RESUMO
Epilepsy care has been identified as a major global issue-and there are many recognised concerns in the UK for children and young people with the condition. A proposed new model could help to increase multisector integration, facilitate better outcomes and offer lessons for improving care of other long-term conditions.

The enantiospecific total synthesis of 14-membered macrolactone Sch 725674 was accomplished from tartaric acid. Key reactions in the synthesis include the Ley's dithiaketalization of an alkynone derived from the bis-Weinreb amide of tartaric acid, Boord olefination, and ring-closing metathesis of an acrylate ester.

Gene therapy is a new treatment modality in which new gene is introduced or existing gene is manipulated to cause cancer cell death or slow the growth of the tumor. In this review, we have discussed the different treatment approaches for cancer gene therapy; gene addition therapy, immunotherapy, gene therapy using oncolytic viruses, antisense ribonucleic acid (RNA) and RNA interference-based gene therapy. Clinical trials to date in head and neck cancer have shown evidence of gene transduction and expression, mediation of apoptosis and clinical response including pathological complete responses. The objective of this article is to provide an overview of the current available gene therapies for head and neck cancer.
RESUMO
The aim of this meta-analysis was to find out the clinical reliability of Pederson index in assessing the difficulty of surgery for impacted mandibular 3rd molar. The relevant articles were selected by Hand search and electronic media (Medline, Pubmed, Embase Cochrane library, ISI web of science) from Jan 2000 to Dec 2010. All the relevant articles were properly screened and findings were extracted from the articles. Pederson index had shown low sensitivity and specificity in predicting the difficulty of surgery for impacted mandibular 3rd molar. Positive and negative likelihood ratio had also shown the unreliability of Pederson index. The meta-analysis of the current literature concluded that Pederson index is not a reliable test to predict the surgical difficulty of impacted mandibular 3rd molar.
RESUMO
Plasma cell gingivitis is an uncommon inflammatory condition of uncertain etiology often flavoured chewing gum, spices, foods, candies, or dentifrices. The diagnosis of plasma cell gingivitis is based on comprehensive history taking, clinical examination, and appropriate diagnostic tests. Here we are presenting a rare case of plasma cell gingivitis caused by consumption of colocasia (arbi) leaves. Colocasia is a kind of vegetable, very commonly consumed in the regions of North India.
RESUMO
Necrotizing fasciitis of the chest wall is a fairly uncommon condition. Early diagnosis and treatment is the two main factors responsible for the prognosis. Odontogenic cause of the necrotizing fasciitis of the chest wall is a rare phenomenon. It can be easily missed during the initial examination. Mortality still remains high in necrotizing fasciitis despite the use of modern powerful antibiotics and advances in the care of critically ill patients. The disease manifestation can range from a fulminant presentation to a subtle and insidious development. In this paper we are presenting a case of necrotizing fasciitis of chest wall caused by infected dentigerous cyst.
RESUMO
Medical records are the document that explains all detail about the patient's history, clinical findings, diagnostic test results, pre and postoperative care, patient's progress and medication. If written correctly, notes will support the doctor about the correctness of treatment. Inspite of knowing the importance of proper record keeping in India, it is still in the initial stages. Medical records are the one of the most important aspect on which practically almost every medico-legal battle is won or lost. This article discusses the various aspect of record maintenance.
