RESUMO

Objectives: Dihydroartemisinin (DHA), an artemisinin derivative extracted from the traditional Chinese medicinal herb Artemisia annua, has the potential to suppress head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) progression. However, the mechanisms underlying these effects remain unclear. Therefore, we aimed to examine the mechanisms underlying the effects of DHA on tumor invasion and migration. Methods: Human HNSCC cell lines CAL-27 and FaDu were exposed to varying DHA concentrations (0, 5, 20, and 80 µM) for 24 h. Cell proliferation, invasion, and migration were assessed using CCK8, transwell, and wound-healing assays, respectively. Quantitative real-time PCR, western blotting, and immunofluorescence were used to assess the expression levels of the target genes and proteins. Results: DHA suppressed the invasion and migration of CAL-27 and FaDu cells. Additionally, miR-195-5p suppressed the invasion and migration of HNSCC cells. This study revealed significant differences in the expression of miR-195-5p and TENM2 between clinical samples and multiple public databases. DHA treatment and miR-195-5p overexpression significantly reduced TENM2 expression in HNSCC cells, which suggested that miR-195-5p overexpression enhanced the inhibitory effect of DHA on TENM2. Conclusions: This study provides the first evidence that DHA inhibits cell invasion and migration by regulating the miR-195-5p/TENM2 axis in HNSCC cells, suggesting it as a potentially effective treatment strategy for HNSCC.

RESUMO

Emerging intrinsically flexible fully π-conjugated polymers (FπCPs) are a promising functional material for flexible optoelectronics, attributed to their potential interchain interpenetration and entanglement. However, the challenge remains in obtaining elastic-plastic FπCPs with intrinsic robust optoelectronic property and excellent long-term and cycling deformation stability simultaneously for applications in deep-blue flexible polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs). This study, demonstrates a series of elastic-plastic FπCPs (P1-P4) with an excellent energy dissipation capacity via side-chain internal plasticization for the ultra-deep-blue flexible PLEDs. First, the freestanding P1 film exhibited a maximum fracture strain of 34.6%. More interestingly, the elastic behavior is observed with a low strain (≤10%), and the stretched film with a high deformation (>10%) attributed to plastic processing revealed the robust capacity to realize energy absorption and release. The elastic-plastic P1 film exhibits outstanding ultra-deep-blue emission, with an efficiency of 56.38%. Subsequently, efficient PLEDs are fabricated with an ultra-deep-blue emission of CIE (0.16, 0.04) and a maximum external quantum efficiency of 1.73%. Finally, stable and efficient ultra-deep-blue electroluminescence are obtained from PLEDs based on stretchable films with different strains and cycling deformations, suggesting excellent elastic-plastic behavior and deformation stability for flexible electronics.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect and safety of foot baths with Tangbi Waixi Decoction (TW) in treating patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). METHODS: It is a multicenter double-blinded randomized controlled trial. Participants with DPN were recruited between November 18, 2016 and May 30, 2018 from 8 hospitals in China. All patients received basic treatments for glycemic management. Patients received foot baths with TW herbal granules either 66.9 g (intervention group) or 6.69 g (control group) for 30 min once a day for 2 weeks and followed by a 2-week rest, as a therapeutic course. If the Toronto Clinical Scoring System total score (TCSS-TS) ⩾6 points, the patients received a total of 3 therapeutic courses (for 12 weeks) and were followed up for 12 weeks. The primary outcome was change in TCSS-TS score at 12 and 24 weeks. Secondary outcomes included changes in bilateral motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) and sensory nerve conduction velocity (SNCV) of the median and common peroneal nerve. Safety was also assessed. RESULTS: Totally 632 patients were enrolled, and 317 and 315 were randomized to the intervention and control groups, respectively. After the 12-week intervention, patients in both groups showed significant declines in TCSSTS scores, and significant increases in MNCV and SNCV of the median and common peroneal nerves compared with pre-treatment (P<0.05). The reduction of TCSS-TS score at 12 weeks and the increase of SNCV of median nerve at 24 weeks in the control group were greater than those in the intervention group (P<0.05). The number of adverse events did not differ significantly between groups (P>0.05), and no serious adverse event was related with treatment. CONCLUSION: Treatment of TW foot baths was safe and significantly benefitted patients with DPN. A low dose of TW appeared to be more effective than a high dose. (Registry No. ChiCTR-IOR-16009331).

