RESUMO

Index of glutathione system studied in 20 healthy persons (KG-1), in 20 with non-complicated duodenal ulcer (KG-2), in 210 patients with bleeding gastroduodenal ulcer, in 77 in early period after different operations. Results obtained showed that ulcer disease, complicated with bleeding was characterized by significant changes in glutathione system degree of which was depended on amount of the blood lost. Operations in early period enhanced disorders in glutathione system. Inclusion of cobavit into the complex of postoperative therapy provided recovery of glutathione pool activation of glutathiontransferase and glutathionreductase reaction that resulted in increase of withdrawal of toxic metabolites and activation of biosynthetic processes in patient's organism.

RESUMO

Studied among indices for the glutathione system in 99 patients was content of total, oxidized, reduced glutathione. The studies made suggested that in patients beyond 60 years of age there are profound inadequecies in the glutathione system manifested by an apparent reduction in total, reduced glutathione and augmentation of the oxidized form in the blood. Surgical treatment in the above patient population has not been found to be associated with bringing all studied forms of glutathione back to normal, which fact attests to the need for quest of drugs-antioxidants to be employed in the complex of postsurgery curative measures.

RESUMO

Investigation of autonomic nervous system tonicity has been undertaken in 34 healthy persons (control group I), in 30 patients with non-complicated duodenal ulcer (control group 2), 38 patients with complicated gastroduodenal ulcer (10--with perforation, 13--with bleeding, 15--with stenosis) and 32 patients in the long-term period. The patients age was from 17 to 75 years. 72 patients were males and 28--females. Results of the study showed, that among the patients with complicated gastroduodenal ulcer there were eutonics and sympathicotonics, among those with non-complicated ulcer disease sympathotonics prevailed. To predict occurrence of complicated ulcer, determination of the tone of vegetative nervous system in patients with non-complicated ulcer in period between attacks is recommended. Identification of phenotype characteristics of vegetative nervous system tone allows to predict development of possible postoperative complications in patients with gastroduodenal ulcer.

RESUMO

The authors present data on 406 patients with ulcer disease subjected to vagotomy. The indications for the operation were as follows: stenosis of the pylorus in 118 patients (3 patients died); perforation in 45 patients (one patient died); chronic ulcer disease in 198 patients (one patient died); hemorrhage in 47 patients (5 patients died). Thus, lethality was mainly associated with complicated forms of the ulcer disease, with hemorrhage in particular in elderly and senile patients with concomitant diseases. Further improvement of the vagotomy technique, good skill of the surgeon and exact indications for the operation will result in better outcomes of the operation.
