RESUMO

The paper gives the results of experimental studies of the elastic-strength and functional characteristics of xenotissue samples (the pericardium of the calf, pig and Glisson's capsule) stabilized with glutaric aldehyde and polyepoxy compounds. The paper discusses various treatments of biological materials (including Glisson's capsule) anticalcified with additives (sodium dodecyl sulfate, complexes of copper and zinc) and shows that their use improves proteolytic and calcinotic resistance without deteriorating the mechanical parameters of xenotissues. Comparative analysis of the physical-mechanic and functional characteristics of xenotissues treated in different ways allows one to make anticalcifying treatment of biological tissues with copper and zinc complexes physical-mechanic and functional characteristics of xenotissues (Glisson's capsule) for clinical application.

RESUMO

Hapcol, a new osteoplastic material, representing a biological composition on the basis of a natural biopolymer collagen with biologically compatible osteotropic mineral hydroxyapatite has been developed and allowed for clinical use. It is intended for use in dentistry in surgical treatment of periodontal diseases, deformations of the abutment tissues of the face, filling of bone defects after cystectomy, surgery for bone plasty, etc. Hapcol is characterized by antiinflammatory action, stimulates repair osteogenesis and collagenogenesis. Joint stock company Polistom starts commercial manufacture of the new material.

RESUMO

The histological structure and mechanical properties of the pulmonary trunk and its valves were studied in 35 complexes of the pulmonary artery of man. The valvular apparatus of the pulmonary trunk is formed by anatomical elements with different morphological structures. In it there are elements which might be considered from standpoints of biomechanics as membranous (pulmonary trunk, sinuses, cusps) and shaft (fibrous ring, commissural shafts, arcuate crests) elements, the commissural shafts representing a combination of structures forming a closed spatial inter-related construction--a natural elastic framework of the pulmonary trunk root and the sheath elements are morphologically interrelated and fixed on this framework. The mechanical properties of these shaft elements are formed not only at the expense of inclusion of other formations in their structure but also at the expense of changes in the density of distribution and spatial orientation of main carrier structures of sheath elements attached to them. So, the strength and rigidity of the fibrous ring were associated not only with the presence of collagenous fibers and chondroid tissue n it, but also with the regular arrangement of collagenous fibers coming to it from the sinus. Similarly, the strength of arcuate crests was in many respects dependent on dense arrangement of longitudinally oriented smooth muscles. The amount of smooth muscles in the pulmonary trunk was 1.3 and 2 times higher than that of collagenous and elastic structures which allows the pulmonary trunk of man to be referred to arteries of muscular or mixed type. It points to the necessity to take into account the influence of muscle tone on mechanical behavior of the pulmonary trunk under physiological exercise.

RESUMO

Experimental study of the use of the precision suture techniques in application to the hepaticocholedochus and in formation of biliodigestive anastomoses in cholangitis revealed the advantages of the precision suture over the "traditional" one. The precision suture is very strong and air-tight, provides adequate adaptation of the coats of the hepaticocholedochus and the small intestine and creates thus optimum conditions for healing; when used in combination with absorbable suture material it excludes the formation of ligature cholelithiasis and reduces the risk of cicatricial stenosis.