RESUMO

Emerging printed large-area polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) are essential for manufacturing flat-panel displays and solid lighting devices. However, it is challenging to obtain large-area and stable ultradeep-blue PLEDs because of the lack of light-emitting conjugated polymers (LCPs) with robust deep-blue emissions, excellent morphological stabilities, and high charging abilities. Here, a novel unsymmetrically substituted polydiarylfluorene (POPSAF) is obtained with stable narrowband emission for large-area printed displays via triphenylamine (TPA) spirofunctionalization of LCPs. POPSAF films show narrowband and stable ultradeep-blue emission with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 36 nm, associated with their intrachain excitonic behavior without obvious polaron formation. Compared to controlled poly[4-(octyloxy)-9,9-diphenylfluoren-2,7-diyl]-co-[5-(octyloxy)-9,9-diphenylfluoren-2,7-diyl] (PODPF), excellent charge transport is observed in the POPSAF films because of the intrinsic hole transport ability of the TPA units. Large-area PLEDs are fabricated via blade-coating with an emission area of 9 cm2, which exhibit uniform ultradeep-blue emission with an FWHM of 36 nm and corresponding Commission internationale de l'éclairage (CIE) coordinates of (0.155, 0.072). These findings are attributed to the synergistic effects of robust emission, stable morphology, and printing capacity. Finally, preliminary printed passive matrix (PM) PLED displays with 20 × 20 pixels monochromes are fabricated, confirmed the effectiveness of spirofunctionalization in optoelectronics.

RESUMO

CO2 electroreduction holds great promise for addressing global energy and sustainability challenges. Copper (Cu) shows great potential for effective conversion of CO2 toward specific value-added and/or high-energy-density products. However, its limitation lies in relatively low product selectivity. Herein, we present that the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) pathway on commercially available Cu can be rationally steered by modulating the microenvironment in the vicinity of the Cu surface with two-dimensional sulfonated covalent organic framework nanosheet (COF-NS)-based ionomers. Specifically, the selectivity toward methane (CH4) can be enhanced to more than 60% with the total current density up to 500 mA cm-2 in flow cells in both acidic (pH = 2) and alkaline (pH = 14) electrolytes. The COF-NS, characterized by abundant apertures, can promote the accumulation of CO2 and K+ near the catalyst surface, alter the adsorption energy and surface coverage of *CO, facilitate the dissociation of H2O, and finally modulate the reaction pathway for the CO2RR. Our approach demonstrates the rational modulation of reaction interfaces for the CO2RR utilizing porous open framework ionomers, showcasing their potential practical applications.

RESUMO

Na doping strategy provides an effective avenue to upgrade the thermoelectric performance of PbTe-based materials by optimizing electrical properties. However, the limited solubility of Na inherently restricts the efficiency of doping, resulting in a relatively low average ZT, which poses challenges for the development and application of subsequent devices. Herein, to address this issue, the introduced spontaneous Pb vacancies and additional Mn doping synergistically promote Na solubility with a further modified valence band structure. Furthermore, the induced massive point defects and multiscale microstructure greatly strengthen the scattering of phonons over a wide frequency range, leading to a remarkable ultralow lattice thermal conductivity of ∼0.42 W m-1 K-1. As a result, benefiting from the significantly enhanced Seebeck coefficient and superior thermal transports, a high peak ZT of ∼2.1 at 773 K and an excellent average ZT of ∼1.4 between 303 and 823 K are simultaneously achieved in Pb0.93Na0.04Mn0.02Te. This work proposes a simple and constructive method to obtain high-performance PbTe-based materials and is promising for the development of thermoelectric power generation devices.

