RESUMO

In the present study, gold nanoparticles were locally well-decorated on the surface of TiO2 using the tungstophosphoric acid (HPW), as UV-switchable reducing intermediate linkers. The prepared Au NPs/HPW/TiO2 nanostructure was characterized using FTIR, XRD, EDS, SEM and TEM, which confirmed the successful attachment of quasi-spherical Au NPs in the range of 20-30 nm on the surface of HPW modified TiO2. Also, the FTIR results show that the Au NPs were binded to TiO2 through the terminal the oxygen atoms HPW. The photocatalytic performance of prepared nanostructures was assessed in degradation of nitrobenzene. The nitrobenzene photodegradation kinetic study revealed that it well followed the Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic model with the apparent rate constant of 0.001 min-1 using anatase TiO2, 0.0004 min-1 using HPW, 0.0014 using HPW/TiO2, while it was obtained 0.0065 min-1 using Au NPs@HPW/TiO2 nanostructure. It shows that the photocatalytic rate of the prepared nanocomposites increased by 6.5- and 4.6-fold compared to photoactivity of anatase TiO2 and HPW/TiO2 respectively. Also, the photocatalytic mechanism of process was proposed. Moreover, the reusability study confirmed that its photocatalytic activity still remained high after three cycles.

RESUMO

Silver nanoparticles-decorated Preyssler functionalized cellulose biocomposite (PC/AgNPs) was prepared and fully characterized by FTIR, UV-vis, SEM, and TEM techniques. The preparation of PC/AgNPs was studied systematically to optimize the processing parameters by Taguchi method using the amount of PC, reaction temperature, concentration of silver nitrate and pH of medium. Taguchi's L9 orthogonal (4 parameters, 4 level) was used for the experimental design. The SEM analysis confirmed the presence of the Preyssler as a white cloud as well as spherical AgNPs on the surface of cellulose. The formation of AgNPs on the surface was observed by changing of the color from yellow to deep brown and confirmed by UV-vis spectroscopy. The best yield of AgNPs forming was obtained in pH 12.5 at 80 ºC in 20 min. TEM analysis confirmed the formation of spherical AgNPs with a size of 50 nm, at the 1% wt. loading of Preyssler. This easily prepared PC/AgNPs was successfully employed as an efficient, green, and reusable catalyst in the synthesis of a wide range of 2-amino-4H-pyran and functionalized spirochromene derivatives via a one-pot, multicomponent reaction. The chief merits realized for this protocol were the utilization of commercially available or easily accessible starting materials, operational simplicity, facile work-up procedure, obtaining of high to excellent yields of the products and being done under green conditions. The catalyst could be easily separated from the reaction mixture and reused several times without observing any appreciable loss in its efficiency.

RESUMO

Polyoxometalate-based drugs have been selected by some researchers as alternative antitumor substances with promising results in suppression of tumor growth because of low toxicity towards the human body and high activity. In this research, for the first time, nanolipid-loaded Preyssler polyoxometalate with diameters of 230-250 nm was synthesized and characterized by the Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Analysis (EDAX), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), and Infrared (IR) spectroscopy. The nanoliposomes were found to be nearly spherical, without any agglomeration with the Entrapment Efficiency of 53.8%. In -vitro antitumor activity of the synthesized nanoliposomes was investigated using the MTT method on HepG2 tumor cells. Our findings showed enhanced anticancer activity for the nanolipid-loaded Preyssler (NLP) compared to the Sorafenib as a commercially drug at 72 h. Selectivity of the synthesized NLP and Sorafenib for cancer cells versus primary HFF cells was obtained as 4.2 and 2.2, respectively. The IC50 value of the loaded nanoliposomes for cancer cells and normal cells was equal to 470 and 2000 µg/mL, respectively at 72 h, which was much better compared to that of the Sorafenib (7 and 16 µg/mL, respectively).

RESUMO

Nanomaterials are showing great potential for the improvement of water treatment technologies. In recent years, catalysis and photocatalysis processes using gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) have received great attention due to their effectiveness in degrading and mineralizing organic compounds. This paper aims to review and summarize the recently published works and R & D progress in the field of photocatalytic oxidation of various water pollutants such as toxic organic compounds (i.e. azo dyes and phenols) by Au-NPs/TiO2 under solar, visible and UV irradiation. Extensive research which has focused on the enhancement of photocatalysis by modification of TiO2 employing Au-NPs is also reviewed. Moreover, the effects of various operating parameters on the photocatalytic activity of these catalysts, such as size and loading amount of Au-NPs, pH and calcination, are discussed. The support type, loading amount and particle size of deposited Au-NPs are the most important parameters for Au/TiO2 catalytic activity. Our study showed in particular that the modification of TiO2, including semiconductor coupling, can increase the photoactivity of Au/TiO2. In contrast, doping large gold NPs can mask or block the TiO2 active sites, reducing photocatalytic activity. The optimized loading amount of Au-NP varied for each experimental condition. Finally, research trends and prospects for the future are briefly discussed.

RESUMO

A study of the effects of the interactions with amino acids on the vibrational spectra of Keggin heteropolyanions (Na(n)H(3-)n[XM(12)O(40)](n-); n = 0,1,2,3; X = P(V), Si(IV), M = W(VI), Mo(VI)) has been performed. Interactions occurred for all of the studied compounds leading to changes and splits in the stretching frequencies. Depending on the amino acid type, the IR bands for interbridge stretchings (M-O(b)-M) and terminal stretchings (M-O(d)) were affected.
