The priority function of the lymphoid system is considered not only as the basis for immunological reaction but also as a system which synthesizes different substances of peptide and nucleotide nature that equally determines the specific and unspecific resistance of the body to the action of antigenic and non-antigenic factors of the environment. The lymphoid system role in fatigue, old age is stressed a leading mechanism in these processes on the basis of low-molecular lymphopeptides synthetized by this system and providing the general resistance of the body and specific function of the morphofunctional systems.

Acute radiation sickness (grades II-III) was induced in experiments on 135 adult rats by single total X-ray radiation (185.7 mCal/kg). A gel-chromatographic study showed that 40 days after irradiation the surviving animals showed a 2 times increase of substances with a molecular mass of 600-850 daltons in the homogenate of lymphoid organs. This possibly evidences their participation in restorative processes.

Autoimmune pathology was modelled in splenectomized animals by allosensitization with lymphoid tissue in association with Freund's adjuvant. It was found that splenectomy in guinea pigs produces stable disorders of homeostasis and morphological picture of the heart, liver, inguinal lymph nodes as well as a imbalance of the autoregulation mechanisms. The authors obtained an experimental model of autoimmune pathology that may be used for investigation of the pathogenesis of these states as well as for developing methods of corrective therapy.

[Thymalin in the combined treatment of patients with chronic lympholeukemia]. / Timalin v kompleksnom lechenii bol'nykh khronicheskim limfoleikozom.

Clinico-immunologic indices were studied in patients with the B-variant of chronic lympholeukemia (Stage II) under conditions of inclusion of thymalin in the complex treatment. It was established that use of thymalin in patients with chronic lympholeukemia favoured improvement of the functional activity of lymphoid cells, reduced the time of reaching clinico-hematological remission. Thymalin is indicated in the complex treatment of the above condition.