RESUMO

Solution-processable organic conjugated molecules (OCMs) consist of a series of aromatic units linked by σ-bonds, which present a relatively freedom intramolecular motion and intermolecular re-arrangement under external stimulation. The cross-linked strategy provides an effective platform to obtain OCMs network, which allows for outstanding optoelectronic, excellent physicochemical properties, and substantial improvement in device fabrication. An unsaturated double carbon-carbon bond (C = C) is universal segment to construct crosslinkable OCMs. In this review, the authors will set C = C cross-linkable units as an example to summarize the development of cross-linkable OCMs for solution-processable optoelectronic applications. First, this review provides a comprehensive overview of the distinctive chemical, physical, and optoelectronic properties arising from the cross-linking strategies employed in OCMs. Second, the methods for probing the C = C cross-linking reaction are also emphasized based on the perturbations of chemical structure and physicochemical property. Third, a series of model C = C cross-linkable units, including styrene, trifluoroethylene, and unsaturated acid ester, are further discussed to design and prepare novel OCMs. Furthermore, a concise overview of the optoelectronic applications associated with this approach is presented, including light-emitting diodes (LEDs), solar cells (SCs), and field-effect transistors (FETs). Lastly, the authors offer a concluding perspective and outlook for the improvement of OCMs and their optoelectronic application via the cross-linking strategy.

RESUMO

Intrinsically stretchable polymeric semiconductors are essential to flexible polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) owing to their excellent strain tolerance capacity under long-time deformation operation. Obtaining intrinsic stretchability, robust emission properties, and excellent charge-transport behavior simultaneously from fully π-conjugated polymers (FCPs) is difficult, particularly for applications in deep-blue PLEDs. Herein, an internal plasticization strategy is proposed to introduce a phenyl-ester plasticizer into polyfluorenes (PF-MC4, PF-MC6, and PF-MC8) for narrowband deep-blue flexible PLEDs. Compared with controlled poly[4-(octyloxy)-9,9-diphenylfluoren-2,7-diyl]-co-[5-(octyloxy)-9,9-diphenylfluoren-2,7-diyl] (PODPFs) (2.5%), the freestanding PF-MC8 thin film shows a fracture strain of >25%. The three stretchable films exhibit stable and efficient deep-blue emission (PLQY > 50%) because of the encapsulation of π-conjugated backbone via pendant phenyl-ester plasticizers. The PF-MC8-based PLEDs show deep-blue emission, which corresponds to CIE and EQE values of (0.16, 0.10) and 1.06%, respectively. Finally, the narrowband deep-blue electroluminescence (FWHM of ≈25 nm; CIE coordinates: (0.15, 0.08)) and performance of the transferred PLEDs based on the PF-MC8 stretchable film are independent of the tensile ratio (up to 45%); however, they show a maximum brightness of 1976 cd m-2 at a ratio of 35%. Therefore, internal plasticization is a promising approach for designing intrinsically stretchable FCPs for flexible electronics.

RESUMO

Human activity recognition (HAR) is becoming increasingly important, especially with the growing number of elderly people living at home. However, most sensors, such as cameras, do not perform well in low-light environments. To address this issue, we designed a HAR system that combines a camera and a millimeter wave radar, taking advantage of each sensor and a fusion algorithm to distinguish between confusing human activities and to improve accuracy in low-light settings. To extract the spatial and temporal features contained in the multisensor fusion data, we designed an improved CNN-LSTM model. In addition, three data fusion algorithms were studied and investigated. Compared to camera data in low-light environments, the fusion data significantly improved the HAR accuracy by at least 26.68%, 19.87%, and 21.92% under the data level fusion algorithm, feature level fusion algorithm, and decision level fusion algorithm, respectively. Moreover, the data level fusion algorithm also resulted in a reduction of the best misclassification rate to 2%~6%. These findings suggest that the proposed system has the potential to enhance the accuracy of HAR in low-light environments and to decrease human activity misclassification rates.

RESUMO

A 64-year-old man presented with headache and dizziness. A vertebrobasilar dissecting aneurysm was identified via computed tomography angiography and high resolution magnetic resonance imaging. Perioperatively, standard oral dual antiplatelet drugs were given. Two flow diverters were telespcoped for endovascular treatment of the aneurysm. Postoperatively, there were no signs of cerebral infarction and no new symptoms. At the 6-month follow-up, digital subtraction angiography showed that the aneurysm was almost completely occluded, with no other complications. This case serves as a reference for using the multiple telescoping flow diverter technique to treat vertebrobasilar dissecting aneurysm.

