[Evaluation of the dustiness of a bakery: an integrated system with an experimental electronic device]. / Valutazione della polverosità ambientale in un panificio: un sistema integrato con un dispositivo elettronico sperimentale.

In this paper we describe a novel approach to environmental control in a bakery, based on an integration system of qualitative and quantitative information. The aim is to identify prevention policy for allergic disease. Specifically, the dust concentration evaluated continuously by deposimeters and the realization of chemical-analytical investigations on flours samples, used in the production cycle, have given qualitative evaluation on powders dispersion; the integration of an electronic device, characterized by measurement reliability and low cost implementation, supported the development and evaluation of an environmental monitoring system in a bakery. The environmental control system could be used in other work environments where occupational asthma occurred.

[A case of HELLP syndrome with dramatic course successfully treated with early plasmapheresis]. / Un caso di Hellp syndrome a decorso drammatico risolto con plasmaferesi precoce.

A case of Hellp syndrome occurred in postpartum of a pregnancy elapsed without signs of preeclampsia is described. The evolution was particularly dramatic. Early plasmapheresis was the key treatment for a complete recovery in order to avoid Multiple Organ Dysfunction System (MODS). Emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach between Gynecologist, Anesthetist, Nephrologist and Hematologist is pointed out.

Stage 1 and 2 carcinoma of the cervix: review of complications in 140 cases treated in the years 1971-1980.

Complications of 140 cases of squamous carcinoma of the cervix treated by surgery are analyzed. Intra- and post-operative morbidity is considered; intra-operative morbidity was very low. Post-operative morbidity was mainly rappresented by early and late bladder dysfunction. Recurrence rate is analyzed; it is 10%.

Stage 1 and 2 carcinoma of the cervix: critical review of 140 cases treated in the decade 1971-1980.

140 cases of squamous carcinoma of the cervix stage I and stage II are reviewed ; 84 stage I and 56 stage II. Details of staging, surgical treatment and follow-up are exposed. Survival rates are analyzed at 3 and 5 years. Nodes involvement in the patients operated by Wertheim-Meigs was 12.5%.

Carcinoma of the vulva: 11 years of activity reviewed critically (1971-1981).

17 cases of infiltrative squamous carcinoma of the vulva are reviewed: 5 cases stage I, 7 stage II and 5 cases with node involvement at different stages. 16 radical vulvectomies were performed, 2 with pelvic lymphadenectomy, 1 case was treated with radiotherapy.

The Florence sextuplets. Report of a case. Part two: progression of pregnancy, the onset of labor and delivery.

The paper presents a successful case of sextuplet pregnancy after HMG-HCG induced ovulation. The pregnancy was brought to 34, 5 weeks of gestation with all six babies in good conditions and high birth weight (1200-1750 gr.). The effectiveness of early diagnosis, intensive follow-up, and elective caesarean section is discussed. Suggestions are made for the prenatal, intrapartum, and post natal problems connected with mulitple gestation of high fetal number.

Preliminary experience in the treatment of rebel ascites from ovarian cancer with the peritoneo-venous shunt of Leveen.

4 cases of rebel ascites from advanced ovarian cancer, considered lost to chemotherapy, are treated with Leveen's peritoneo-venous shunt. Deterioration of general conditions for the ascites and progressive unaffectiveness of chemotherapy induced the authors to find better conditions of life for these patients. By the peritoneo-venous shunt life condition improved significantly; the patients were able to continue chemotherapy with good results; 2 patients are living more than 2 years after the shunt.
