Examinations of 207 children suffering from early congenital syphilis have revealed a lowered incidence of involvement of the bone system, liver, and spleen. Syphilitic rhinitis, chorioretinitis, and orchitis are less frequently recorded. Wassermann's test has been negative in 7.24 percent of patients.

[A new universal program of postgraduate physician instruction in dermatology and venereology]. / Novaia unifitsirovannaia programma poslediplomnogo obucheniia vrachei po dermatovenerologii.

The Chair for Dermatology and Venereology at the Central Institute for Advanced Medical Training has developed a new universal programme for advanced training of physicians in this field; this programme is the sole document regulating continuous education of dermatologists and venereologists. It was approved by the Head Administration of Educating Institutions of the USSR Ministry of Health. The programme structure is based on a block system. Of the 8 blocks (courses) one deals with organizational aspects of dermatological and venereological care, five with dermatology, one with syphilis, one with gonorrhea and nongonorrheal diseases. The Programme includes curricula for two cycles of general and eight cycles of topical continuous education, defines the purposes of these cycles, and specifies who should be admitted for these cycles. The Universal Programme may be used parallel with other forms of continuous education (workshops, ten-day courses, etc.) and for individual education.

The results of examinations of 210 infants with early congenital syphilis with emphasis on skin involvement are analyzed. An increased incidence of syphilitic pemphigus was recorded along with decreased incidence of diffuse infiltration and papular elements.

Hypersensitivity to occupational allergens was detected in 45% of workers, allergic dermatoses and eczema in 8%, mycoses of the soles in 12%, premorbid changes of the skin in 30% of the examinees. Mycoses of the soles are more frequent in subjects with a history of, or suffering from dermatoses.

Hypersensitivity to phenolformaldehyde resins was detected in 16.2% of workers exposed to them, allergic dermatitis and eczemas in 21.5%, mycoses of the soles in 13.5%, premorbid shifts in half of the examinees. Mycoses of the soles prevailed in subjects with a history of dermatitis and in patients suffering from allergic dermatoses.

Poor organization of medical expert evaluation results in unjustified labor time loss and waste of social insurance money. Test controls and check-ups of the activities of outpatient prophylactic centers have revealed inadequate theoretical knowledge of the basic aspects of medical expert evaluation of the working capacity and poor practical skills of physicians in keeping files and records. Analysis of the status of medical expert evaluation of the working capacity of dermatological and venereological patients and analysis of physicians' scope of knowledge in this field help outline a comprehensive program for elimination of the shortcomings in this work.

The authors describe the treatment of 37 patients with condyloma acuminatum by an electron beam with a preset energy. The therapy has been highly effective. No complications or relapses have been recorded over a follow-up of 1.5-4 years.

[Characteristics of the course of psoriasis in World War II disabled veterans with a history of craniocerebral trauma]. / Nekotorye osobennosti techeniia psoriaza u invalidov Otechestvennoi voiny, perenesshikh cherepno-mozgovuiu travmu.

The contribution of a craniocerebral injury (CCI) to the clinical picture of psoriasis in 53 invalids of the Great Patriotic War is discussed. In remote periods after CCI the patients with psoriasis develop disorders of the adaptation and trophic function of the nervous system associated with metabolism impairments and early atherosclerosis. The diversity of clinical symptoms because of a number of concomitant diseases favors the development of grave clinical manifestations of the dermatosis, which fact calls for more thorough examinations of this patient population, for a differentiated approach to the choice of optimal therapy, and for active prophylactic check-ups.

The relationship between Ureaplasma titers and spermatozoa hypokinesia in the semen has been studied in 101 sterile patients and in 36 patients without ureaplasmas (a reference group). The spermatozoa mobility before and after doxicyclin therapy has been examined in the groups with low, medium, and high titers of the microorganism and in the reference group. The spermatozoa mobility has changed but negligibly after therapy in the reference group and in the group with low Ureaplasma level, in contrast to those with medium (p less than 0.01) and high (p less than 0.001) levels of the microorganism in the semen. The findings permit a suggestion that essential shifts of spermatozoa mobility may be explained in a number of cases by medium and high titers of Ureaplasma in infected ejaculate.

Inadequacy of the routine methods for therapy of infectious allergic vasculitides and the necessity of sanitizing the foci of infection have prompted the application of endolymphatic administration of antibiotics. Studies of ampicillin pharmacokinetics have demonstrated that a single endolymphatic injection in a dose of 1 x 10(6) U is sufficient to maintain the therapeutic concentration of the drug in the blood serum for 24 hrs. Ampicillin has been injected into the lymph vessels of both soles in the above dose once daily for 5-7 days to 10 patients suffering from allergic vasculitis for a long time. The pathologic elements regressed by the end of the course of therapy in all the cases; only two patients have developed relapses in several months, that have been rapidly arrested.