RESUMO

As an emerging environmental pollutant, microplastics have attracted much attention, but the sources and health hazards of atmospheric microplastics (AMPs) remain unclear. In order to explore the distribution characteristics, assess the risk of human respiratory exposure, and analyze the sources of AMPs in different functional areas of Yichang City, AMPs samples from 16 observation points were collected and analyzed, and the HYSPLIT model was used. The results showed that the main shapes of AMPs in Yichang City were fiber, fragment, and film, and six colors were observed including transparent, red, black, green, yellow, and purple. The smallest size was 10.42 µm, and the largest was 4761.42 µm. The deposition flux of AMPs was (4400±474) n·(m2·d)-1. The types of APMs were polyester fiber (PET), acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS), polyamide (PA), rubber (Rubber), polyethylene (PE), cellulose acetate (CA), and polyacrylonitrile (PAN). The order of the subsidence flux in each functional area was as follows:urban residential area>agricultural production area>landfill>chemical industrial park>town residential area. The human respiratory exposure risk assessment models showed that the daily intake of AMPs (EDI) for adults and children in urban residential areas was higher than in town residential areas. The atmospheric backward trajectory simulation showed that the AMPs in the districts and counties of Yichang City mainly came from the surrounding areas via short-distance transportation. This study provided basic data support for the research on AMPs in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and was of great significance for the traceability and health risk research of AMPs pollution.

RESUMO

Two-dimensional low-melting-point (LMP) metal nanocrystals are attracting increasing attention with broad and irreplaceable applications due to their unique surface and topological structures. However, the chemical synthesis, especially the fine control over the nucleation (reduction) and growth (crystallization), of such LMP metal nanocrystals remains elusive as limited by the challenges of low standard redox potential, low melting point, poor crystalline symmetry, etc. Here, a controllable reduction-melting-crystallization (RMC) protocol to synthesize free-standing and surfactant-free bismuth nanocrystals with tunable dimensions, morphologies, and surface structures is presented. Especially, ultrathin bismuth nanosheets with flat or jagged surfaces/edges can be prepared with high selectivity. The jagged bismuth nanosheets, with abundant surface steps and defects, exhibit boosted electrocatalytic CO2 reduction performances in acidic, neutral, and alkaline aqueous solutions, achieving the maximum selectivity of near unity at the current density of 210 mA cm-2 for formate evolution under ambient conditions. This work creates the RMC pathway for the synthesis of free-standing two-dimensional LMP metal nanomaterials and may find broader applicability in more interdisciplinary applications.

RESUMO

Electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR), which uses renewable electricity to produce high-value-added chemicals, offers an alternative clean path to the carbon cycle. However, bismuth-based catalysts show great potential for the conversion of CO2 and water to formate, but their overall efficiency is still hampered by the weak CO2 adsorption, low electrical conductivity, and slow mass transfer of CO2 molecules. Herein, we report that a rationally modulated nitrogen-doped graphene aerogel matrix (NGA) can significantly enhance the CO2RR performance of bismuth nanoplates (BiNPs) by both modulating the electronic structure of bismuth and regulating the interface for chemical reaction and mass transfer environments. In particular, the NGA prepared by reducing graphene oxide (GO) with hydrazine hydrate (denoted as NGAhdrz) exhibits significantly enhanced strong metal-support interaction (SMSI), increased specific surface area, strengthened CO2 adsorption, and modulated wettability. As a result, the Bi/NGAhdrz exhibits significantly boosted CO2RR properties, with a Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 96.4% at a current density of 51.4 mA cm-2 for formate evolution at a potential of -1.0 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode (vs RHE) in aqueous solution under ambient conditions.

RESUMO

Chemical doping of sodium is an indispensable means to optimize thermoelectric properties of PbTe materials, while a bottleneck is that an aliovalent atom doping leads to spontaneous intrinsic defects in the PbTe matrix, resulting in low dopant solubility. Therefore, it is urgent to improve the doping efficiency of Na for maximizing optimization. Here, an amazing new insight that the intentionally introduced Pb vacancies can promote Na solubility in ternary Pb1- x Nax Te is reported. Experimental analysis and theoretical calculations provide new insights into the inherent mechanism of the enhancement of Na solubility. The Pb vacancies and the resultant more dissolved Na not only synergistically optimize the carrier concentration and further facilitate the band convergence, but also induce a large number of dense dislocations in the grains. Consequently, benefiting from the self-enhancement of Seebeck coefficient and the minimization of lattice thermal conductivity, an 18% growth is obtained for the figure of merit zT in vacancy-containing Pb0.95 Na0.04 Te sample, reaching maximum zTmax  ≈ 2.0 at 823 K, which achieves an ultra-high performance in only Na-doped ternary Pb1- x Nax Te materials. The strategy utilized here provides a novel route to optimize PbTe materials and represents an important step forward in manipulating thermoelectrics to improve dopant solubility.

