RESUMO
The mechanical load applied during bone regeneration in implant treatments influences the early formation ofperi-implant bone tissue through the activation of different pathways. The aim of this review was to determine thecurrently available scientific evidence in this field.Material and Mectronic search in medical databases (Medline, Pubmed and Cochrane Lierimentalstudies in animal models published from 2003 to 2009.Results: There is scientific evidence that the immediate application of an axial load in implantology stimulatesbone formation, as measured by various histomorphometric parameters. Different physiological mechanisms (e.g.,production of nitric oxide, prostaglandin E2) participate in this effect, although their action has not been fullyelucidated.Conclusion: The precise role of mechanical loading in the osseointegration process remains unknown. Furtherstudies are required to demonstrate the biological mechanisms involved and the load range producing the mosteffective response and to develop devices for obtaining predictable clinical outcomes (AU)

El autismo es un trastorno del desarrollo en el que la interacción social, el lenguaje, el comportamiento y las funciones cognitivas están severamente afectadas. Estos niños deben ser educados en centros de educación especial donde se les ofrecerá un tipo de atención individualizada intentado, en la medida de lo posible, acercarles a la realidad que les rodea. Con el objetivo de mejorar su calidad de vida en el futuro a través de la salud general, y concretamente la salud oral, los odontólogos tenemos pendiente una labor muy importante de acercamiento a estos niños, integrándoles en programas preventivos y de mantenimiento, en colaboración con padres y educadores. A través del presente artículo, pretendemos dar a conocer al odontólogo las características de los niños que padecen esta enfermedad, así como los protocolos necesarios para su correcta atención en la consulta dental. De igual modo, es nuestro objetivo fomentar el mantenimiento de la salud oral mediante la colaboración de padres y educadores (AU)
Autism is a developmental disorder that severely affects social interaction, language, behaviour and cognitive functions. Children with autism must be educated at schools that provide special education and personalized attention that aims to bring them closer, insofar as possible, to the reality that surrounds them. With a view to improving their quality of life through general health and specifically oral health, we as dentists have a very important task in reaching out to these children and involving them in preventive and maintenance programmers together with parents and teachers. Through this article we aim to inform dentists of the characteristics of children with this disease and the protocols required to ensure they receive proper care during their dental visits. It is also our objective to foster oral health maintenance through parent and teacher collaboration (AU)
