) fillets during a 14-day period at +4 °C. The estimated TVB-N value was significantly different in all days of storage. TPC value reached to a limiting level for human consumption (10(7) micro-organism/g) after the 10th day of storage while TMC remained under the limited acceptability until 14 days. Cellular tissue damage was observed after 7 days of storage. The shelf life of grouper was approximately ~8-9 days according to the results of sensory, chemical and microbial analysis.