RESUMO

CO2 reduction reactions (CO2 RR) powered by renewable electricity can directly convert CO2 to hydrocarbons and fix the sustainable but intermittent energy (e. g., sunlight, wind, etc.) in stable and portable chemical fuels. Advanced catalysts boosting CO2 RR with high activity, selectivity, and durability at low overpotentials are of great importance but still elusive. Here, we report that the ultrathin Pd-Ag dendritic nanoplates (PdAg DNPs) exhibited boosted activity, selectivity, and stability for producing formate from CO2 at a very low overpotential in aqueous solutions under ambient conditions. As a result, the PdAg DNPs exhibited a Faradaic efficiency (FE) for formate of 91% and a cathodic energy efficiency (EE) of ∼90% at the potential of -0.2 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode (vs. RHE), showing significantly enhanced durability as compared with pure Pd catalysts. Our strategy represents a rational catalyst design by engineering the surface geometrical and electronic structures of metal nanocrystals and may find more applicability in future electrocatalysis.

RESUMO

Doping and blending strategies are crucial means to precisely control the excited states and energy level in conjugated molecular systems. However, effective models and platforms are rarely proposed to systematically explore the effects of the formation of trapped doped centers on heterogeneous structures, energy level and ultrafast photophysical process. Herein, for deeply understanding the impact of molecular doping in film energy levels and photoexcitation dynamics, we set a supramolecular N-B coordination composed by the conjugated molecules of pyridine functionalized diarylfluorene (host material), named as ODPF-Phpy and ODPF-(Phpy)2, and the molecule of tris(perfluorophenyl)borane (BCF) (guest material). The generation of the molecular-level coordination bond increased the binding energy of N atoms and tuned the band-gap, leading to a new fluorescent emission center with longer excitation wavelength and emission wavelength. The intermolecular Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) in blending films make it present inconsistent fluorescent behaviors compared to that in solution. The charge transfer (CT) state of N-B coordinated compounds and the changed dielectric constant of blending films resulted in a large PL spectra red-shift with the increased dopant ratio, causing a wide-tunable fluorescent color. The excited state behaviors of two compounds in blending system was further investigated by the transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy. Finally, we found supramolecular coordination blending can effectively improve the films' photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and conductivity. We believe this exploration in the internal coordination mechanisms would deepen the insights about doped semiconductors and is helpful in developing novel high-efficient fluorescent systems.

