RESUMO

Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is a rare mesenchymal tumor of vascular endothelial origin. Non-soft tissue epithelioid hemangioendothelioma can also be seen in different organs. Although chemotherapy has been used in some patients, complete surgical removal of the tumor tissue has proven to be the most durable solution. A 15-year-old female patient was admitted to our institution with right arm and neck pain. The patient complained of numbness and weakness in the right hand. Computerized tomography indicated an expansile lesion exhibiting osteolytic features located predominantly on the right side of the corpus, pedicle, lamina, and lateral processes of the C7-T1 vertebra. The patient underwent a surgical procedure involving the application of a bilateral C4-5-6 lateral mass screw, left C7-T1 pedicle screw, and bilateral T2-3 pedicle screw and fusion. The complete residual neoplasm was surgically removed during the procedure. Due to the rarity of epithelioid hemangioendothelioma, the existing literature on this topic is confined to case reports, supplemented by a small number of retrospective descriptive case series that aimed to improve our understanding of the clinical, pathological, and molecular features of the condition, as well as to guide potential treatment strategies.

RESUMO

Small bowel adenocarcinoma (SBA) is a rare disease and presents with intermittent abdominal pain, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, and gastrointestinal bleeding. In cases with delayed diagnosis, intestinal obstruction or bowel perforation can also be observed. In our case, the patient presented with ileus after an operation that was diagnosed with SBA. After six cycles of chemotherapy, the patient went into complete remission.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the relation between fruit seeds, plants residuals and appendicitis. Methods: Among cases that underwent appendectomy, the appendicitis cases having fruit seeds and undigested plant residuals in their etiology were examined retrospectively. Also, histopathological features, age, sex, and parameters of morbidity and mortality were used. Results: Fruit seed was found in one case(0.05%) with presence of pus in appendix lumen, undigested plant residuals in 7 cases(0.35%). It was determined that there were appendix inflammation in 2 of the plant residuals cases, while there were obstruction and lymphoid hyperplasia in the appendix lumen of5 cases. No mortality was observed. Conclusions: The ratio of acute appendicitis caused by plants is minimal among all appendectomised patients, but avoidence of eating undigested fruit seeds and chewing plants well may help to prevent appendicitis.
