RESUMO
The paper presents the experience in administration of testosterone andekanoate (andriol) in males suffering from infertility due to idiopathic oligozoospermia. Andriol produced a positive effect on ejaculate. As a result, 25% of the wives got pregnant. The response to andriol arises from posttesticular effects on maturation of spermatozoa and stimulation of the accessory sexual glands.

The enzymatic synthetic activity of peripheral blood lymphocytes was changed in the newborns whose mothers suffered from habitual miscarriages and were administered courses of metabolic therapy as part of combined pathogenetic treatment (basis therapy). Metabolic therapy brought about positive shifts which manifested by a reliable activation of succinate dehydrogenase and alpha-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase, this, in its turn, creating favorable conditions for the functioning of the mother-placenta-fetus metabolic system and being conductive to a better adaptation of the newborns in the early neonatal period. Metabolic therapy brought about a twofold reduction of the incidence of fetal hypoxia and hypotrophy.

Study of the cytochemical characteristics of enzymatic activity of peripheral blood cells in the newborns with a history of medium-severe-chronic intrauterine hypoxia revealed shifts in the levels of succinate dehydrogenase and a-glycerophosphate dehydrogenase. These data imply that changed enzymatic activity of dehydrogenases is an unfavorable prognostic sign indicating failure of adaptation and deterioration of reactivity in the early neonatal period.

A total of 250 women, working in the same enterprise in similar conditions, with similar communal conditions were examined. The data of questionnaires and case histories evidence that 5% of women virtually never used alcohol, 85% of women used alcohol in reasonable amounts, 10% of women abused alcohol. The screening methods that were effective in examinations of men suffering from chronic alcoholism were found useless in a population of working women. That is why adequate screening methods are to be developed for the assessment of the involvement of female organs and systems. The onset of menarche is delayed in women who abuse alcohol in the period of the menstrual function development. The findings of this research are in line with the previously published data on disorders of the reproductive function in women abusing alcohol and of fetal development in case of an antenatal exposure to ethanol.

A study of serum lipids in 68 women with ovarian forms of amenorrhea has documented prominent lipid abnormalities in most women with ovarian dystrophy and gonadal dysgenesis. It presented as elevation of cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels and a decrease in high density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, with Types IV and IIb dyslipoproteinemia. These findings suggest that the women with ovarian dystrophy and gonadal dysgenesis are at a high risk of early onset of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases.