RESUMO

Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is identifiable by the excessive increase of mesenchyme paired with the loss of epithelium. Total flavonoids of Astragalus (TFA), the main biologically active ingredient of the traditional Chinese medicine, Astragalus membranaceus (Huangqi), shows outstanding effects on treating pulmonary disorders, including COVID-19-associated pulmonary dysfunctions. This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of TFA on treating pulmonary fibrosis and the possible mechanisms behind these effects. A549 cells were treated with TGF-[Formula: see text]1 and TFA to observe the potential effects of TFA on regulating alveolar epithelial cell proliferation, TGF-[Formula: see text]1-induced EMT, and the underlying mechanisms in vitro. Then, mouse pulmonary fibrosis was induced with a single intra-tracheal injection of bleomycin, and TFA was administrated by i.p. injection. Lung fibrosis was evaluated through histological and molecular analyses, and the possible mechanisms were explored using immunological methods. The results demonstrated that TFA could promote cell proliferation but inhibit TGF-[Formula: see text]1-induced EMT on A549 cells. TFA attenuated BLM-induced pulmonary fibrosis in mice by modulating inflammatory infiltration and M2 macrophage polarization; it furthermore modulated EMT through regulating the TGF-[Formula: see text]1/Smad pathway. In addition, TFA augmented the expression of the Wnt7b protein, which plays an important role in alveolar epithelium reparation. In conclusion, TFA alleviated bleomycin-induced mouse lung fibrosis by preventing the fibrotic response and increasing epithelium regeneration.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Cuproptosis is a novel form of cell death that is highly related to mitochondrial metabolism and mediated by protein lipoacetylation. This study systematically assessed the differential expression and genetic alterations of cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs) in head and neck squamous-cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and constructed CRG risk models to predict survival in patients with HNSCC. METHODS: We investigated the expression of 19 CRGs in HNSCC and noncancerous tissues, and the relationship between mutation load, immune infiltration, and clinical features was examined based on data from public databases. CRG risk models were constructed by univariate Cox analysis and lasso regression and validated by independent datasets for their accuracy in predicting survival outcomes in patients with HNSCC. The expression distribution of CRGs in HNSCC cells was further explored in the HNSCC single-cell sequencing dataset. RESULTS: NFE2L2, ATP7A, FDX1, LIAS, DLD, DLAT, PDHB, MTF1 and DBT were highly expressed in noncancerous samples, while GLS, CDKN2A and DLST were highly expressed in HNSCC samples (p < 0.05). Gene copy number variation frequency (CNV) revealed CDKN2A, FDX1 and DLAT copy number deletions and LIPT2 and NFE2L2 copy number increases. Ten CRGs were used to construct a risk model to predict overall survival (OS) in HNSCC, yielding reduced OS in the high-risk group compared to the low-risk group, training group (p = 9.733e - 05), and testing group (p = 0.040). The CRG risk model was significantly correlated with various immune cells, regulatory T cells (Tregs) and memory B cells were significantly negatively correlated (p = 0.027, p = 0.00084), and resting CD4 memory T cells was significantly positively correlated (p = 9e - 04). Most CRGs significantly affected the clinical characteristics of HNSCC. NFE2L2, SLC31A1, PDHA1, CDKN2A and DBT were highly expressed in epithelial cells of HNSCC, while SLC31A1, DBT and NFE2L2 were highly expressed in T cells, and SLC31A1 in B cells. In monocytes, NFE2L2, SLC31A1 and PDHA1 were highly expressed. CONCLUSION: The CRG risk model can be used as a potential prognostic factor for HNSCC patients and may provide new insights into cancer treatment from the perspective of copper metabolism.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Laryngeal cancer is a common malignancy in otorhinolaryngological head and neck surgery, accounting for approximately one-third of all head and neck malignancies. Terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) has recently been found to be useful for the detection of tumors. This study was conducted to investigate the application of THz-TDS in the diagnosis of pathological resection margins of laryngeal cancer. METHODS: Fresh laryngeal cancer tissues from 10 patients with laryngeal cancer were extracted, and after simultaneous HE staining and terahertz imaging, the tumor area, paracancerous area, and normal tissue area of each laryngeal cancer tissue sample were located under a microscope according to the pathological results of HE staining. RESULTS: The shape contours of the tumor region revealed by terahertz imaging maps and HE staining were similar. In the terahertz spectrum in the frequency range of 0.5-1.9 THz, both the absorption coefficient and refractive index values followed the order tumor > para cancer > normal tissue, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.01). When the terahertz frequency was 1.5 THz, the absorption coefficient of terahertz light waves by laryngeal cancer tissue and the percentage of nuclei showed an extremely high positive correlation (P < 0.01, r = 0.971). In the frequency ranges of 0.5-1.2 THz and 1.6-1.9 THz, the absorption coefficients of the highly differentiated group were higher than those of the moderately differentiated group. In the frequency range of 1.2-1.6 THz, the results were reversed, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). In the frequency range of 0.5-1.9 THz, the highly differentiated group had a higher refractive index than the moderately differentiated group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: THz-TDS can be used to determine the pathological margins of laryngeal cancer based on the absorption coefficient and refractive index, and the magnitudes of the absorption coefficient and refractive index are related to the percentage of nuclei. The degree of differentiation of laryngeal cancer tissue can be assessed by THz-TDS. The study shows that the terahertz time-domain system is promising for applications in the diagnosis of laryngeal cancer, especially for the more accurate identification of intraoperative margins.

A visible-light-induced persulfate-promoted cascade phosphorylation/cyclization reaction to access various phosphorylated pyrrolo[1,2-a]indolediones under mild conditions was developed. Notably, the transformation was carried out with diethyl carbonate/H2O as a green medium at room temperature. More impressively, traditional metal catalysts and photocatalysts could be effectively avoided. The reactions are simple to operate, easy to scale up, and have good functional group tolerance.
