RESUMO

A method for directional introduction of oleylamine residues to any position of oligodeoxyribonucleotides during their automated synthesis was developed. The presence of oleylamine residues in 3'- or 5'-terminal nucleotides was shown to have no effect on the thermodynamic stability of DNA duplexes formed by such oligonucleotides and the complementary sequences. The rate of the snake venom phosphodiesterase hydrolysis of oligonucleotides containing oleylamine residues in the 3'-terminal units was shown to be markedly lower than that of natural oligonucleotides.

RESUMO

Irritation for 10 min of the posterior spinal root in the frog Rana temporaria (electrical stimulation 50 imp/sec, threshold power 4) results in decreasing size of the motoneurons and their nuclei and in appearing pycnomorphous type of neurons. Simultaneously, peculiar changes in cellular ultrastructure connected with inhibition of protein synthesis are observed. When the ginseng preparation is administered to intact animals, an increased excitability of the spinal centers, as well as increasing volume of the motoneuronal nuclei and certain ultrastructural shifts demonstrating activation of protein synthesis and cellular energy are observed. When the ginseng preparation is preliminary administered to the frogs, before a high-frequency synaptic activation of the motoneurons, it protects the cells from pathological changes and pycnotic shrinkage.

RESUMO

It has been demonstrated that the effects of aqueous extracts from the native ginseng and extracts of genseng tissue culture on the activity of identified neurones are identical. Neuronal excitability, tested intracellularly, significantly increases to the 60th minute of drug application, whereas gradually developing depolarization simultaneously disappears. Rhythmic orthodromic stimulation revealed the increase in neuronal responses during ginseng perfusion, the synaptic efficiency remaining constant. It is suggested that changes in transmembrane potential level evoked by administration of ginseng preparations are not related to changes in the excitability. Changes in the adaptive capacities of the neurones in invertebrate animals are due to nonspecific endoneuronal shifts in cellular metabolism induced by ginseng administation.
